A Reminder...

Heat-Lakers on Christmas
You can click to enlarge if you want to, but this is just a little reminder for all the Lakers fans saying and thinking, "we loss on Christmas last year and won the championship."

I probably don't need to remind anyone that the Lakers didn't win any championships after these 3 consecutive Christmas Day losses to the Heat.

Now, I'm not saying the Heat are going to win the title, but I am saying that saying, "we loss on Christmas last year and won the championship," is a retarded argument.

Random News Shit: SportsCenter Edition

Manny and Papi
1) Manny & Big Papi Tested Positive For PEDs In 2003
Papi, Papi, Papi. When I was at work and saw this breaking news I was stunned! We knew Manny was juicing, but Papi was JUST saying how everybody should be tested and banned from the league if they test positive before the season. Shit is sad, but can we finally stop acting like everybody wasn't juicing in baseball??

And just in case you follow me on Twitter, yes, Bill Simmons is still on suicide watch lol. Can't wait for the next B.S. Report with JackO!

2) Lamar Odom To Stay With Lakers
Son of a bitch! Welp, looks like the Lakers remain in the driver seat in the league. Looks like he's got the 4 years he wanted BUT mostly likely its gonna be worth $33 million instead of the 3-year/$35 million they originally offered. Tough break nigga.

Anyway, Miami HAS to pull off that Boozer trade now for sure!

Random News Shit: Big Money Edition

1) Terrell Suggs, Ravens Agree on $63M Deal
And with that deal inked, the Ravens have just made T-Sizzle the highest paid linebacker in NFL history. His signing bonus of $33.1 million is second only to Peyton Manning who got $34 million. This deal may be a bit much, but its hard to say the guy isn't worth it.

2) Chiefs Lock Up Matt Cassel For $63M
It seems like $63 million is the magic number for NFL deals this week lol. Anyway, the Kansas City Chiefs have officially put their future in the hands of Matt Cassel by giving him $63 million over 6 years to be their quarterback. We'll see if he's worth it once the season starts, but something tells me he was more a product of New England's system (like Tom Brady) than an actual great QB. I think the Chiefs will regret this in a few years.

BUT the positive is that if Cassel succeeds in that lesser system in Kansas City, then maybe it'll legitimize Tom Brady who is the ultimate product of a great system lol.

3) Lakers Pull $27M/3-Yr Deal For Odom
Good because they KNOW they're gonna have to do much better than that to keep Lamar in purple and gold. The $9 million a year figure looks about right, but only 3 years?? The guy is only 29 and didn't even start putting real effort forward in his career until a few years ago, I think he has more in the tank than 3 years. Well, unless they know something we don't know about his health and love of candy.

Random News Shit: NBA Free Agency Edition Pt. II

Kobe and Artest
1) Artest Plans To Sign With Lakers; Ariza Plans To Sign With Rockets
In all the time I've been a fan of the NBA, I don't think I'd ever heard of a situation like this where two players swap teams on the same day and are not involved in a trade. Free agents can't officially sign with a team until July 8th, but Ron Artest's deal will be 3 years and worth about $18 million while Trevor Ariza's will be... exactly the same thing! This is getting freaky lol.

Anyway, though Ron Artest has the bigger name, I'm not sure who got that better of this arrangement?? I mean both Artest and Ariza are great defenders who are capable of knocking down threes when needed. The only difference is that Ariza won't be getting all those open looks like he did when he played with Kobe.

How about the Lakers now though?? Kobe, Pau, Odom, and Artest?? If they can get some better play out of Jordan Farmar I think you can pretty much pen L.A. in as the favorites to be the champs again next season. And just in case you were wondering, yes my "09 Ariza = 08 Posey, 09 Lakers = 08 Celtics" theory from yesterday has officially been tossed in the trash can. Had to be done.

2) Shaq Introduced In Cleveland
Shaq said that he wants to "win a ring for the King" in his introductory press conference. I'm not so sure how that's gonna go with Ron Artest now a Laker, but it should get interesting. The Magic really let the LeBrons off the hook by most likely letting Hedo walk in exchange for Vince Carter, but who knows.

Oh yeah, Shaq also made an appearance on PTI today and Michael Wilbon offered some new Cleveland nicknames and the one Shaq liked the best was "The Big Witness Protection." I must say, I really like that one too and I think its all but settled at this point.

3) Riley Contacts Iverson About Joining Heat??
Now this is according to "insiders" so don't take it as fact, but if there's any truth to it Pat Riley is on one. Don't get me wrong, I love Allen Iverson, but he isn't what the Heat need at all. The Heat don't need another scoring guard, they need some consistent big men. Plus, where is he gonna play?? Are they gonna stunt Mario Chalmers' growth and put him on the bench?? You KNOW Iverson isn't coming off the bench. This is just a bad idea if you ask me. I'd much rather hear about the Heat trying to pursue Iverson's team mate last year Rasheed Wallace. Speaking of 'Sheed...

4) Celtics Bring Out Big Guns To Woo Wallace
"Celtics managing partner Wyc Grousbeck, team president Danny Ainge, coach Doc Rivers and All-Stars Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, all met with Wallace for three hours in Detroit"

Damn! The Heat need to do the same thing, but instead of coaches and team execs they should bring along the Miami Caliente. If you don't know who the Miami Caliente's are, they're Miami's team in the Lingerie Football League! More on them later, but I think that would definitely do the trick.

Kobe & The Lakers On Jimmy Kimmel

This is DEFINITELY worth watching. Trust me lol.

Part 2 and a lil commentary from me after the jump.

LMAO@ DJ Mbenga's face.
LMAO@ Kobe initially not knowing DJ Mbenga's name.
LMAO@ Adam Morrison being there.
LMAO@ Adam Morrison being high while being there.

Good stuff! Oh, and did you hear the breaking news?? Kobe said Lamar Odom is staying in L.A. next season. That's probably true though because as Bill Simmons often reminds his readers, in an interview Odom said he doesn't want to NOT live on the beach so that means he's either gonna play for the Lakers, Clippers, or Heat seeing they are the only teams that play on the beach. Sadly, Trevor Ariza is probably that one that's gonna be gone because I don't know if the Lakers can afford to keep him and Lamar.

FiyahMuZik.com's NBA Finals Preview & Pick

nba_g_kobedwight_576.jpg Kobe vs Dwight image by shaunhoward
Welp, tonight is the night! Lakers vs. Magic. L.A. vs. Orlando. The Black Mamba vs. Superman 2.0. Kobe's puppet vs. Dwight's still-under-construction-puppet. Disneyland vs. Disney World. Shaq's first team vs. Shaq's second team. Adam Morrison vs. J.J. Redick! That's right, the 2009 NBA Finals is finally upon us! (Its about time too because its so fuckin' boring with no basketball on to watch at night. Do you know I actually sat and watched a baseball game the other night?? Yeah, its that boring.)

Anyway, my little playoff bracket was fucked by Nike, Vitamin Water, and ESPN's insistence on crowning LeBron king before the Eastern Conference Finals even started. That's okay though, because this match up should be VERY interesting.

With that being said, I want to go ahead and give a warning to all Lakers fans and the general public who are automatically assuming this will be a cake walk now that LeBron isn't around. While the Lakers beat the Cavs both times they played during the regular season (both times by double digits, once when Kobe dislocated his finger and once when Kobe was sick and LeBron was coming off his 50 point triple-double against the Knicks), they also lost to the Magic both times they played (the first time Kobe hit a then season high 41, and the second time Kobe had a triple-double). Let me simplify that for you: Laker 2-0 vs. Cavs, Lakers 0-2 vs. Magic. And, as was proven by the Magic's continued ownership of the Cavs, the regular season does matter. Go ahead and process that.

Now of course there's a bit of a difference between now and then: 1) the Lakers had a healthy Andrew Bynum 2) the Magic had a healthy Jameer Nelson. Lakers faithful can find solace in the fact that Orlando needed every bit of Nelson's 27, 4, and 5 from the first meeting (11-16 from the field, 4-6 from three) and 28, 6, and 8 in from the second meeting (9-18 from the field, 3-6 from three) to take them out, seeing that if Nelson does play he'll be nowhere near that level. BUT at the same time, if Andrew Bynum got bodied by Dwight Howard on a healthy knee (including a 25 point, 20 rebound, 3 block in the second match-up), what can you expect with him playing on a sore knee?? Look for Dwight to be dominant in the paint.

