1) The Way (Prod. By StreetRunner)
The album starts off with 4 minutes of straight spittin'. No hook, no bullshit, just a small intro, beat, and straight lyrics. The beat itself was pretty decent too, but Fab killed it either way. Solid start for Loso.
2) My Time (feat. Jeremih) (Prod. By The Runners)
This track is definitely a "tweener." It doesn't suck, but its not overly good or amazing either. Its just in between. Its a tweener (get familiar with that word because you'll hear it a lot in this review). Slightly above average, good enough to make the album, but nothing anybody wouldn't mind not hearing if it wasn't. Also not memorable. Definitely a tweener.
3) Imma Do It (feat. Kobe) (Prod. By DJ Khalil)
Imma Do It is like a better version of My Time. Better beat, better lyrics, better hook. I love the cadence of Kobe's hook. It doesn't stand out on first listen, but its actually low-key catchy. Fab stay consistent with the lyrics and delivers them like he's really feeling himself. The outro on the track is hope too. Good record.
4) Feel Like I'm Back (Prod. By J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League)
Maybe its just the similarities in the beats, but this track kinda feels like the same song as the last 2. Fab spits different on all 3, but it still feels like I'm listening to the same song... just not as good.
5) Everything, Everyday, Everywhere (feat. Keri Hilson) (Prod. By Ryan Leslie)
Another solid record. Nothing exceptional, but I do like this song. Keri doesn't make the whole song alone, but she was a huge part of making it hot. Good club material.
6) Throw It In The Bag (feat. The-Dream) (Prod. By Tricky Stewart)
I never really liked this song, I just tolerated it because Claudia Jordan's fine ass was in the video. The poor beat is the beginning of the song's downfall. Dream's hook was annoyingly catchy, you can take that for what it is. I like the concept though. However, I hate how Fab tries to turn it into a dance by saying "Everybody do the Throw It In The Bag" at the end. Not feeling that at all.
7) Money Goes, Honey Stays (feat. Jay-Z) (Prod. By Sami Wilf & JD)
This one is difficult for me because I always think of the Jay-Z version when it comes on so there's a bit of unfair disappointment when Fab's comes on. I'll hand it to him though, he did his thing and really made this record his own. If he was gonna take it over, I would've liked to hear him completely take it over and do the hook too, but I understand why he'd wanna keep the name on his tracklisting. Great vibe on this record no matter who spits on it.
8) Salute (feat. Lil Wayne) (Prod. By Miguel Jiminez)
Back to the tweeners. Nothing memorable or standout-ish about Salute. And no, I'm not just saying that because Lil Wayne is on it. I thought he did a good job, but this song is just okay. It sounds like one of those songs that sounds crazy hot in the studio when you're recording it but just okay a few days later in the car. You'll know what I'm talking about if you've ever been in the studio while someone was recording.
9) There He Go (feat. Paul Cain, Red Cafe, Freck Billionaire) (Prod. By Blackout Movement)
Here's another one like Salute in the sense that I know it sounded crazy when they were recording it, but that hotness doesn't carry over. I don't know what it is, but its a phenomenon that needs to be researched.
Anyway, everybody does decent, except Paul Cain who really brought nothing to the table with his verse. Even Freck did better than that and he's terrible. Jim Jones probably should've gotten a phone call because he would've fit in perfectly.
10) The Fabolous Life (feat. Ryan Leslie) (Prod. By Ryan Leslie)
I wanna say this is a tweener, but its kinda not. Yet, it kinda is. Its like a good album filler. I like it, but I feel like it still should've been better. Its just missing something. Not sure what, it just is.
11) Makin' Love (feat. Ne-Yo) (Prod. By No I.D. & JD)
Makin' Love is a tweener disguised as a hit record. The hoes would love it if it was a single, but this song is average at best. Though Ne-Yo makes the song, I still feel like he probably could've done this in his sleep. Fab doesn't really bring it either. Just okay.
Best part of the song: "And I will not stop, do it to ya like a dude who ain't got no job. I ain't got no place to be so I don't gotta leave. Get the itis in the sheets, I'ma eat and go to sleep." That shit is HILARIOUS!
12) Last Time (feat. Trey Songz) (Prod. By LRoc & JD)
Again, hoes would love this song, but its really nothing special. Trey makes the song a lot like the way Ne-Yo made Makin' Love. In actuality, this probably should've been given to Bow Wow, its like right up his alley. And I'm really not feeling Fab continuing to rap in this low voice. It wasn't hot on the last record, and it isn't now. I mean, it isn't terrible, but its not hot. Its whatever I guess, its for the hoes.
13) Pachanga (Prod. By Sid V)
First off, Sid V goes IN on this instrumental! Its love. Loso absolutely smashes this shit too. I don't know what the hell the word "Pachanga" came from, but the lyrics and so nice. Records like this give me hope for the Fab's future. Pachanga is the best track on the album so far.
14) Lullaby (Prod. By The Alchemist)
Another nice one. I have no complaints about Lullaby besides there not being more records of its ilk on the album. Sick beat, sick lyrics equal another win for Fab.
15) Stay (feat. Marsha Ambrosius) (Prod. By Syience)
I know these songs were made to be towards the end of the album, I would've liked them up front so we could've set a better tone after the intro. It starts out with too many average songs and these past few have been exceptional. Its a shame its closing out because its really just turning on.
Anyway, I'm gonna have to likening Stay to Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel's Where Have You Been. Of course what Beans put down on that track can't be compared to, but both Marsha and Fab beat this track the fuck up and are headed in that direction.
(Side note: How ill was Where Have You Been?? I don't know when the last time you heard it, but that may be Beans' illest verse ever.)
16) I Miss My Love (Prod. By Sean C. & L.V.)
Can we get a heat check on Fabolous right now?? Who knew he had storytelling skills on this level?? This track is on some B.I.G./Nas shit! I love it! Great way to end the album on a high note.
Overall
The 4th quarter of the album (Pachanga, Lullaby, Stay, and I Miss My Love) heavily out weigh the first 3. All the tweeners hurt Loso's Way, but those last 4 tracks right the ship and bring up what would've been a 3/5 or 3.25/5 rating.
Now, had Fab left tracks like A Toast To The Good Life and Welcome To My Workplace on the album he would've easily reach 4/5, but since he didn't I'm gonna go with...
3.75/5
