Surprise! Shawty Lo Paid For Spins

The other day I heard that he paid for radio plays on his hit Dey Know, and if you know the music industry then you know this is standard practice for new artists...hell probably established artists too lol. Well here's L-O talking about it with MTV.com:



Please realize that this is how most of these out of nowhere hits are made exactly like this. You pay the radio station(s) for spins (pay enough and you'll get into rotation) and once you start showing up on BDS labels start lurking. Once they have you signed up to a 360 deal then they put their radio people on it, shoot a video, and that's how most new artist hits are made. NO ONE plays new records from new artists because they like the record. That shit just doesn't happen lol. Yes, Shawty Lo is wack as fuck (still lol), but I just don't want people thinking he's doing something out of the ordinary here and be mad at him for it.
