Thursday Billboard Update - 11/19/09

Bon Jovi
Another terrible week for Hip-Hop on the Billboard 200 so fuck it again, and on to the next one.

At this advanced stage in Jay-Z's career it'd seem like there wouldn't be much he hasn't accomplished. Well there was this one thing, but he can now cross that off his list as of today. Jay's Empire State Of Mind with Alicia Keys hits #1 and becomes the first #1 of his career as the lead artist. That's right, Jay-Z never had his own #1 record until now, all 3 of his previous #1's were as features (Mariah Carey's Heartbreaker, Beyonce's Crazy In Love, and Rihanna's Umbrella). Isn't that remarkable?? All those hits like Can I Get A, Hard Knock Life, Big Pimpin, Izzo, '03 Bonnie & Clyde, Dirt Off Your Shoulders, etc., etc. Eight to 10's, only one #1.
