Thursday Billboard Update - 5/28/09

I know you're all shocked, but Eminem's Relapse is this weeks #1 album! Em's first album in 5 years moves a whopping 608,244 copies in its first week in stores. That is easily the highest selling album thus far in 2009. Elsewhere in the top 10, Method Man & Redman's long awaited sophomore album Blackout! 2 comes in at #4 with a nice 63,165 sold. Down at #6 is Busta Rhymes's follow up to 2006's Big Bang, Back On My B.S. which shifts 59,079.

Three in, three out in the top 10 this week. The three ousted were 3OH!3's Don't Trust Me (7-14), Flo Rida's Sugar (8-17), and Soulja Boy's Kiss Me Thru The Phone (10-23). Those three are replaced by Glee Cast's Don't Stop Believin' (4), Linkin Park's New Divine (6), and Katy Perry's Waking Up In Vegas (13-10). Also, now that American Idol is over, the winner Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert debuted a bunch of tracks as did David Cook and David Archuleta this time last year. Nine tracks in total, 5 for Allen, 4 for Lambert.

• DJ Drama's 2nd LP Gangsta Grillz: The Album Vol. 2 starts off at #26 with 17,824 sold.
• Ruben Studdard's Love Is debuts at #36 with a nice 15,246 sold.
• It was true, the new Freeway album Philadelphia Freeway 2 did drop last week! The unprompted project landed at #98 with 5,300 sold. So fucked up.
• Another album that saw no promo was Sheek Louch's Life On D-Block which comes in at #121 with 4,300 sold.

• American Idol winner Kris Allen debuted 5 records this week and they are as follows: No Boundaries (#11), Heartless (#16), Ain't No Sunshine (#37), Apologize (#66), and Falling Slowly (#94).
• Last year's winner David Cook sees his new track Permanent debut at #24.
• The group with the #1 record in the country right now debuts another with Imma Be at #50.
