This Week In Flops 6/12/12
I'm guessing Usher's Looking 4 Myself will debut at the top next week because that's just what Usher does. I doubt it will do Raymond v. Raymond numbers (329,000), but I can't see it falling in the 140-170k range.
This album originally came out last November in the UK and now it's being released in the United States. When it first came out it sold 102,000 in its first week, so I'm thinking it'll do about half of that here in the States. I'm guessing 35-65k.
I'll be honest, I don't know what to expect from this album sales-wise, so I'm guessing it falls somewhere between 20-50k.

Only one album to talk about this week and it's Killer Mike's R.A.P. (Rebellious African People) Music. Honestly, I didn't find out this came out until I decided to do this post, and that's never a good thing. It's a shame more famous rappers aren't tweeting about it like they were when Garbage Ass Future put his weedplate out a few weeks ago, but I guess that's just the way things go these days.
Anyway, I doubt R.A.P. Music will make much noise; I'm thinking it'll land somewhere in the 5-15k range.

Doesn't this seem random? I didn't even know this album was coming out until like Saturday. Either way, Garbage Ass Future just sold 41,000 last week, and I know B.o.B can outdo that, so I'm gonna go with 65-100k.

Did you know the pathetic excuse for a rapper that calls himself Future had an album that dropped today? Well he did and now it's time to guess what his first week numbers will be. I'm going with 10-30k. I can't think of one reason any human would want this garbage, but I'm sure there's enough fools out there for him to shift at least 10,000 first week.

I still have no idea if this is a new album or just a re-release of the first one, and honestly, I'm not really all that eager to find out. Either way, I don't see any way this shit doesn't sell a shitload of records and debuts at #1 next week. I'm guessing 350-450k.
Cool, Obie Trice is back! I'm sure this album is awesome, but sadly it won't sell many copies. I'm guessing 10-20k.

I pretty much took an entire year off from doing This Week In Flops, but it's time to bring back one of this site's originals. Let's guess some numbers!
By the time Diggy was ready to release his album, he was suppose to be on top of the world with a massive hit. That didn't exactly happen, but I still think he'll do well off teenage girls alone. I think Run's talented son will fall somewhere in the 50-80k range.
I'm not gonna lie, I don't know shit about this project really, but Melanie has a nice little following, so I'm with 25-65k.

This Week In Flops took a little break (okay, a 6 month break), but with that virus forcing me into a dry spell, I figured there was no better time than now to bring it back. It also didn't hurt that I'm now pretty sure J. Cole's album is going to flop.
Look, I'm a major J. Cole supporter, but Cole World is about to flop as hard as that wall the Situation ran into in Italy. Tonight a friend and I spent about 2 hours searching Best Buy and Target for his debut album only to come up empty. On the surface that's a great thing, because it means the album is selling. Then I realized there just wasn't many copies on display to begin with (the exact opposite of Lil Wayne albums because sadly there were rows and rows of Tha Carter IV and I Am Not A Human Being). That's not a good thing because fans can want to buy your album all they want, but they can't make the purchase if the albums isn't there.
Now, I'm not sure exactly how many copies Sony shipped, but I can see the "It's the label's fault, the album was undershipped" headlines in the distance. I'm going to continue to try to find a physical copy of the album, but I'm expecting low numbers next week when the SoundScan drops.I'm going with 25-50k for Cole.

**UPDATE**
First, I finally found a copy of Cole World. Thank goodness! And second, apparently Broward County stores were the only ones understocked because "industry prognosticators" say J. Cole's debut is headed for sales of 240,000-250,000 and the #1 spot. Man, it would be insane if that comes to fruition because Cole definitely never found his Slow Jamz.

