Thursday Billboard Update - 9/27/12

P!nk's The Truth About Love is the new #1 album in the country with a hefty 280,000 albums sold. Shockingly enough, this is her first #1 album, though it's not the first time she's sold over 200,000 records in the first week. Coming in at #2 is Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music album Cruel Summer, with 205,000 copies sold. Normally I wouldn't mention this, but Carly Rae Jepsen's album Kiss finally came out and it starts at #6 with 46,000 copies sold. While that would be a lot for some (see Kreayshawn below), it doesn't seem like much for the woman with the biggest single of 2012, Call Me Maybe. The scent of one-hit wonder is getting stronger.

Only one major change in the top 10 this week, and that Psy's megahit Gangnam Style flying 9 more spots (11-2) and being on the verge of being the #1 song in America next week. Whoa, crazy, crazy! (Shout out to the 06010 and Fantasy Focus Football Podcast.)

Pusha T - Exodus 23:1 (feat. The-Dream)

Here's a new joint from Pusha T that is most likely from the G.O.O.D. Music album Cruel Summer dropping...well we don't know that part yet, but feel free to check out the music anyway.

The internets say this could possibly be a diss subliminal diss to Drake and/or The Weeknd, but all I know is this shit goes hard! If anything, I'd say Pusha dissed himself by saying, "Contract all fucked up, I guess that means you're all fucked up. You signed to one nigga, that signed to another nigga, that signed to three niggas, now that's bad luck." You know, since Pusha T is signed to one nigga (Kanye), that's signed to another nigga (Jay-Z), that's signed to three niggas (Sony Music Entertainment), much like Drake, and the vast majority of other rappers.

Oh, and if you were too lazy to Google Exodus 23:1, the scripture reads, "Do not spread false reports. Do not help a wicked man by being a malicious witness."

Kanye West Announces G.O.O.D. Album Title, Film

Cruel Summer, that's the name of the album and movie (yes, and also the name of that Bananarama song that was in "The Karate Kid"). Unfortunately, there's no release date as of yet, but the word "Summer" is in the title, so it has to come out at some point in the next 3 months, right? Can't have a cruel summer in October, that'd just be weird.

If you're looking for more Cruel Summer possibilities, Marc Hogan of Spin wrote 5 safe assumptions about it. Not a bad read.
