Fan Hits Half Court Hook Shot For $75,000

...And gets tackled by LeBron James. Quite a half court hooker indeed, Eric Reid.

Oh, and this shot was also #1 on the NBA's top 10 plays of last night!

Lastly, shout out to Brian Grant and Eddie Jones who were also honored last night at the Heat game. I encourage you to check out Brian's website and read about his story. If you weren't aware, he suffers from Parkinson's and he started a foundation for awareness and research.

The Scallenge: Round 1

The White Mamba, bitch!

Best line of this video: "...But the question is does he have the speed, does he have the quickness to take on the Vanilla Godzilla."

Gayest line in this video: "His length really bothered me. It was hard, and his size down low; wasn't easy to maneuver him down there."

Speaking of gay, doesn't Matt Tomaszewski kinda resemble Dustin Zito from "The Real World: Las Vegas," aka Fratpad? I say yes.

Kobe Bryant Becomes 5th Player To Score 30,000 Points

In a win over the New Orleans Hornets Pelicans, Kobe Bean Bryant netted 29 points and became the youngest player to reach 30,000 points after his 13th point of the night (he has 30,016 as of tonight). And not only is he the youngest to 30,000, but he's also only the 5th player to ever do it (Wilt, Jordan, Malone, and Kareem are the others).

Welp, only 2,276 more to catch Jordan.

New Orleans Hornets Changing Nickname To Pelicans

The logo above is not a prototype for New Orleans' future logo. It actually belongs to a Finnish hockey team called the Lahti Pelicans, but I'm sure sure their logo will be equally as lame, which is why going from the Hornets to the Pelicans is completely retardede. I understand that the brown pelican is Louisiana's state bird and it's represented on everything from their flag to their quarter, but that doesn't stop it from being a dumb fucking idea.

If I played for New Orleans, I'd want no part of being a Pelican. In fact, if I was Anthony Davis, I'd ask for a trade yesterday. Hell, I'd rather them nickname the team the 'Brows over something as corny as the Pelicans. I'm sorry, pelicans just aren't cool and no one is coming to see the Pelicans.

David Stern has to veto this for basketball reasons, right? If he can video the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers, why can't he veto this name trade? Or least tell the Jazz they have a season to give New Orleans it's name back. Something! I'm just so...I don't even know. This is just such a fail all the way around.

LeBron James Named SI's Sportsman Of The Year

And rightfully so, there probably won't be many times a guy wins league MVP, an NBA championship, Finals MVP, and a gold medal in the Olympics and not when Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year.

Anyway, here's LeBron speaking on the honor:

Not sure how or why LeBron was "very shocked" by winning this (read first paragraph), but whatever, congrats.

NBA Debuts Wack New Jerseys For Christmas

Love the commercial, hate the jerseys.

Whether it's the weird throwbacks (Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Heat, etc.), lame alternates (Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs, etc.), the Oregon Ducks change color combination every weekend, or these abominations, why can't they just leave the damn uniforms alone??

Lakers Hire Phil Jackson Mike D'Antoni

I would say I'm stunned, but I think enough people have said that enough since the news broke the Lakers said fuck Phil Jackson and went with Mike D'Antoni as their next head coach. This should be interesting, but I'm not sure the Lakers have the personnel to run his offense. Either way, I'm sure OKC is as excited about the Lakers hiring D'Antoni over Jackson as the Lakers were when they traded James Harden to the Rockets. This is the most retarded arm's race ever.

Uncle Drew: Chapter 2

Great video (again), but goodness their old men voices were awful lol. They should have had Bill Russell do voiceovers instead of making a cameo.

On another note, watching this video makes me sad that Kevin Love is out with that hand injury. You may or may not have known this, but once upon a time Kevin Garnett was my favorite player and Minnesota was my favorite team. Then he got traded to Boston (a team I've always hated) and I started rooting on my #2 team (Miami) full time, but a soft spot for Minnesota remained. That's why I campaigned for Bill Simmons to become their GM in '09 and was so disappointed when they stupidly drafted Jonny Flynn over Steph Curry. Oh well, I just hope Big Love is back and healthy soon.

Random News Shit: NBA Players Gettin' PAID Edition

1) James Harden Gets 5-Year/$80 Million Deal From Rockets
And if his performance last night (37 points, 12 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals) is any indicator, he's worth every dime. How crazy would it be if Harden kept this up and started over Russell Westbrook in the All-Star game or challenged Kevin Durant for the scoring title? OKC fans would be sooooo pissed and it would be hilarious!

2) Warriors Give Stephen Curry 4-Year/$44 Million Deal
If you've followed me for awhile, you know I'm a big Steph Curry fan, so I'm happy to hear this, I just hope his ankle holds up and he doesn't become the modern day Grant Hill.

3) Jrue Holiday Gets $41 Million Extension From Pistons
Seems like a lot, but the kid can ball, so I'm good with it.

4) DeMar DeRozan Signs $40 Million Extension With Raptors
Hopefully some of that money is for him getting robbed in the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest. Hey, does this mean he's now richer than his college teammate Lil Romeo? I think it might.

5) Bulls & Taj Gibson Agree On $38 Million Extension
What a steal! Taj is clearly better than Carlos Boozer, and he got a max deal. Taj might've wanted to consider testing free agency.

6) Knicks-Nets Game Postponed
Damn, now I guess I gotta watch that dreadful Chiefs-Chargers game. Fuck!

OKC Trades James Harden To Houston

Wow, wow, WOW! I couldn't be any more shocked about this trade. I mean, if the Thunder were gonna trade James Harden, you'd figure it would've happened over the summer, not days before the start of the season. Crazy. Anyway, here's the trade breakdown:

Houston gets James Harden, Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook, and Lazar Hayward; OKC gets Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb, two first-round picks and a second-round pick.

Initially the winner looks like Houston because they got the best player, but upon further review, the big winner is the Los Angeles Lakers. Now instead of having to go through OKC's Big 3, they now only have to go through OKC's Big 2.5. Hell, maybe even Big 2.25, so yeah, the Lakers are definitely the prime beneficiaries of this deal.

Do you know who the big loser is? The funniness of this picture. R.I.P.
