Random News Shit: NFL Waive Goodbye Edition

Seattle Seahawks' T.J. Houshmandzadeh sits on the bench late in the fourth quarter of an NFL football game against the Chicago Bears, Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, in Seattle. The Bears beat the Seahawks 25-19.
1) The Seahawks Release T.J. Houshmandzadeh
There's only one word to describe this move: retarded.

What the fuck is going on up in Seattle?? How do you just cut your #1 receiver out of nowhere?? It would've made more sense to cut Matt Hasselbeck than to cut Houshmandzadeh. And has there even been a reason given yet?? From what I've gathered, this was just a random happening with no valid reason given. I mean, I could see if Housh was old, or hurt, or falling off or something like that, but by all accounts, he was still their best wideout. I don't get it.

Besides that fact Housh is their best receiving option, this move is retarded because they're gonna have to pay whatever salary his next team doesn't. For example, as Adam Schefter said, "if Houshmanzadeh were to sign a veteran minimum deal of $850,000, the Seahawks would be liable for the remaining $6.15 million balance." So they're basically gonna be paying him to play for another team. Need I say how retarded this move is again??

Now let's talk about potential landing spots for Housh. The Vikings, Jets, Chargers, and Cardinals all made trade offers yesterday, and this Seattle blog says he's signed with the Vikes, but that report has yet to be confirmed. I'm surprised that the Redskins and Bears have yet to be brought into this discussion, I mean are they that set at WR right now?? If the season started today, the 'Skins would be starting Santana Moss and Joey Galloway. Don't get me wrong, I do NOT want Housh to go to Washington, I'm just saying. I also hope he doesn't sign with the Vikings because, really, fuck them. They don't deserve it (though they very well may send 3 players to his home to guilt him into coming with them). If I was him, I'd go to the Chargers. Not only do they have the best QB situation today and in the future, but he could go in and start immediately.

2) Cardinals Cut Matt Leinart
Unlike Houshmandzadeh, this is a surprise to no one. Leinart is well on his way to the life of a career back-up.

(Side note: When did the the Cards get black jerseys??)

3) Ravens Put Ed Reed On PUP, Release QB Troy Smith
From the 2004 Heisman trophy winner's release to 2006's. This isn't as bad though because Troy wanted out anyway. Besides, this was destined to happen from the day Baltimore signed Marc Bulger to back up Joe Flacco. Maybe the Cards will give Troy a shot??

B-More also released former Cincy kicker Shayne Graham. After his performance in the playoffs last season he doesn't deserve a job.

4) Willie Parker Odd Man Out In Washington
Damn, I was hopefully the 'Skins kept all 3 of their over-the-hill running backs. This is a sad day.

5) Bengals Cut WR Matt Jones
Man, Cincy's once over-crowded WR-corps is down another guy. He probably wasn't gonna get much playing time anyway, so this is no big shocker.

6) Dolphins Cut QB Pat White
Man, what a waste of a 2nd round pick. How bad has Pat White looked that they cut the man after drafting him in 2009. I could see if he was a 2nd round pick in 2007 or something, but damn, that was just last damn year lol. I guess this will be the last Wildcat specific drafting in NFL history.

7) Vikings Release WR Javon Walker
I'm still not clear on exactly why they broke Javon in in the first place. I mean, it's not like he wasn't washed-up 3 years ago. Oh well, looks like he's gonna have to find a new city to spend Al Davis' money in.

8) Titans Waive Rhodes Scholar Myron Rolle
Needless to say that nobody is less concerned with being cut today than Myron Rolle. Dude is gonna be a doctor anyway, he doesn't even need this job.

Welp, that will conclude the FiyahMuZik.com Cut Coverage. You can see all the transactions of the day by clicking here. Waive goodbye, all!
