Mystikal Monday Ep. 7

I pray that song Gudda and that other random nigga were rapping to isn't a feature on Mystikal's album. Gudda can't even get a feature on Lil Wayne's album, so we don't need one on Mystikal's.

Chiefs Of Staff With Mystikal Ep. 2 & 3

Not sure why episode 2 never showed up in my sub box on YouTube, but I'm assuming it didn't show up with many, judging by the 0 comments it has. Episode 3 just came out today and it has 8. Not much still, but you get my point.

Gotdamn I need that track playing in the back like yesterday!

Mystikal - One Night (feat. Jae Millz, Birdman & Detail)

Here's some new Mystikal that I've heard is either on DJ Stevie J’s The Appreciation Vol. 4 or an upcoming Mystikal mixtape called Origins. Hell, maybe even both. Either way, you're gonna wanna check this one out.

Gotdamn Mystikal wrecked that first verse! It's truly unfortunate he had to get Cash Money's D team for features instead of the A team (mainly Drake) like it deserved. Oh well, at least Birdman didn't do a verse.

Mystikal - Bullshit (Prod. by KLC)

Sadly, Mystikal had to turn himself in this morning to do 3 more months in the slammer, but he left us with a gem called Bullshit.

Unfortunately, KLC didn't live up to his end of the bargain with this extra average ass beat, but Mystikal saved the track with some vintage Mystikal lyricism and delivery. Feel free to download the track below.

Mystikal - Original (feat. Birdman & Lil Wayne) Video

You know how weird it is the first few times you see a person who had dreads/braids/afro after they cut their hair? I don't have that feeling about Mystikal at all. Maybe it's because he hung onto those struggle braids so long that you could tell what he'd eventually look like bald if he just looked straight forward? Well whatever the case, I'm glad he's home and making great music, even if his new song and video were interrupted by the weirdness that is Lil Wayne and Birdman.

On another note, yesterday on 106 & Park, Mystikal announced that his new album will also be called Original. How original.

Mystikal - Original (feat. Birdman & Lil Wayne)

As if it wasn't taking him long enough to drop his first post-prison album, Mystikal has officially signed with Cash Money Records. Mystikal on Cash Money, how wild does that sounds? If you would've told 13 year-old me Mystikal would end up on Cash Money one day, I would've said you were a fucking crazy. Then again, if you told 13 year-old me Mystikal would leave No Limit, rise to the top of the game, and then go on to spend the majority of the 2000s in prison, I would've killed myself. (Yeah, 13 year-old me was the biggest Mystikal fan in the world.)

Anyway, fuck all that, let's get into this new record!

I can't lie, this shit is pretty tough. Dope beat, dope lyrics, and they only let Birdman be on the chorus. That's a win if you ask me. The only thing that would've made this better is if Mannie Fresh produced it.

Juvenile & Mystikal Working On A Mixtape?

That's what Juvenile told XXL. Check it out.

I would have rather had this back in 1999 or 2000, but I'll take it in 2012 too. Hopefully this doesn't slow down the process of getting that Mystikal come back album, I need that.

Mystikal Still Got It

Here's a video of Mystikal in the studio with Mannie Fresh, Juvenile, Skip, and a few others showing he totally still has it lyrically. Enjoy!

Mysikal is the anti-Shyne, prison didn't slow this nigga down one bit lyrically. I won't say he's better than he was before, but he definitely hasn't lost a step, unlike Shyne who has lost his feet.

Aight, enough playing around, get in that booth and let's get a new Mystikal album!

Mystikal - Uh Oh (feat. Jazelle)

Mystikal
Da man right chea! I heard this shit Saturday, who knows why I just thought to post it today. I guess that's what happens when you're doing shit you're not supposed to at work. Okay, let's do this:

I knew greatness would come of this meeting with Mannie Fresh. This is one of those joints where it's safe to say it's just you if you don't like it. The track is fiyah, the lyrics are fiyah, the hook is fiyah, the whole record is just FIYAH!

Now, I'm not saying this is going to be a huge hit or anything, but if it became one, I certainly wouldn't be surprised. Well we'll see what's up when the full version is released. Oh, and I'm putting it out there now that I wanna hear Twista on the remix.

Mystikal - Papercuts (feat. Lil Wayne & Fiend)

NEW YORK - JUNE 03: Rapper Mystikal performs onstage at the 2010 Vh1 Hip Hop Honors at Hammerstein Ballroom on June 3, 2010 in New York City.
New Mystikal track BUT there's a reason I was in no rush to post it. You'll see shortly.

Uhhh, not exactly what I expected when I got hyped Mystikal was released back in January, but I guess I'll take it. Mystikal absolutely murdered his verse, but the rest of the song should've been left on the chopping board. First off, the beat was annoyingly bad. Possibly the worst beat Mystikal has ever rapped over in his entire career. I guess it's clear he didn't get many of those Mannie Fresh beats, but damn, their had to be better alternatives than this shit. Next, the hook was weak as shit, and Fiend and Wayne (who knows where that verse came from) didn't really bring anything special to the table.

I'm gonna be patient with Mystikal though, he's been gone a long time and he's gonna have to adjust to music in 2010 (though this song wouldn't have been hot in any era). At least he can still rap (unlike Shyne), so you know it's gonna get better as the production he gets improves.

Mannie Fresh Playing New Beats For Mystikal!

WOOOOOOOO!!!!

As I've said many times on this very website, Mystikal was my favorite rapper long before Jay-Z was, so watching this got me SUPER hype! Just hearing that flow brings back great, great memories of me really starting to get into music. I mean, it was one thing for me to be into Kris Kross heavy (which I was as a kid) and me wanting to hear as much Hip-Hop as I could after hearing Mystikal's verse on Make 'Em Say Ugh when I was in 6th grade.

Clearly I'm happy he's home and I can't wait for him to start dropping some shit. Fingers crossed for Mannie solely lending beats and not hooks.

The Winners & Losers Of Hip Hop Honors The Dirty South

Mystikal at Hip-Hop Honors
Tonight was VH1's Hip Hop Honors where they honored the Dirty South...kinda. Lets do this!

Winners: Miami booty bass; Luke; Kid Rock; DJ Laz; Power 96; Pitbull; Trick Daddy Dollaz; Eddie Griffin; J. Prince; Willie D; The Game; Do Or Die; Drake; UGK; Bun B; Jonah Hill; Jermaine Dupri; Lil Jon; Bow Wow; Master P; Taraji P. Henson's ass; Silkk The Shocker still being alive; Mystikal; Mystikal's hat; T.I.; Gucci Mane; Bone Crusher's gut; Ying Yang Twins; Craig Robinson; Timbaland; congestion; Missy Elliott; Kelly Rowland's body; Chamillionaire; Donald Glover; Being so horny; Fresh Kid Ice of 2 Live Crews' arm; Asher Roth.

Losers: Craig Robinson's stamina (nigga had done tired himself out before he went into his first joke lol); Luke's teeth; Luke's dancer (them hoes was tired halfway through the first song); Drake's stage performance; Kriss Kross; Da Brat; whoever allowed JD to allow Dem Franchize Boyz to perform; Bow Wow (he didn't even get to do any of his own songs); Diddy's grill; Diddy's lip synching; Romeo reading the teleprompter; Mia X; Fiend; Silkk The Shocker lip synching; Gucci Mane (they let him perform Wasted?? Really??); Trina; Brandy's outfit; Keri Hilson's vocals; Magoo; David Banner's facial hair; Slim Thug; Paul Wall's flow; Mike Jones; Lil Flip; 2 Live Crew (more like 2 Old Crew now); Sleepy Brown; nail polish; Asher Roth's outfit; Miami; DJ Khaled; Trina again; Flo Rida; Rick Ross; minks; Pitbull; VH1 (how you gonna end HIP-HOP Honors with Reggaeton?); Memphis.

Okay, now, I totally understand some people might have declined, but if that was the case, then they should have just shortened the show. The first hour was all-time great, but the second hour bordered on all-time bad, especially the last segment where Miami was honored for the third time! Let me get this straight, Miami gets 3 segment, Atlanta gets 3 segments, but Memphis doesn't even get mentioned?? What the fuck?? That last segment was a travesty, I mean, why were we honoring that shit anyway?? Because of this, I'm gonna continue this post tomorrow with a brand new "Top 10 Unanswered Questions From Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South" podcast! See you then!
