Thursday Billboard Update - 3/27/08

As I told you yesterday, Danity Kane's debut album rightfully assumed its #1 position with little competition given by anyone. Now, to Flo Rida. This is a HUGE problem in the industry today, too many rappers get the quick hit and fade when its time for the album. In this case, I'd attribute it to the label for totally missing an opportunity when Flo's Low was the hottest shit out for 10 weeks straight. That's right, this nigga has the #1 single in the country for 10 damn weeks and he and his label couldn't capitalize on it. Its not like he was molding a classic or anything, it was just a regular rushed album you'd expect from a ringtone rapper. Shame on him and his damn label.

Wow, where do a start?? Well obviously Leona Lewis and Lil Wayne are the big stories this week. Okay, I'll start with Leona. In an upset of epic proportions Leona Lewis' single Bleeding Love K.O.'s Usher's Love In This Club and steals the #1 spot! I'm shocked! Then again I already doubted Ush could stay the course at #1 until his album dropped in June, but he had a good 3 week run for a song without a video. Then again I guess this shouldn't be a surprise because I told you all last week that her reign was coming lol. Now, to the other big story this week on Hot, Lil Wayne. The far from best rapper alive's less than stellar first single Lollipop skies an amazing 76 spots to claim the #9 spot this week. If I'm not mistaken this is Wayne's first top 10 single in his career so kudos to him though I have yet to hear it on the radio personally lol.