Coming in at #1 next week will be Britney Spears' Femme Fatale, the only thing left to settle now is how much she'll sell. Britney's 2008 effort Circus moved 505,000 first week, and while I don't think this album will reach those heights, it should still be an great opening week. My guess is 375-450k.
Wiz Khalifa is arguably the hottest rapper in the game right now (overall, not musically), now it's time to see if that heat can translate into record sales. Generally, weed-based rappers don't perform well, but I think Cruella Khalifa has a good shot at that #2 spot. For him, I'm going with 115-150k.
I can't think of a Snoop Dogg album less anticipated since Doggumentary the No Limit days. Now I'm not saying the album sucks or anything, but its been a LONG time since Dogg has had little-to-no buzz surrounding an album.
Regardless, its hitting stores today, and I'm expecting sales in the range of 50-90k.
This is the first time I've had a gospel album on TWIF, so I'm not familiar with what they usually sell. And yes, that is a built in excuse because I expect to be totally wrong with my guess of 30-60k.
I'm not sure we needed dual E-40 albums in consecutive years, but nevertheless he's back with Graveyard and Overtime Shirt of his Revenue Retrievin' series. Sales of both album should be nearly identical once again, and I'm guessing 10-15k.

Busy week and first up we have Chris Brown's 2nd album post-Rihanna beat down, F.A.M.E. Earlier today Chrisqo had a meltdown of sorts at Good Morning America after being asked some light questions about Rihanna. Verdict: publicity stunt. You mean to tell me this nigga couldn't keep his cool after being asked some simple questions about his legal situation? I don't buy it.
Everybody who wasn't gonna buy the album really isn't now, but his fans that were on the fence probably will now because they're gonna allow themselves to be brainwash into think Chrisqo is being picked on. He effectively rallied the base, I can't be mad at that. It should be a good week for him because of this, so I'm guess he does between 150-200k first week.
Next up is Jennifer Hudson's I Remember Me. I can't lie, I don't know much about this album, but I still think it's gonna be good for at least 80,000. I'm gonna go with 80-110k.
Pharoahe Monch's last album did about 12,000 first week in 2007, and I think W.A.R. will do about the same. I'm guessing 8-15k for Pharoahe.
I have no idea if this is an album or a mixtape, but there's a video out, so I'm just gonna treat it like am album. Whatever, no one cares, 5-15k.

This Week In Flops 3/8/11
Welp, this is the first This Week In Flops of 2011 and I must say, it is LONG overdue. Lets get started.
I know on the podcast Friday I said I was gonna review Lupe Fiasco's 3rd album Lasers, but after listening to it once, I really have no motivation to hear it again. And its not that it sucks, like a lot of dimwits say, its because its rather boring. Whatever, I'm still gonna write the review, just don't expect anything super long.
As far as sales go, don't expect much. An album that kept getting pushed back + bad reviews = bad times when the SoundScan numbers comes out. I'm guessing 30-60k.

Before I start, I want to remind everyone that a Michael Jackson album called Michael also dropped this week. I would've included it in today's proceedings, but I felt uncomfortable with putting the King Of Pop under the title "flop."
Aight, we have a lot of albums to get through again, so I'm gonna make these short and sweet.
All I've been hearing is good things about this R. Kelly album. I guess he's done making foolish tracks like Real Talk, and got back to the real shit that made him who he is. Is all the acclaim coming too late to sway his first week numbers?? Possibly, but he's the R, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say 80-110k.
Ciara is still the sexiest chick with no body in the world, and I'd still pick her #1 overall in the Sex Draft, but I'm not sure anybody is checking for this album. I hope they are because I like her, but I just don't feel it or see it. I'm gonna say it falls in the 30-60.
Good ol' Tank is back at them again, and I think he's good for 30-60k.
I don't know much about this project, but a lot of people watch that show she's on, so I'll say 20-45.
Donnie! Def Jam let's another one go under the radar, I'll say 10-25k.

T.I. is fuckin' up. Some people might be surprised that I nominated him for "Lamest Rapper" in the L.A.M.E. Awards, but it's well deserved. You get out of jail, just to go right back in within the same year IN THE PRIME OF YOUR CAREER. Oh well, Tip doesn't need a lecture from me to know that he fucked up, so let's get this pick down.
I'll sayKing Uncaged King Re-caged No Mercy moves somewhere in the 100-150k range.
Charlie Wilson is having a quietly good year, and I say it continues with a big week (for a Charlie Wilson album) and lands in the 50-90k range.
Def Jam isn't even trying anymore are they?? Sad, sad, sad. 10-30k.

