Thursday Billboard Update - 1/29/09

Man, I can't wait until March when we can expect some major releases to start rolling in...

Can anybody hold the record for Hot 100 biggest jump to #1 for longer than a couple of weeks anymore?? I mean seriously! T.I.'s Whatever You Like (71-1) broke Maroon 5's record with Makes Me Wonder (64-1) on Aug. 28th, then T.I.'s Live Your Life (80-1) broke Whatever You Like's record Oct. 9th, then Britney Spears' Womanizer (96-1) broke Life Your Life's record the next week on Oct. 16th, and now Kelly Clarkson's My Life Would Suck Without You (97-1) broke Womanizer's record this week. Madness! Then again, I guess its fitting that Kelly C. got her crown back because when Makes Me Wonder broke the record in 2007, its was Clarkson's A Moment Like This (52-1) from 2002 that it took it from.

  • Watch out for T.I.'s Dead And Gone possibly in the top 10 next week as it moved another 4 spots 18-14.
  • Don't look now, but Beyonce Diva makes another big push of 9 spots 37-28. Also watch out for Diva in your top 10 in weeks to come.
  • Lady GaGa can't be too mad about losing her #1 spot to Kelly Clarkson because her new single Poker Face jumped 16 spots 48-32 just one week after jumping 24 spots 72-48. Forty spots in 2 weeks ain't bad!
  • After her 18 spot jump last week, Keri Hilson's single Turnin' Me On jumps another 8 spots 43-35. This might finally be her chance.
  • U2 has the highest debut this week with Get On Your Boots coming in at #37. You always have to watch out for U2 when they are on the charts because they'll continue on north.
  • Katy Perry's 2nd single finally lost its place in the top 10, but her 3rd, Thinking Of You, rose 19 spots 79-50 this week.
