Well it sure did take a long time to get this video, huh? I mean shit, the album came out in January and we're just getting the video for the 2nd single in July. Not a good look.

Oh well, I still love this song. It just feels so right! I might have to give The Sea a spin or 2 tonight.

Thursday Billboard Update - 2/4/10

Last week I warned to anticipate a huge week for the Hope For Haiti Now compilation album. This week that warning seems comical as the album only racks up 142,900, about 28,000 less than what we saw in its first 2 days of availability. I didn't anticipate the drop in coverage by the 24-hour news networks, and the lack of staying power of its 2 biggest tracks (Taylor Swift's Today Was A Fairytale fell 2-22 and Jay-Z, Bono, and Rihanna's Stranded fell 16-85). The big winner this week is Grammy award winning country group Lady Antebellum, whose Need You Now album moved 481,000 in its first week. Also debuting this week is Corinne Bailey Rae's The Sea at #7 with 53,400.

This got shaken up a bit this week on the Hot 100. The 2 tracks that debuted in the top 10 last week (Taylor Swift's Today Was A Fairy Tale at #2 and Justin Bieber's Baby at #5) fell out this week, and a former #1 (Jay-Z's Empire State Of Mind) did the same. Taking their spots are Black Eyed Peas' Imma Be finally breaking through at #4, Ludacris' How Low returning at #6, and Lady Antebellum's title track at #8. After their Grammy performance this past Sunday, don't be shocked if Imma Be takes over the top spot next week.

• Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris' Hallelujah from the Hope For Haiti Now album soars 35 spots 48-13 in its 2nd week.
• Another new high for Snoop Dogg's I Wanna Rock this week as it jumps 19 spaces 60-41 this week.
• Say Something by Timbaland (but mostly by Drake) continues its northern momentum as it climbs another 15 spots 61-46.
• After debuting a few weeks back, Usher's Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home) found its out of the top 100 last week, but its returns to a new high at #80 this week.
• B.o.B's first single from his first album is his first charted record ever as Nothin' On You featuring Bruno Mars comes in at #89. I love this song so I hope it does well. B.o.B Presents The Adventures Of Bobby Ray is due May 25th.
• Jennifer Hudson's new joint featuring The Roots, Let It Be, checks in at #98.

Example: When you have hot shit like this (which could have easily been an outro) not even making the cut, you know you're flirting with a classic. Its a shame we don't get this kind of great music more often, but I'm not gonna complain and rather be joyous that it has finally arrived.
