Thursday Billboard Update - 2/23/12

Adele's 21 spends its 21st non-consective week at #1 by earning the biggest sales gain in SoundScan history. In it's 52nd week on the Billboard 200, 21 is up 207% and sold 729,900 copies in the past week. And this is all while debut album 19 slides to #4 with 87,000 sold. Talk about domination. Whitney Houston's Whitney: The Greatest Hits climbs 6-2 with 175,100 copies sold in its 2nd week after re-enter the charts. Bruno Mars' Doo-Wops & Hooligans sold another 37,900 copies and re-enters the top 10 (30-8) after his inspired performance at the Grammy's.

Katy Perry's Part Of Me wastes no time and debuts at #1 on the Hot 100. This is Perry's 7th #1 record in her relatively short career. Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You bumps up 7-3 in its 2nd week after re-entering the charts. Adele's Someone Like You hops 11-7 and re-joins the top 10. Nicki Minaj's awful new song Starships debuts at #9, and Chris Brown's equally awful new song Turn Up The Music debuts at #10.

  • Whitney's last album I Look To You is up 81% with 9,000 more copies sold while jumping 53 spots 118-65.
  • 1987's album Whitney sold 7,000 copies and flies 35 spots 122-87, up 46%.
  • The Preacher's Wife soundtrack sells 7,000 copies while entering the top 100 by skying 93 spots 183-90, 46%.
  • Lastly, Whitney's My Love Is Your Love re-enters the Billboard 200 at #193 with 4,000 copies sold.
