Thursday Billboard Update - 3/31/11

F.A.M.E.
Chris Brown's F.A.M.E. didn't reach the 1 million sold plateau he was hoping for, but it does reach #1, selling 271,000 copies first week. While Chrisqo has had an album that's sold more first week, this is his first career #1. Coming in at #2 is Jennifer Hudson's I Remember Me with 165,100 sold. Kirk Franklin's Hello Fear debuts at #5 with a robust 78,800 sold. Last, but not least, Bobby V's (I'm assuming he's officially dropped the Valentino?) Fly On The Wall at #9 with 37,600 sold.

Over on the Hot 100, we have a new #1 and its Katy Perry's E.T. featuring Kanye West. The top debut this week is Wiz Khalifa's No Sleep blasting off at #6. And sadly Bruno Mars' Grenade finally exits the top 10 this week. But look on the bright side, maybe this will finally put an end to people making the fucked out jokes about not being willing to catch a grenade for anyone.

A Bacon Sundae? Word, Denny's? Word??

Denny's Bacon Sundae
There I was, writing about the Cavs beating the Heat, when a Denny's commercial came on promoting "Baconalia." Baconalia is Denny's "celebration of bacon" where it introduces 7 new bacon-based dishes. One of those dishes: the Maple Bacon Sundae. That's right, ice cream and bacon, or as I like it to call it "the cross over point between health and heart disease" (yeah it's a bit lengthy, but so won't your life be if you think it's a good idea to eat this). Here's a description of the new dish from Dennys.com:

Celebrate Now, Get Re-Depressed When You Realize You're Still In Cleveland

Cleveland Cavaliers' Baron Davis raises his arms in celebration after hitting a shot during the fourth quarter of their NBA basketball game against the Miami Heat in Cleveland March 29, 2011.
So this is what it feels like to be a Knicks fan? Oh well, at least it only happened once and not 3 times like it did to them.

Now, as odd as this might sound, I'm not mad even mad about this loss. Nope, not at all. This game meant nothing to us and everything to them. Cleveland is probably having a national championship-esque celebration in their dirty streets right now while planning a victory parade for tomorrow.

Bow Wow - Here I Go Freestyle

Since I just posted the video where Snoop Dogg brought out Mystikal in B.R., I figured I might as well post this as well. Here I Go is definitely one of the dopest beats in Hip-Hop history, and it HARD to fuck up when spitting over it.

Speaking of the Here I Go beat, I was thinking about creating a list of the illest beats in Hip-Hop history. Me and Andy flirted with this idea back in about 2006 and never did it, but I think now is the time for it. If you have any suggestions don't hesitate to let me know.

Snoop Dogg Brings Out Mystikal In Baton Rouge

Yeah this video is a few days old now, but I still get hyped up watching it. Mystikal is still that nigga.

Nicki Minaj Gives Lil Wayne A Lap Dance

I said it last week when this video came out: I don't care how fine the girl is, I don't want a lap dance from NOBODY with a hightop fade. I know it's just a wig, but that's too weird for me.

On another note, isn't Nicki from the Caribbean? I'd expect her to be less stiff. Damn New York!

This Week In Flops 3/29/11

Britney Spears - Femme Fatale
Coming in at #1 next week will be Britney Spears' Femme Fatale, the only thing left to settle now is how much she'll sell. Britney's 2008 effort Circus moved 505,000 first week, and while I don't think this album will reach those heights, it should still be an great opening week. My guess is 375-450k.

Wiz Khalifa - Rolling Papers
Wiz Khalifa is arguably the hottest rapper in the game right now (overall, not musically), now it's time to see if that heat can translate into record sales. Generally, weed-based rappers don't perform well, but I think Cruella Khalifa has a good shot at that #2 spot. For him, I'm going with 115-150k.

Snoop Dogg - Doggumentary
I can't think of a Snoop Dogg album less anticipated since Doggumentary the No Limit days. Now I'm not saying the album sucks or anything, but its been a LONG time since Dogg has had little-to-no buzz surrounding an album.

Regardless, its hitting stores today, and I'm expecting sales in the range of 50-90k.

Mary Mary - Something Big
This is the first time I've had a gospel album on TWIF, so I'm not familiar with what they usually sell. And yes, that is a built in excuse because I expect to be totally wrong with my guess of 30-60k.

