NFL Winners & Losers: Wild Card Weekend

The playoffs are here, and so is the NFL's new overtime rules. I hope we get to see it in action this weekend. I'm psyched!

Saturday Games

Seahawks vs. Saints
Saints (11-5) @ Seahawks (7-9)
I'm still trying to figure out why the Seahawks were so excited about making the playoffs. They do know they're gonna lose, right?? Before they made history by becoming the first losing to team make the playoffs with a win last Sunday, they hadn't won a game since December 5th when they played the worst team in the league.

If anything, the Saints should've been the ones celebrating. They also should've been considering if they should rest their starters for this game, and deciding when would be the best time to pull Drew Brees. Of course New Orleans will be without running backs Chris Ivory and Pierre Thomas in the playoffs, so maybe they should spend this game trying out new options at RB because we all know Julius Jones is not the answer.

Okay, let's stop fooling around and cut to the chase. Saints winners (by a lot), Seahawks losers.

Rex vs. Peyton
Jets (11-5) @ Colts (10-6)
I love Rex Ryan, but the guy is always putting his foot in his mouth (among other feet). Why is he trash talking Tom Brady?? If (and that's a HUGE if) you put the Colts, he does know he has to play the Pats, right?? I've said this before, but when as that ever worked out for anybody?? If you want to praise Peyton Manning, praise Peyton Manning, but don't shit on Brady in the process.

Oh well, at the end of the day it won't really matter because in games Curtis Painter doesn't play in, Peyton Manning is undefeated against Rex Ryan defenses. Oh, and then there's the whole "Manning in night games" thing, but that's just over doing the Jets' certain doom. Colts winners, Jets losers.

Sunday Games

Reed vs. Cassel
Ravens (11-5) @ Chiefs (10-6)
There's nothing much that needs to be said about this game, the Chiefs said enough with their Week 17 performance. Ravens winners, Chiefs losers.

Rodgers vs. Vick
Packers (10-6) @ Eagles (10-6)
This is easily the hardest game to pick of Wild Card weekend. Mike Vick says he's 100% now, but I don't believe him. Those last few weeks he took an unholy beating from the likes of Dallas, New York, and Minnesota, and I'm just not convinced he's healed after one week off. And even if he was 100%, Philly's offensive line is atrocious, and he's in for another beat down.

As far as the Packers go, I'm not sold on them either because their run game is shit. Last week when they had to win to get into the playoffs, Aaron Rodgers lead them in rushing with 21 yards. That's not gonna cut it, especially in these cold weather playoff games.

Hmm, this is tough. I guess I have to give the edge to Mike Vick and the Eagles. I think whoever does win this game is going to the NFC Championship game, and possibly to the Super Bowl. Eagles winners, Packers losers.

This Week: 1-3 (.250)
Playoff Record: 1-3 (.250)
Overall Record: 155-105 (.596)
Last Week: 10-6 (.625)
Regular Season Record: 154-102 (.602)
