Thursday Billboard Update - 5/21/09

Green Day's new album 21st Century Breakdown takes over the #1 spot from Chrisette Michele by selling 215,000 in their extended opening week. Coming in at #3 is Cam'ron and his return to the industry Crime Pays with 43,100.

Over on the Hot 100, numbers 1-3 stay the same but we get major change starting at #4. Mr. 305, Pitbull makes his first appearance in the top 10 as his single I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho) jumps 11-4. Also entering the top 10 for the first time (as I said it would) is Jeremih's Birthday Sex which moves up 13-9. It also breaks Jamie Foxx's Blame It's 13 week streak at #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. I got a rant for this song coming later today, so stay tuned.

  • Katy Perry is looking at another potential top 10 hit as her latest single Waking Up In Vegas shoots up the charts 51-13 this week.
  • After having Old Time's Sake debut #25 last week and 3 A.M. debut at #32 the week before that, it only seemed right that another Eminem record would debut in the top 50 this week. Beautiful is that record this time around and it comes in at #17. Unlike the other 2, I could actually see this one moving into the top 10.
  • Sean Kingston's Fire Burning jumps 11 spots 29-18.
  • Lady GaGa's Love Games sees a huge jump this week moving 61-27.
  • Green Day's Know Your Enemy jumps 13 spaces 41-28 after their performance on SNL last Saturday. I'm shocked it hasn't moved up more because I hear that song ALL the time and I don't even listen to rock like that.
  • Jordin Sparks makes her return to the charts this week as her new single Battlefield debuts at #32.
  • A week after being performed by last night's American Idol winner Kris Allen, Kanye West's Heartless sees a 10 spots bump 45-35.