E-40 - Revenue Retrievin': Graveyard Shift
E-40 - Revenue Retrievin': Overtime Shift
I'm not sure we needed dual E-40 albums in consecutive years, but nevertheless he's back with Graveyard and Overtime Shirt of his Revenue Retrievin' series. Sales of both album should be nearly identical once again, and I'm guessing 10-15k.

PopEater Interview With Jim Gaffigan

I don't post many interviews, but this shit was fuckin' hilarious! Clean comics generally don't make me laugh, but Jim Gaffigan is one of my favorite doing it clean or dirty.

Old Money

I was pleasantly surprised at Drake's comedic chops in this skit and in the small piece we see of him host the Juno Awards near the end. In just that little piece he outdid both James Franco's performance co-hosting the Oscars and Chelsea Handler hosting last year's VMAs. Who knew?

Whatever, funny stuff, and I'm all for the funny.

Video Girl Trailer

Much like 50 Cent's "Things Fall Apart," when I first heard about this movie I had no idea it was gonna be a measly low budget film. Oh well, Meagan Good is in it so I want to see it. Plus, I have a good feeling about her finally doing a full on nude scene in this one. Fingers crossed.

Things Fall Apart Trailer (50 Cent Movie)

Remember when 50 Cent loss all that last year for a movie role? Well this is the movie role. I know what you're thinking, "50 lost." Well I'm here to tell you...you're absolutely right, 50 did indeed lose. This movie looks awful and 50's acting looks almost as bad as his dreads. It looks like he found those dreads in a box in marked "8 Mile memories" buried DEEP in Eminem's garage. Didn't he write the screenplay for this shit anyway? Were the dreads that essential to the story line?

Fif, just count your money and keep retweeting those fake ho accounts on Twitter, this acting shit ain't for you.

Fiyah's Show Of Disrespect Ep. 110

Fiyah's Show Of Disrespect
Wide range of topics this week from cunts on Twitter, douches at my job, Chris Brown, Lawrence Taylor, Nate Dogg's corpse, the black dude on Rebecca Black's song, Dez Bryant, and "Revenge Of The Nerds." Personally, I think this was my best overall show, but you decide for yourself. Enjoy!

Juicy Fruit Gangster's Paradise

I can't wait to start making some real money so I can afford to do foolish like this lol.

You Better Wear Them Jordans, Harrison

I don't know why, but I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I guess it's funny to think that if all those shoe geek losers would've spent more time working on their game than planning on breaking into Foot Locker to get the new Jordans first they could've made it to UNC and just got whatever they wanted for free. That's satisfying.

Thursday Billboard Update - 3/24/11

Adele 21
Adele's 21 goes 2-1 and returns to the top of the Billboard 200 this week with another 98,000 copies sold. Travis Barker's Give The Drummer Some debuts at #9 with sales of 28,000 first week.

The top 10 of the Hot 100 gets shaken up quite a bit as every track is in a new spot, except Lady Gaga's Born This Way, which remains at #1. Four new records also invaded the top 10 this week starting with Black Eyed Peas' Just Can't Get Enough flying 22-5 in a week. Next up is Glee Cast's Loser Like Me debuting at #6, followed by Chris Brown's Look At Me Now featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes rising 12-8, and Jeremih's Down On Me featuring 50 Cent hopping 13-10.

This Week In Flops 3/22/11

F.A.M.E.
Busy week and first up we have Chris Brown's 2nd album post-Rihanna beat down, F.A.M.E. Earlier today Chrisqo had a meltdown of sorts at Good Morning America after being asked some light questions about Rihanna. Verdict: publicity stunt. You mean to tell me this nigga couldn't keep his cool after being asked some simple questions about his legal situation? I don't buy it.

Everybody who wasn't gonna buy the album really isn't now, but his fans that were on the fence probably will now because they're gonna allow themselves to be brainwash into think Chrisqo is being picked on. He effectively rallied the base, I can't be mad at that. It should be a good week for him because of this, so I'm guess he does between 150-200k first week.

Jennifer Hudson
Next up is Jennifer Hudson's I Remember Me. I can't lie, I don't know much about this album, but I still think it's gonna be good for at least 80,000. I'm gonna go with 80-110k.

