Thursday Billboard Update - 12/11/08

"Its Britney, bitch!" Cementing her comeback is Britney Spears who's new album Circus debuts #1 with 505,100 copies sold in its first week (looks like I was a tad bit off the mark lol). Did you know that this is her 4th album that has sold more than 500k, and she is the only artist to do that in the SoundScan era?? There are 4 others with 3 though and there names are Jay-Z, 50 Cent, 2Pac, and Garth Brooks. Wow!

Elsewhere on the 200, Beyonce jumps 4-3 with 152,800 sold (-41%) in her 3rd week and Kanye falls 1-4 with 141,700 sold (-69%) in his 2nd week. And debuting at #7 is Akon with Freedom which did 110,600 in its first week. Three causalities this week: GNR, Ludacris, and The Killers.

Noooo!! Its back! Live Your Life is back at #1! Nooooo!! That drops Single Ladies back down 1-2. Okay, I'll try to keep my composure for the rest, but y'all know the mediocrity of that song bothers me lol. Anyway, after that you got Britney's new single and title track, Circus, debuts at #3. Good week for Ms. Spears.
