One Playoff Win, One Huge New Deal For Zach Randolph

Memphis Grizzlies teammates Zach Randolph, left, and Tenny Allen, right, celebrate a 105-82 victory over the Los Angles Clippers during an NBA basketball game in Memphis, Tenn. , Monday, March, 14, 2010.
Gotdamn the Grizzlies' expectations are low, they win the franchise's first ever playoff game and give Zach "Eddie Winslow" Randolph a huge new deal directly afterward. The new contract is 4-years/$71 million! Just when I was about to give the Grizz credit for Marc Gasol finally having a better game and day than Pau, they go and do this. Now, I'm not saying Zach didn't deserve it with his tremendous play all season, but damn, you got to know not to give him a long term deal. Bill Simmons wrote this once, but guys like Zach should only get 1 or 2 year deals at a time so they stay hungry. They might get afford for the rest of this postseason, but next season, look out.

And going back to Marc Gasol for a second, isn't he about to be a free agent too? I don't know the Grizzlies' finances, but can they afford to get him after this deal? Oh well, we have room for him down in Miami!