The X-factor in this whole series will be Lamar Odom and what he decides to bring to the table. If the Lakers can get 18, 10, and 6 from him per game off the bench then they should be sitting pretty. If he doesn't show up and gives them 4, 5, and 2 then the Lakers will be in trouble. Odom will also need to show up on the defensive end. He and Trevor Ariza are better match-ups for Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis than Anderson Varejao and Delonte West (seeing that LeBron wanted no part of guarding either) were in the Magic-Cavs series. Hedo and 'Shard won't have as many wide open looks with faster defenders on them... that is, if Odom decides to show up.

At the end of the day, I just don't see Kobe letting another ring pass him by like in his last 2 trips to the Finals. The Magic have already won by just reaching the Finals, but its definitely Kobe's to lose. I'm gonna go with Lakers in 6. (Side note: What's up with people predicting Magic in 7?? Does anyone actually think the Magic would be capable of going into the Staples Center for a game 7 against Kobe and win?? You've GOT to be joking.)

Now, I'll leave you with Kobe Bryant's blatant disrespect of Dwight Howard's existence from wight's rookie year in 2004.

Lamar Odom Loves Candy!

This could be the reason behind Odom's up and down play. If he ate regular maybe he would've lived up to his potential!

Kobe Puppets Punches Its Ticket To The Finals

DENVER - MAY 29: Kobe Bryant #24 of the Los Angeles Lakers reacts in the second half against the Denver Nuggets in Game Six of the Western Conference Finals during the 2009 NBA Playoffs at Pepsi Center on May 29, 2009 in Denver, Colorado.
Fun fact: Its actually David Alan Grier who does the voice for the Kobe Bryant puppet. Yes, its true! I was listening to D.A.G. on Adam Carolla's podcast yesterday and he spilled the beans. Well at least now we have someone to focus our hate on lol. Still no word on who does LeBron, but I'm thinking its Kenan Thompson (just did the research, yeah its Kenan).

Anyway, on the strength of Kobe's 35 and 10, the Lakers are now in the big dance and now we're waiting on either Dwight or LeBron. Which puppet will it be?? I can honestly see it going either way. I could definitely see the LeBrons taking game 6 tonight and forcing a game 7 back in Cleveland. At the same time, I could see the Magic ending it all tonight. I'm confused. I'm just tired of these dumbass puppet commercials!!!

Lakers Take Game 5 & 3-2 Series Lead

LOS ANGELES, CA - MAY 27: (2nd R) Sasha Vujacic #18 of the Los Angeles Lakers is hugged by teammate Kobe Bryant #24 and greeted by teammates Lamar Odom #7, Derek Fisher #2 and Pau Gasol #16 of the Lakers in the second quarter against the Denver Nuggets in Game Five of the Western Conference Finals during the 2009 NBA Playoffs at Staples Center on May 27, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.
Just for tonight we can leave the Carmelo puppet in the box as the Lakers take game 5 103-94. Kobe only needed 22 points as his supporting cast showed up in a major way (like the LeBrons didn't for the King).

The Lakers finally got something from Derek Fisher and Shannon Brown gave some very useful minutes in the 3rd and 4th quarters (including that monster dunk on Birdman), but the biggest piece was Lamar Odom. Odom gave his team 19 and 14 off the bench for what was easily his best game of the series.

Welp, game 6 is Friday night so maybe Kobe punches his ticket to the NBA Finals in his favorite state, Colorado. Can't wait for tomorrow night's LeBrons/Magic game 5!

Odom, Lakers Hand Cavs First Home Loss

The Lakers end yet another streak as they give the Cleveland Cavs (39-10) their first home loss of the season after 23 straight wins. Guess what player in this game made the biggest difference?? Not Kobe, not LeBron, but Lamar Odom! If you asked me how much Lamar Odom would finish with before the game started, I probably would've said under 10, but today he scored a season-high 28 and pulled down a season-high 17 boards. The Lakers (41-9) will need more performances like that if they wanna get back to the Finals.

