Thursday Billboard Update - 10/2/08

Metallica is still holding down the #1, but other than that we basically have a whole new top 10. There a new #2 debut, but I don't know shit about them so moving right along to #4 where the Pussycat Dolls' 2nd album Doll Domination debuts. I don't know if you'd really call 79,000 first week "Doll Domination" but on the other hand their first album never went higher than #5 and still sold over 2.9 million copies. Down 2 spots at #6 is Jazmine Sullivan's debut album Fearless moving 66,000. Not bad for a first album these days. Lastly, debuting at #8 is Joe's first album after leaving Jive, Joe Thomas, New Man!, which pushed 54,000 in its first week.

Nothing interesting happened on the Hot 100 this week. In fact, these 10 songs are the same exact 10 songs that were in last week's top 10, just in a slightly different order.

first week debuts in bold

1. Metallica - Death Magnetic (1-1)
2. Demi Lovato - Don't Forget
3. Ne-Yo - Year Of The Gentleman (2-3)
4. Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night (4)
5. Pussycat Dolls - Doll Domination (5)
6. Jazmine Sullivan - Fearless (6)

8. Joe - Joe Thomas, New Man! (8)
9. Young Jeezy - The Recession (6-9)
10. Jonas Brothers - A Little Bit Longer (11-10)

The Billboard Hot 100 1-10

  • Akon is back on the charts this week with a new track, Right Now (Na Na Na), debuting at #17. I'm assuming this is his new single.
  • Ludacris' new single What Them Girls Like "co-starring" Chris Brown & Sean Garrett jumps 9 spots 49-40. This track is moving kinda slow for a Luda track, might be time to re-group if it isn't in the top 10 in the next few weeks.
  • T.I. has 2 new records that debut this week. The first is Ready For Whatever at #57 and Live Your Life featuring Rihanna at #80.