W.A.R.
Pharoahe Monch's last album did about 12,000 first week in 2007, and I think W.A.R. will do about the same. I'm guessing 8-15k for Pharoahe.

Gucci Mane
I have no idea if this is an album or a mixtape, but there's a video out, so I'm just gonna treat it like am album. Whatever, no one cares, 5-15k.

Lil B - Think I'm Based God

What the fucking fuck? This nigga CANNOT be serious. CANNOT! Like, what was he even talking about? He was just going from topic to topic not even rhyming or even making an attempt to stay on beat. Is this what's hot in the streets right now?? If so, please let me know now so I can move out the country. This nigga said he looks like Sam Cassell! Who says that??? This just can't be life, ain't no fuckin' way!

James "Flight" White!

There could be no more appropriate nickname for this guy, he's literally taking flight! I had to watch the first video like 8 times to make sure the shit was real because it looks like he had those strings Sisqo used to use in his solo videos attached to him and shit. Insane! Well enjoy this next video as well.

Look At Them Now

Mizz Twerksum still carried the show, but at least Lady L showed up this time. I don't know, I think I'm getting tired of them. They should really just start strippers to peak my interest again. And yes, they should do it for me, and only me.

Fab Five Backlash: The Common Sense Fail

"For me, Duke was personal. I hated Duke, and I hated everything I felt Duke stood for. Schools like Duke didn't recruit players like me. I felt like they only recruited black players that were Uncle Toms.

I was jealous of Grant Hill, he came from a great black family. Congratulations. Your mom went to college, and was roommates with Hillary Clinton. Your dad played in the NFL [and was] a very well spoken and successful man. I was upset and bitter that my mom had to bust her hump for 20-plus years. I was bitter that I had a professional athlete that was my father, that I didn't know. I resented that, more so than I resented him. I looked at it as, 'they are who the world accepts, and we are who the world hates.'"

Thursday Billboard Update - 3/17/11

Lasers
Coming in at #1 this week is Lupe Fiasco's Lasers with 204,300 copies sold. I don't think I've been this far off on a This Week In Flops guess in the history of this website. Oh well, congrats to Lupe.

Lady Gaga's Born This Way and Cee-Lo's Fuck You are still deadlocked at numbers 1 and 2, but we have a new #3 in Katy Perry's E.T. featuring Kanye West (8-3). And breaking into the top 10 this week is Britney Spears' Till The World Ends (20-9).

L.A. Reid Is Leaving Def Jam

L.A. Reid
And it's about damn time! L.A. Reid has been fucking up Def Jam and turning it into an R&B label for FAR too long. Now maybe Nas can release music again, though he recently said The Lost Tapes 2 is all but shelved until further notice (I guess this deads my hopes for LT2 being included free with his new album) in an interview with M Is For Music.

Whatever, L.A. is out, and maybe now Hip-Hop at Def Jam can return. Oh, and Def Jam, I'm available ;-).

R.I.P. Nate Dogg

R.I.P. Nate Dogg
Man, I'm filled with so much sadness and grief right now because of the loss of the legendary Nate Dogg. And I don't wanna hear none of that "West Coast legend" BS, Nate was a legend, legend. He didn't make hits with one side, he had hits with West Coast artists, East Coast artists, down South artists, the man was just a legend.

Nate will be remembered most for doing hooks (and please, Lord, PLEASE don't let T-Pain record some auto-tune bullshit tribute songs), and his resume is staggering, but don't sleep on his solo career either. I remember when my homies Jon Erik and Nelson put me up on his second album Music & Me by playing Backdoor, and I was instantly hooked. Soon after that, the whole album was in HEAVY rotation on my old CD player. I'm actually listening to Backdoor as I type this. Its so timeless that it could come out right now and get play, even though it got slept on back in 01-02.

Fiyah's Show Of Disrespect
I recorded this podcast yesterday just in case I wasn't able to record one today. Fortunately, I was able to record a new one today, but there was some good stuff in this one so I figure I'd post it as well. I talked about Biggie Day, McDonald's trying to order for you, and of course, the Miami Heat pre-Lakers win. Enjoy!
