Thursday Billboard Update - 5/14/09

I'm still shocked about this, but as I reported yesterday, Chrisette Michele's Epiphany debuted at #1 with 83,800 sold, totally upsetting Ciara's Fantasy Ride which comes in at #3 with 81,200 sold. This has also got to be the first time all 3 of the top albums finished within 4,000 records of each other.

Nothing interesting happening in the top 10 on the Hot 100. Beyonce's Halo jumps 3 spots to #5, Flo Rida's Right Round falls 3 spots to #9, and T.I.'s Dead And Gone has finally finished running its course in the top 10. Look out for Jeremih's Birthday Sex next week.

The Billboard 200 1-10
first week debuts in bold

1. Chrisette Michele - Epiphany (1)
2. Miley Cyrus - Hannah Montana: The Movie sdtk (2-2)
3. Ciara - Fantasy Ride (3)
4. Rascal Flatts - Unstoppable (5-4)
5. Bob Dylan - Together Through Life (1-5)
6. Lady GaGa - The Fame (7-6)
7. Taylor Swift - Fearless (9-7)
8. Rick Ross - Deeper Than Rap (4-8)
9. Ben Harper & The Relentless 7 - White Lies For Dark Times (9)
10. Various Artists - Twilight sdtk (6-10)
  • Didn't even realize Juelz's Skull Gang released a real album last week, I thought it was a mixtape. Well I wasn't alone because it debuted at #142 with just 4,200 sold.
  • DJ Paul's Scale-A-Ton (so corny lol) didn't fare any better coming in at #157 with 4,000 sold.
The Billboard Hot 100 1-10
first time top 10's in bold

1. Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow (1-1)
2. Lady GaGa - Poker Face (3-2)
3. Jamie Foxx - Blame It (2-3)
4. KiD CuDi - Day N Nite (4-4)
5. Beyonce - Halo (8-5)
6. Flo Rida - Sugar (5-6)
7. Soulja Boy - Kiss Me Thru The Phone (7-7)
8. 3OH!3 - Don't Trust Me (9-8)
9. Flo Rida - Right Round (6-9)
10. Miley Cyrus - The Climb (11-10)
  • Jeremih's Birthday Sex continues its steady rise to Billboard dominance by jumping 10 more spots 23-13. I'd be shocked if he wasn't top 10 next week, especially with Right Round slipping.
  • Debuting at #25 this week is Eminem and Dr. Dre's Old Time's Sake. Its a good thing too because after debuting at #32 last week, Em's 3 A.M. is nowhere to be found.
  • Sean Kingston finally makes his return to the charts with Fire Burning at #29. I still have yet to meet anyone who's met him and not thought he was lame but more power to him I guess.
  • After finally cracking the top 50 last week, Pleasure P's Boyfriend #2 jumps 7 spots 49-42 this week.
  • At the back in of Hot, Drake makes his first debut as So Far Gone's most popular track Best I Ever Had opens up at #92.
  • Drake also makes a guest appearance in another debut as Young Money's Every Girl debuts at #96.
