Thursday Billboard Update - 3/1/12

With a 22nd non-consecutive week at #1, Adele's 21 is now the longest-running #1 album since Prince's Purple Rain soundtrack spent 24 weeks at the top in 1984-85. Whitney Houston's Whitney: The Greatest Hits remains at #2 with another 174,000 sold. Tyga's Careless World: Rise Of The Last King debuts at #4 with 61,500 sold. Sadly, those numbers probably could've been much higher had some idiot at YMCMB never thought it'd be necessary to clear a Martin Luther King speech they sampled for the intro. Whitney's The Bodyguard soundtrack flies 38-6 while selling 47,000 (up 176%), and her self-titled album Whitney Houston soars 37-9 while selling 30,000 (up 72%). Chiddy Bang's Breakfast debuts at #8 with 30,6000 copies sold.

After being dethroned last week, Kelly Clarkson's Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) returns to #1.
