Some of you guys who actually know me know that I'm a HUGE Joe Budden fan, so when I heard he was finally off Def Jam I was so happy for him. I dunno if he was dropped or he asked to be released, but Def Jam has wasted a good 4 years of this man's career for no apparent reason and if it wasn't for his Mood Muzik mixtapes, he'd totally be forgotten by now. If you've been living under a rock, you've never heard either of the Mood Muzik mixtapes, but if that's so you need to find them because BOTH are classics! Now, I'm not gonna blame Jay-Z like most because at the end of the day L.A. Reid is still the CEO, not Hov.
I just don't see why they jerked Joey around for so long, it just makes no sense to me. He had a hit single, his album went gold, and he was obviously the next Hov back in '03. At one point I remember he was even about to sign to Roc-A-Fella before Jay sold it to and became the President of Island/Def Jam Records. I also remember his sophomore album The Growth's original release date of June 21, 2005, but I just don't know what happened.
I'm not worried for Joe though his talent speaks for itself, and I think he can find another major label deal to finally put out The Growth which has obviously been done for at least 2 years now lol.
If you don't know how the boy Joey gets down check this out:
