Just fast forward to 3:40 and hear about how afraid Kevin Durant is of Lil B on the basketball court. Yeah, Kevin Durant can do this, but he's never played the Based God aka the best point guard on the West coast (Chris Paul included).

2012 NBA All-Star Starters Announced
The first, and most obvious, snub is Kevin Love. I mean, all Big Love has done this year is average 25.3 points a game (4th in the NBA behind Kobe, LeBron, and Durant) and 13.6 rebounds a game (2nd in the NBA). Don't get me wrong, I totally get why Blake Griffin got the nod, but it's a shame someone can put together those type of numbers and not start in the All-Star game.
I'm fine with the rest, thought I wouldn't have been mad if Bosh started over Carmelo.

Kevin Durant Catches Fire At Rucker Park
A-fucking-mazing! And the craziest part is that was only 12 of his 66 points last night. I mean, he should be able to score 66 considering the competition, but I've got a feeling those weren't the only 4 long range jumpers he hit on the night.

LeBron, Durant NBA Players Of The Months For April

Out on the West, Kevin Durant lead his squad to a 5-3 mark in April while averaging 26.8 points and 7.3 rebounds. This is KD's 2nd Player of the Month award of the season. Good thing he wasn't in the MVP conversation either, I mean, all he did was lead the league in scoring.

Random News Shit: SportsCenter Edition
As a Cowboys fan, I hate this, but as a football fan, I agree with the Eagles decision to put their franchise tag on Michael Vick. Of course there's going to have to be a CBA in place before they can do anything, but if there is still a franchise tag when the dust settles, might as well use it on Vick. I would still try to keep Kevin Kolb as insurance, but if the guy wants to get a shot to start somewhere else, I'm fine with them seeking a trade.
Can NFL teams make 3-team trades?? I've never heard of it being done, but if they can, I don't see why the Eagles, Titans, and a 3rd team that needs a QB wouldn't enter a 3-teamer that would land Kolb in Tennessee, Vince Young on the 3rd team needing a QB, and draft picks for Philly.
2) Kevin Durant Calls Out Chris Bosh
"I was talking to my teammate and he decided he wanted to put his 2 cents into it. I'm a quiet guy, a laid-back guy, but I'm not going to let nobody talk trash to me. He's on a good team now, so he thinks he can talk a little bit....There's a lot of fake tough guys in this league and he's one of them."
Chris Bosh is a fake tough guy?? Chris will probably take that as a compliment because I'm sure that's the first time his name and "tough" as been brought up in the same breath.
Look, it's nice KD allegedly stuck up for his teammate, but calling out the kind and cuddly Chris Bosh doesn't impress me. Especially when your team loss.
3) Maurkice Pouncey Out For The Super Bowl
This matters, but not really. The Steelers ARE going to win the Super Bowl, so at the end of the day, Pouncey's absence will be a non-factor.
Now I need to figure out if I will even bother writing a NFL Winners & Losers column for Friday because I'm 100% positive the Packers are going to lose. Well, we'll see.
4) Pacers Fire Jim O'Brien
Hands up if you knew Jim O'Brien was still coaching in the NBA.
*crickets*
Just as I figured.
5) Cavs Lose 20th Straight Game
Damn, it was all good just a Decision ago.
Oh well, see you in Miami tonight guys!
6) O.J. Mayo Blames Positive Test On Energy Drink
Skimming that article, I didn't see the name of said energy drink. If it was just a run of the mill energy drink, I say reduce the suspension, but if it was a Four Loko, I say tack on 10 more games. You don't deserve a game check if you drink Four Lokos.

2011 NBA All-Star Starters Announced
Yao Ming C Dwight Howard
Carmelo Anthony F Amare Stoudemire
Kevin Durant F LeBron James
Kobe Bryant G Dwyane Wade
Chris Paul G Derrick Rose
Anyway, Kobe got the most votes overall with 2,380,016, and Dwight Howard came in 2nd with 2,099,204. Coming in 3rd with 2,053,011 votes? LeBron James. People sure do hate that guy, I tell ya. Another funny thing in the voting is that Jamal Crawford (246,130) actually got more votes than teammate Joe Johnson (224,571). $119 million well spent.
The reserves will be announced next Thursday (February 3rd) on TNT.

Wade & James Co-Players Of The Month; Spoelstra Coach Of The Month

Boy, I don't think these guys will better learn to play together.
On the coach side of things, what a difference a month makes. In November, everyone (who disagreed with LeBron's decision) thought Erik Spoelstra should be fired, and now he's the Eastern Conference Coach Of The Month.
If only he could figure out what to do with all this talent.
Anyway, I haven't forgotten about the West Coast, Kevin Durant won Western Conference Player Of The Month by averaging 29.4 ppg, shooting 52% from the field, and 41% three while leading the Thunder to an 11-5 mark for the month. The Spurs' Gregg Popovich was named Western Conference Player Of The Month with his squad going 13-2 in the month.

NBA Live Is No More
I was just gingerly scrolling through ESPN's video game blog when I came across this post from June about NBA Elite 11. Apparently this news was broken earlier this year, but EA failed to inform loyal NBA Live purchaser Kevin Chestnut. Hold on, I think I need a moment.
Now as a fan of NBA Live since it's 1995 version for Super Nintendo (before you could even create a player), I'm both outraged and sad. Why change the name, why not just make a better game?? It's not like you can re-package the shitty NBA Live 10 under a different name and I'd buy it. I need some improvement from that turd bowl, beginning with restoring the controls back to normal.
When I tell you I only played Live 10 twice, I literally mean I've only played it twice, and I didn't make it out of the first quarter either game. I just could not get a hang of the new controls, nor was I interested in learning. So yeah, that was a waste of money, but even I wasn't mad to the point I wanted the series to be changed to something else.
I must say, I'm having a tough time wrapping my brain about being a NBA Elite guy, but I've come to my decision. This year, this is tough, I'm gonna be taking my NBA video game talents to 2K Sports. I'm going buy NBA 2K11. Sorry, Kevin Durant.

Random News Shit: NBA Free Agency Edition Pt. 4

Okay, the first new development is that the actual announcement will be made within the first 10 minutes of the 9pm special. I, like many other, just figure he'd wait until the end and have a lot of build up, but nope, he's going straight in at the top of the hour.
The special itself will be broadcast in a neutral city, Greenwich, Connecticut, at the Boys and Girls Club. Sponsorship will be sold during the special and the money will all be donated from LeBron to the Boys and Girls Club. Nice! I dare someone to talk shit about that idea.
LeBron's camp handpicked Jim Gray to do most of the heavy lifting on the night, but Michael Wilbon "and others" will also contribute via satellite from ESPN's studios in Bristol, Connecticut. I ain't mad at the choice, but I would've picked Stu Scott.
Remember (as if you would be let forget) the decision special starts at 9pm ET on ESPN.
(Side note: One of Bill Simmons' reader actually suggested LeBron do a live event like this way back in November. That's crazy!)
2) Carlos Boozer Agrees To 5-Year/$80M Deal With Bulls
I think this deal makes LeBron's decision that much clearer. Right now it's either stay in Cleveland with nobody, go Miami with Wade and Bosh, go to NY with Amare, or go to Chicago with Boozer. I think New Jersey is completely out of it now.
For Boozer's sake, the Bulls better land LeBron or he's in no better situation than he left in Utah.
3) Kevin Durant, Thunder Agree On 5-Year Extension
KD must have a lot of faith in the moves his team is making, and really why wouldn't he? Sam Presti has dome a masterful job assembling that roster.
The deal is said to be worth $86 million. Not bad, but it might have gotten more had he signed a shorter extension and and became a free agent after 7 years like Wade, LeBron, and Bosh did. Oh well, it's more money than I'll ever have, so I ain't mad at him for taking it now.
4) 2010-11 NBA Salary Cap Set at $58 Million
That's about $2 million more than most teams had previously thought. Even better for the Heat's chances of building a real contender around Wade and Bosh. I'm EXCITED!!!!!