The last time Chrisette Michele dropped an album she shocked the shit out of me and came in #1 with over 80,000 sold. This time she stands no chance of coming in #1, but she could definitely sell a similar amount of units. I got Let Freedom Reign landing between 50-80k.
Jazmine Sullivan is fairly how, so I have her next up and moving 40-75k.
Remember when people kept saying Soulja Boy is still relevant?? Well this will be his 2nd flop in 3 attempts. I'd put money down that he doesn't get another shot unless this shit sales at least 50,000. I have him doing less than that: 25-45k.
Flo Rida is dropping an album today?? Aight then. Ummm, 15-35k.
El DeBarge is back! I hope his album does well, but who really knows?? I certainly don't. I'll say he does between 15-35 as well.

And I REALLY don't know who knows this is dropping. Tragic. I'll say Miguel falls in the 10-25k range.

This Week In Flops 11/22/10
Okay, so the album review is done, and now it's time for the Industry Prognosticator to get to picking some numbers.
Kanye's album should obviously coast to victory this week, but how high can these figures get?? Could My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy do a milli?? Taylor Swift just did it a few weeks ago, and Black Friday will inflate the first week numbers, so it's possible. Personally, I don't think that's gonna happen, but I do think he'll finish upwards of 500,000. My guess is MBDTF lands in the 600-700k range.
Pink Friday...on Monday. Wow, I almost never thought this day would come, but here it is in all of its glory.
Here's a confession: The main reason I don't think Kanye West's MBDTF will top 1 million sold first week is because Pink Friday is gonna vulture some of his sales. I mean, there's a possibility people get both, but I still think there's a lot that's get one or the other.
Anyway, I have Nicki doing big number as well and falling in the 200-260k range.
On this day, I feel most sorry for Lloyd Banks. From all accounts, his album is incredible, but he stands no chance going up against Kanye and Nicki.
Well hopefully he can get some residual sales and finish between 80-120k.
If Ne-Yo is really trying to shake the whole gay thing, this album cover definitely isn't helping his cause. Libra Scale should've been pushed back for the sole purpose of making a new cover. That is unless Ne-Yo is actually trying to drop hits and come out of the closet. Judging by this cover, I'm not so sure that isn't the case.
Anyway, there doesn't seem to be too much excitement about this album, so I'll say 50-100k.
Obviously Yelawolf's EP is gonna come in last on this monstrous day. Hell, if this was a whole album it still would've come in last. I don't know what the fine folks at Interscope were thinking, but this definitely isn't the best way to bring attention to your new guy. I'll say 5-20k.

Owner of the #1 and #4 singles in the country, I think Rihanna is in for a fairly big week. With Loud, I'm gonna go with somewhere in the 150-180k range.
I didn't even know Kid Rock was coming out with an album, but then again, this album isn't for me. Anyway, I think Kid Rock is good for at least 100,000, so I'll say 105-125k.
Ol' Nelly Nell is back, and this time he actually has a hit record out (unlike his previous comeback effort in '08 with Brass Knuckles). His last album sold 83,717 first week with little, to no, buzz (outside of the cover in which the ladies were going gaga over), so with the decent in sales over 2 years, I think he'll do about the same thing time. I'm saying he falls somewhere in the 75-100 range.

Last year CuDi surprised me and sold 104,300 in his first week. The difference this time, he doesn't have a hit record out. But still, CuDi has a weird cult following of demin legging wearing white boys, so I say he's good for 40-65k.
I'll be honest, I don't know what to expect from this album sales wise. I could see it selling anywhere from 20,000, all the way up to 80,000, so I'm gonna place my pick in the middle and guess 35-55k.
Twista effectively ruined his career by trying to go pop on his last 2 album Adrenaline Rush 2007 and Category F5, but Twist tries to go back to his original form on The Perfect Storm. I don't know, I haven't listened to the album yet, but that's what he's saying.
Anyway, I'm not sure how many people know this album is dropping, and that is never good for record sales. I'll say Twista's new joint falls in the 10-30k range.
