Thursday Billboard Update - 4/19/12

In a shocker, Lionel Richie's Tuskegee is the new #1 album in the country, 3 weeks after its release, with 129,000 sold. Debuting at #4 is Monica's New Life with 69,500 sold. Down at #10 is newcomer Hoodie Allen and his debut EP All American with 28,000 sold. That's insane!

We also have a new #1 on the Hot 100 as Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know overtakes fun.'s We Are Young.

Hoodie Allen: White Drake?

It's funny that I just so happened to check out Hoodie Allen for the first time yesterday, then today when I was preparing for the Thursday Billboard Update tomorrow, I saw that his EP All American debuted at #10 with 28,000 copies sold. Not bad at all for a relatively unknown artist.

Anyway, on this song in particular, Hoodie reminds me a lot of a white version of Drake. Yeah, he sings on it at certain points, but the connection is more because of his flow than the singing.