Hyperizers - Don't Criticize (Hyperize)
Look at 'Shard, he actually has some flow! BAWSE says its because he's from Houston, but I say its because he moved to Florida. Follow me on this, he spit in a low voice which means one thing to me: He just started rapping! That means he learned in Florida where he's played the last few seasons. I win. Done and done!
Speaking of Rashard Lewis and the city of Houston, this whole arguments makes me think of how dumb the Rockets are. In the 1998 Draft they had THREE chances to take 'Shard, but opted for Michael Dickerson (LOL), Bryce Drew (LMAO), and Mirsad TĂ¼rkcan (Who??)! Here's the rationale of their GM at the time: "Anytime you can pick 3 guys who won't be in the league 10 years from now over a hometown kid, you've got to do it." Yeah, hindsight is 20/20, but come on, Mirsad TĂ¼rkcan?? Only the Clippers failed harder in that draft lol.
Anyway, to bring it back to sports and comedy, go read Bill Simmons' Athlete Funny Scale and figure out where this video ranks. I say 5.0.

Random News Shit: NBA Back To Business Edition
Some news and notes around the Association last night.
1) McGrady Will Miss Remainder Of Season
T-Mac will have micro-fracture surgery on his knee and miss the rest of the season. I'm shocked! Welp, so much for those "McGracy to Nets for Vince Carter" trade talks. I wrote something in late '07 suggesting maybe it was time for Tracy to call it a career. I think he ought to at least be considering it.
2) Shaq's shoe makes big impression on President Obama
I wonder what Mr. Pres is gonna do with that big ass shoe?? lol.
3) Suns score 140 as in Gentry's debut
And that includes a season-high 81 in the first half. Just like that, are the old D'Antoni, run and gun Suns back?? It was against the Clippers, but still, 140 is quite impressive. I feel bad for Terry Porter, but I think this really just emphasizes how bad a job Steve Kerr has really done as GM seeing he is the one who canned D'Antoni. If the Suns wanna turn this thing around, they need to get rid of Kerr.
4) Howard scores career-high 45 in win over Bobcats
A man sized stat line for Dwight Howard last night! How does 45 points, 19 boards, and 8 blocks sound?? Grown man stats right there.
5) Hornets overcome Durant's career-high 47, nip Thunder
One last time, why wasn't he playing Sunday again??

Winners & Losers: All-Star Weekend Edition
I should've though to do this earlier seeing I already missed the Celebrity Game and the Rookie Challenge, but its all good because the best stuff starts now.
1) Slam Dunk Contest
The Field: Dwight Howard, ORL; Nate Robinson, NYK; Rudy Fernandez, POR; J.R. Smith, DEN
I think J.R. Smith is poised to come in last place because he was a last minute addition when Rudy Gay couldn't go. Rudy Fernandez is my dark house because I've seen him do some shit in real games! The only thing is, I don't know if that'll translate into being able to come up with creative dunks. We all know Nate Robinson can get up, but yesterday on First Take he said he hadn't really practiced any new dunks. That's NOT a good sign, especially considering how many attempts it took him to complete a dunk a few years back. We all know Dwight Howard is Superman, but in reality, he didn't even really dunk that ball last year. Add that to the fact that recent history as shown to be unkind to defending Dunk Champs (see Gerald Green last year). lus, how much can he really do different with that huge body of his??
If the basketball gods see do us right, the final will be between defending champion Dwight Howard and former champion Nate Robinson. If that is the case, I think I'm gonna ride with Lil Nate. I think Dwight will run out of dunks and I don't know if I realy believe Nate hasn't been working on new material.
Winner: Nate Robinson, NYK
2) Three Point Shoot-Out
The Field: Mike Bibby, ATL; Daequan Cook, MIA; Danny Granger, IND; Jason Kapono, TOR; Rashard Lewis, ORL; Roger Mason, SAS
Will Jason Kapono make it 3 straight?? I think not! Kapono should definitely be watching his back for either Daequan Cook or Roger Mason to take him title this year. My dark horse here is Mike Bibby solely because I heard he guaranteed victory so he'll come out that much more focus...but ultimately will probably lose to Daequan or Mason.
Its hard to just pick one but since I'm from South Florida and I get to see this kid gunning all the time, I'm gonna go with Daequan Cook as the winner in a final between he and Roger Mason.
Winner: Daequan Cook, MIA
3) H-O-R-S-E...uhh... G-E-I-C-O
The Field: Kevin Durant, OKC; O.J. Mayo, MEM; Joe Johnson, ATL
Are you serious?? K.D. is hot right now and fresh off that MVP, 46 point splash down last night at the Rookie Challenge. I don't see any way that he loses this thing.
Winner: Kevin Durant, OKC
4) Skills Challenge
The Field: Devin Harris, NJN; Tony Parker, SAS; Derrick Rose, CHI; Mo Williams, CLE
This should be a good one, but I think we can go ahead and eliminate Mo Williams right now. He's not winning lol. Anyway, I think this will be a 2 man race between Devin Harris and Tony Parker because they are the quickest. Parker is the better passer of the 2 so I'm gonn have to go with Mr. Longoria.
Winner: Tony Parker, SAS
5) Shooting Stars Competition
The Field: Team San Antonio (Tim Duncan, David Robinson, & Becky Hammon); Team Detroit (Arron Afflalo, Bill Laimbeer, & Katie Smith); Team Los Angeles (Derek Fisher, Michael Cooper, & Lisa Leslie); Team Phoenix (Leandro Barbosa, Dan Majerle, & Tangela Smith)
Team San Antonio are the depending champs in this competition, but I don't see Tim Duncan hitting those long range 3's again this year lol. I gotta go with Team Phoenix because if you watch the Celebrity Game you'd know Dan Majerle hasn't lost his shot one bit. Add Leandro, who is a streaky shooter and Tangelo Smith and I think you have the 2009 winners.
Winner: Team Phoenix
The 2009 NBA All-Star Game
Here's the main event. The reason everybody came to Phoenix. The NBA All-Star Game!! Sadly, this game probably won't even end up being close. Did you see the East's roster?? LeBron, D-Wade, and like 6 or 7 stone cold shooters. The West doesn't stand a chance unless Kobe goes for 60.
Winner: East

Durant's 46 Leads Sophomore To 122-116 Victory
Kevin Durant hit a Rookie Challenge record 46 points as he lead his Sophomore team to a 122-116 win over the Rookies. That was obviously enough to earn K.D. MVP honors seeing that nobody else on his team scored any more than 13 lol. And why isn't he playing in Sunday's All-Star game again?? Michael Beasley lead the Rooks in scoring with 29.
The biggest loss of the night (beside's Dwyane Wade's suit) was Greg Oden who sat out because of yet another injury. This guy can't win lol.
Anyway, this is the Sophomore's 7th win in a row, but this is the most shocking win over the Rookies since the c/o '03 Rookies lost while being lead by LeBron, Wade, and 'Melo. I thought surely Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo and the rest of the rookies would have what it took to win this game, but I guess not. Oh well, they'll win next year as Sophomore, and yes I'm predicting a blow out.

Random News Shit: NBA Edition
1) Mo Williams replaces Chris Bosh for East All-Stars
Okay, finally that put this in on the roster so we can stop hearing the Cavs bitching about how their 17 PPG, 4 APG player deserved to be an All-Star.
2) Kevin Durant, O.J. Mayo, and Joe Johnson to compete in All-Star H-O-R-S-E
I could've sworn they changed it to G-E-I-C-O but whatever. They could've tried to get more star power involved but again, whatever.
3) LeBron Finally Passes D-Wade As Top Scorer
After Tuesday night's 47 point splash down, LeBron is now the leading scorer in the league at 28.6 PPG. Dwyane Wade, who had lead the league for majority of the season, now averages 28.4 after hitting 33 last night against Denver.
