Thursday Billboard Update - 8/20/09

George Strait
Michael Jackson's Number Ones (80,000) was finally re-unseated this week by George Strait's Twang which enters at #1 with 155,000 sold. I think Mike has at least one more good showing with his birthday and burial coming up on the 29th.

Last week I said Jay-Z was out to prove people wrong (including myself) about the strength of Run This Town and this week he does just that by soaring 63 spots to land at #3 in this just its 3rd week on the charts. This couldn't have come at a better time as the video for Run This Town leaked late last night and it will officially premiere on MTV tonight at 8pm. "What's up?" Just above Hov is Miley Cyrus' Party In The U.S.A. debuting at #2. Fire Burning and Boom Boom Pow are the 2 records that had to die to make this all possible.
