Thursday Billboard Update - 2/21/13

The sales impact of the Grammys finally shows up and the Billboard 200's top 10 reflects that with several old albums returning (2013 Grammy Nomineees, Taylor Swift, fun., and Maroon 5), a couple rising (Lumineers and Bruno Mars), and one making its way back to #1 (Mumford & Sons).

Some bullshit is popping over on the Hot 100 as Billboard and Nielsen has retardedly (new word alert!) decided to revamp its system to incorporate YouTube streaming, which allowed Baauer's much parodied Harlem Shake to debut at #1. This is stupid on many levels, but none more than the fact that only a small fraction of those streams came from people listening to the song past the first 30 seconds. PSY must be pissed (though it should be noted that Gangnam Style is up 22 spots 48-26 because of this).

In other, more logical, Hot 100 news, Rihanna grabs her 24th top 10 song (and passes Whitney Houston and the Rolling Stones who both have 23) as Stay soars 54 spots 57-3 in its 2nd week. (I'm sure the 29.5 million YouTube views had a lot to do with it.) And lastly, Drake's Started From The Bottom skies 53 spots 63-10 also in its 2nd week.

Thursday Billboard Update - 8/18/11

No big surprise here as Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch The Throne sales 436,079 and coasts to #1. About 321,000 of those were downloads since the physical album didn't hit stores until Friday August 12th and Soundscan stops collecting sales week data on Saturdays, so I don't expect a huge week 2 drop off for the Roc Boys. Checking in at #8 is Ace Hood's third album Blood, Sweat & Tears with 26,300 copies sold. And while that may sound bleak on the surface, this is the highest he's ever debuted and the most he's ever sold in one week.

Big news over on the Hot 100 as Katy Perry's Last Friday Night finally makes it to #1, dethroning LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem after 6 weeks on top. And just like that, it's all over. Doesn't it seem like having to have lived in Haiti for 5 years is something Clef should've known before announcing his candidacy?? I mean, we we're taught the requirements to run for the U.S. presidency in like 3rd grade, so you'd think Wyclef or his reps would've researched the requirements to be president of Haiti at some point before saying he's running.

2) DJ Khaled Signs With Cash Money
My first thought upon hearing this news: poor Ace Hood. I mean, it's not like his career was really taking off or anything, but now it really won't now that he's left stranded on Def Jam. Who's gonna convince L.A. Reid Ace should have another opportunity to drop a new album that won't sell now?? Y'all probably think I'm joking but I'm serious, I really feel bad for the guy.

At the end of the day, this is good news for DJ Khaled haters. We all know Cash Money isn't in the business of dropping non-Lil Wayne or Birdman albums, so We The Best Forever may never happen. Or just never get released.

3) Delonte West Suspended 10 Games By The NBA
Times are hard for ya boy Delonte. First he got arrested on gun charges, then he destroyed the Cleveland Cavaliers and made LeBron take his talents to South Beach, then he got traded to the T'Wolves, then waived a few days later, and now he gets a 10 game suspension by the NBA. 4) Twista Announces Release Date For Perfect Storm
The date is October 26th. My level of caring is 0.

I still got love for Twista, but if his most hardcore fan would have to admit he's fallen off. I thought Slow Jams and Overnight Celebrity were good for him, but in actuality its completely derailed his career into a pool of wannabe pop records. The Day After was still pretty good, but Adrenaline Rush 2007 was a disgrace, and Category F5 was just aight. Bring the real Twista back and then maybe I'll get interested.

5) Around The Horn's Jay Mariotti Arrested For Domestic Violence
Jay was arrested in L.A. for domestic violence last night at 4:30am which begs the question: what is it about L.A. that makes people wanna beat bitches up?? First Chris Brown, and now Jay Mariotti. Sad, sad.

Welp, whether Jay beat up his wife, or some hooker he met, it's still not worse than former ESPN Football Today podcast host Jeremy Green. I never wrote about it, but JG was arrested for possession of child pornography and narcotics back in July.

Anyway, what are the chances that T-Pain recorded this shit right after D.O.A. came out and caught feelings on purpose?? I'm not saying that's what happened, but you can't rule it out. Nice way to own a beat though Pain, I almost forget this was Successful and not some of his own shit lol.

So Shawnna is on Nappy Boy now?? Does that mean her and Ludacris aren't going to finish Battle Of The Sexes??

Speaking of Luda, how sure are we that he didn't write this song?? I say either he wrote ghostwrote it or both Pain and Shawnna were jammin' Word Of Mouf before the recorded this because its vintage Ludacris.

Raekwon - Can't Hide It

I still gotta stop fucking around make time to listen to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II! This ain't on there, but its still pretty decent. I don't know if I like the beat that much because it kinda make Rae sound like he's spitting off beat when he's not. That break down 2 minutes in was dope though.

Saigon - Shout Outs

There's another Saigon track called Martian Alien Flow that was so wack I almost didn't listen to this track. I'm glad I decided to fuck with this Shout Outs though, its nice.

Styles P - Pablo Doe (feat. N.O.R.E. & Uncle Murda)

Why does it feel like I heard this track before?? Not so much SP and Uncle Murda, but the N.O.R.E. verse and the beat sound familiar as hell. Oh well.

This is off SP and Green Lantern's Green Ghost which should be dropping soon.

Styles P - Invasion (feat. Jadakiss & Junior Reid)

I could've gone without that hook, but the SP and Jada verses were hot. This should also be on Green Ghost.

Young Buck - Lord Have Mercy (feat. Outlawz)

Damn this song smooth ass shit right here! Buck got me about to light up some weed and drive to nowhere with this shit on repeat! Extremely sick.

Ace Hood - Final Interview

I could've done without that intro, but the actual song is hot. Ace rips it and reps Broward big time so I gotta co-sign this, no question.

This shit right here is ridin'! The beat is hot, the back and forth is hot, and its just an overall hot ass song. Matter of fact, I think I wanna hear more from this Brisco/Ace Hood team. Maybe they should work on some more shit, possibly a mixtape?? I'd love to see it personally.
