If you asked me who'd be the first San Francisco Giants pitcher to throw a no-hitter this year I would've bet my life it'd be MLB strikeout leader and rotation ace Tim Lincecum. Nobody is touching that kid's stuff right now. Hell, I would've said Randy Johnson or Barry Zito even but never ever 3-8 pitcher Jonathan Sanchez. I do you one better, I never even heard of Jonathan Sanchez before I put it on SportsCenter last night.
Anyway, Sanchez struck out 11 in his nearly perfect game (the Giants did allow one error) and becomes the first Giants' pitcher to throw a no-hitter since 1976, and first Giants' lefty since 1929. Oh, and did I mention his dad just happened to be in the stands last night?? This is such a great story, but if I'm the Giants I'm giving this guy season ticket tod...yesterday!
Its only a matter of time before Lincecum throws one, but I just hope this doesn't make him start forcing it.
