Welp its now official, the Detroit Lions and Matthew Stafford have agreed to a 6-year, $41.7 million deal ($78 million if he achieves all of his playing incentives) that will make him the #1 pick in tomorrow's draft. To me, 6 years seems like a long ass time for an unproven guy. That leads me to believe the Lions won't immediately force him into that starting role and utilize what's left of Daunte Culpepper. Then again, Matt Ryan also got 6 years last year and he was the starter from day 1.
Now that that's out of the way, I wonder who the Lions are gonna take with the 20th pick that they stole from my Cowboys in that Roy Williams trade?
Oh yeah, and do we really have to go through the wait for the #1 pick still even though its already made?? Shouldn't they just start with the #2 pick?? I guess that would make too much sense.
