NFL Winners & Losers: Week 9

Dallas at Philly
1) Cowboys (5-2) @ Eagles (5-2)
I've been waiting for this game since December 28th, 2008. That's still one of the darkest days of my Cowboys fandom (probably right behind "Cowboys trade 3 drafts picks for Lions WR Roy Williams"), but still, I'm totally hyped!

This is the 100th meeting between these 2 teams, but this one promises to not disappoint. I absolutely LOVE the fact that everyone is picking Philly to win too. My Cowboys play so much better when we are the underdog. I don't know what it is about us, but we're horrible front-runners. That won't be a problem come Sunday.

I'm excited to see the first DeSean Jackson vs. Miles Austin match-up, but the key for us is going to be Brian Westbrook. If the Eagles are really going to drag his concussed ass body onto the field and let him run even 50% of their plays, I like our chances. (*UPDATE* Brian Westbrook probably isn't playing in tonight's game.)

Then again, maybe Westbrook our 2nd key to victory, and our first key is the fact that we've won every night game against the Eagles, in Philadelphia, since 1996. Okay, okay, its only been 4 meetings, but how about this stat: the Eagles are 0-6 when playing on Sunday night on NBC. The Cowboys are 8-2. Cowboys winners, Eagles losers.

2) Ravens (4-3) @ Bengals (5-2)
When these 2 teams played in Week 5, the Bengals were riding an emotional high after the death of coordinator Mike Zimmer's wife. Well that high is over and the Ravens are out for blood after choking away that game. Chad Ocho Cinco didn't help his team any by taunting the Ravens' secondary by sending them gift baskets of deodorant. Its only right they split the season series. Ravens winners, Bengals losers.

3) Dolphins (3-4) @ Patriots (5-2)
I like this Dolphins team to keep things close, but beware of home teams coming off of bye weeks! I hate the Pats, but they haven't lost after a bye since 2002. Nothing else really needs to be said. Patriots winners, Dolphins losers.

4) Steelers (5-2) @ Broncos (6-1)
Did you hear about this stuff with Pittsburgh safety Ryan Clark?? They say he almost died after a game in Denver in 2007 when complications from sickle-cell trait prevented oxygen from flowing into his spleen. They also say if he plays in this Monday nighter, he may actually die this time.

Guess what though?? This nigga said he hasn't decided if he's gonna play or not?? The fuck??? How dumb could one man be?? You're willing to risk your life to play in one stinking game?? Seriously?? You'd risk your wife losing her husband, your kids losing their father, and your parents losing their son for a damn football game?? As Ed Lover would say, C'MON SON!

There's no way they let him play though, right?? If Roger Goodell thought Pacman made the league look bad to advertisers, just imagine what a death would do. Yeah, he definitely isn't playing. Steelers winners, Broncos losers.

5) Texans (5-3) @ Colts (7-0)
All of a sudden the Colts are riddled by injury. In one week they lost 3 defensive starters for the season in Bob Sanders, Merlin Jackson, and Tyjuan Hagler. That's a huge blow to a defense that will welcome the NFL's passing yards leader (Matt Schaub) and receiving yards leader (Andre Johnson) into Lucus Oil Stadium.

Can the Texans get their first victory in Indianapolis and give the Colts their first loss of 2009??

I doubt it. See, while the Colts defense is actually banged up, the Texans defense just plays like they are. They rank 20th or lower in every defensive category and that certainly never bodes well for teams trying to stop Peyton Manning. Colts winners, Texans losers.

6) Panthers (3-4) @ Saints (7-0)
Did you know Carolina has been New Orleans in their last 7 meetings in the Super Dome?? Yeah, look it up, its a fact. Its a damn shame that number won't move to 8 Sunday. Saints winners, Panthers losers.

7) Chargers (4-3) @ Giants (5-3)
Phillip Rivers and Eli Manning are always going to be linked because of what happened in the 2004 draft, but can you believe this is going to be the first time they've squared off ever?? The last time the Chargers and Giants played, Drew Brees was playing his last season in San Diego.

Anyway, this should be a pretty fair fight seeing their both of these defenses are pretty injury depleted. I think this is going to be a big bounce back week for the Giants offense after being embarrassed last weekend against Philly. I hope they lose though, but Giants winners, Chargers losers.

8) Cardinals (4-3) @ Bears (4-3)
What happened to the Cardinals last week?? That was a COMPLETE role reversal from the playoffs last season against the Panthers. I hate the Cardinals, I really do. Fuck them, I'll take the Bears at home to keep pace in the NFC North. Bears winners, Cards losers.

9) Redskins (2-5) @ Falcons (4-3)
What has a better chance of happening: Chris Brown hitting another woman or the Redskins winning this game?? I say Chris Brown hitting another girl and we all know that will NEVER happen again. You couldn't get Chris to hit a bump in the road at this point, let alone a girl, and the Redskins still stand even less of a chance of winning. Falcons winners, Redskins losers.

10) Titans (1-6) @ 49ers (3-4)
How long ago was that 3-0 start for the 49ers?? Man, talk about losing momentum. I mean, shit! I like them to finally bounce back though because Chris Johnson isn't going to rush for 200+ yards this week. It would be sweet for all those who own him in fantasy football, but it ain't gonna happen. Vince Young isn't gonna complete over 80% of his passes again and the 49ers should be able to pull this off. Niners winners, Titans losers.

11) Packers (4-3) @ Buccaneers (0-7)
Could this be a trap game for the Packers?? Aaron Rodgers is understandably banged up seeing his offensive line give him less protection than a fishnet condom. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but I could see an upset for some reason. Packers winners, Bucs losers.

12) Chiefs (1-6) @ Jaguars (3-4)
I hate the Jaguars! Is there an any less consistent team in the league?? If the Chiefs weren't the Chiefs, I'd take them this game, but I can't do that in good conscious. Jones-Drew might have to win this one alone, but it should still happen. Jags winners, Chiefs losers.

13) Lions (1-6) @ Seahawks (2-5)
Why have I been picking the Lions to win this year?? I think we all got gassed off them beating the Redskins, but that was before we knew they were terrible.

The Seahawks definitely aren't terrible, they're just not as good as the Cowboys. I could see a 20-30 point blow out easily. Seahawks winners, Lions losers.

Last Week: 9-4 (.692)
Overall Record: 84-45 (.651)
This Week:
8-5 (.615)
