Ace Hood - Ride (Remix)/Get 'Em Up

Wow, a lot of star power in this video! Unfortunately, that only means one thing: They are trying to buy him success. By "they" of course I mean Def Jam and DJ Khaled. Nothing wrong with trying to buy success, but the only problem is it usually doesn't work and it definitely hasn't thus far for Ace.

His album was supposed to come out in September so over they summer they bought him Rick Ross, T-Pain, and The Runners for his first single Cash Flow. Didn't work, they had to push the album back to October. They bought him Trey Songz for his second single Ride and made him hit the mixtape circuit to generate buzz. Didn't work again, they had to push his album back to November. Now, the bought him a spot on XXL, got him a remix with T-Pain, Ross, and Juelz Santana, shot a video for it with cameos from people like Busta Rhymes to Lola Luv. Still isn't working and his buzz is not growing.

If anything, its only making it worse for Ace when he doesn't sell records. Seriously, November 18th?? I don't care how much dollars you throw out there he's gonna suffer in a sales week going up against Beyonce and American Idol's David Cook. He's in a lose/lose right now because there is NO WAY he's gonna recoup all this money. This is the red meat of the sales season anyway so trying to break an artist with a debut now is just retarded when in the weeks after Nov. 18th you have Kanye West, 50 Cent, Akon, T-Pain, Britney Spears, Common, Scarface, Brandy, Busta Rhymes, Musiq, Jadakiss, Jim Jones, and Plies all dropping albums. And that's just before Christmas, after that at the top of the year you have Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Eminem, and possibly even Dr. Dre.

They should've dropped this album months ago, back in September like first schedule. At least by now they could put these same dollars behind it and possibly drive his sales some. But right now he's set up to fail.