The other big story in this game was that now L.A. has homecourt advantage in the case of them reaching the Finals again and playing either Boston or Cleveland since they swept both season series. That's huge! Especially for Cleveland seeing they are an unimpressive 16-9 on the road this year.

Kobe Hits Record 61 Points In The Garden!

KOBE!
The man does it again! In a 126-117 win over the Knicks, Kobe hit 61 points to break the old Madison Square Garden mark of 60 hit by Bernard King in 1984. I guess this was Kobe's way of saying sorry for injuring Bynum lol.

Plus, to add a little insult to injury, Pau Gasol also chipped in with 31 and 14.

Andrew Bynum Out 8-12 Weeks

In 12 weeks it'll be the end of April and the playoffs will be under way BUT remember he was supposed to be back during the playoffs last year and never came back. Looks like deja vu to me. This one is on you Kobe so you need to hit 40 a night from here out to make up for it lol. This is the kinda stuff Kobe thrives on though so we'll see.

High Pau-wered

Great fuckin' game! In the end Kobe deferred to Pau Gasol and it worked out the right way this time. With this 92-83 victory the Lakers end the Celtics' 19 game win streak and drop them to 27-3. Finals preview?? You damn right!

This game just made my Christmas because today was boring as fuck! Christmas is a lot more boring than I remember. I need to make some kids or something nigga. Ladies, holla at me if you wanna lend me an egg ;-) lol.

L.A., Boston Game 2 Tonight!

Welp tonight is game 2, how ya got?? I got L.A. because I don't think they'll let Boston take both games in Boston. Kobe knows that can't happen...then again I guess it can because the Heat did in '06 and still won lol. Anyway, yeah I got my money on the Lakers.

Check out this kool commercial I just saw on YouTube. They need to start running this on TV!

Game 1, Boston

What a game! I was hyped off this game 1 like it was a game 7 lol. If for some reason you weren't watching the final score was Boston 98-88. I predicted Boston would win the 1st game with the Lakers ultimately winning in 6 on the phone earlier, but I don't know now. I'm just lost with this series as a whole because K.G. has been my favorite player since Jordan retired the 2nd time, but I'm not too big on the Celtics and at the same time I love Kobe and the Lakers. I just don't know who I want to win, but this has been a great series so far just off this one game.

How ill was it when Paul Pierce came back to the game and you saw the crowd all standing like they were doing the wave and shit lol. Then Pierce goes right to work and busts two 3's back to back!

And how about that put-back dunk Garnett had late in the 4th?? That shit was sick! Oh yeah and that alley oop from Fisher to Kobe mid-way through the 3rd?? Can't forget the 4-point play Pierce had at the beginning of the 3rd. Man, this was just a great game! I can't wait until game 2 Sunday, I'm out!

And Then There Was 2

With there win tonight the Celtics make it back to the Finals for the first time since 1987! I fuckin' 2 years-old son! lol. Its crazy how things work out because remember how heart broken they were after they didn't get the #1 pick and the chance to draft Greg Oden last year?? Well if they had they wouldn't have been able to trade for Ray Allen or Kevin Garnett...oh and not to mention that Greg Oden didn't play one game this season. Yep, its funny how those things work lol.

Now, I don't wanna say I told you so...but I kinda did...well if you got Facebook and saw my bracket lol. On that bracket I had Boston beating L.A. in 6 games considering they were the best team in the league and they are 8-2 against the Lakers in the Finals BUT I don't know about that pick anymore. Whatever, lets just hope they don't break out the booty shorts again lol.

Anyway, the Finals start this Thursday June 5th and somewhere all ABC execs are thanking the Lord they didn't have to try to promote another Spurs/Pistons series lol.

Kobe Will Win MVP

Its about damn time! I can't believe it took this long for Kobe to win ONE, especially with the way he's been dominating the past few seasons. Then again, the NBA MVP Award is bullshit, I mean just think of how dominate Shaq was and then think he's only won it ONCE lol.

Anyway, L.A. Times is reporting this so you have to take this with a grain of salt after that whole false ass 2Pac/Diddy story back in February lol.

Why???: The Lakers Playing In Booty Shorts

Okay, who the hell idea was it to play in these little ass plum smugglers??? You know it was some fruit sitting around in the meeting like 'it'd be cool if the guys wore short shorts tonight' lol.
