Random News Shit: Unexpected Sports Edition

Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher answers questions at a news conference on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, in Nashville, Tenn. Titans quarterback Vince Young left the stadium after exchanging words with Fisher after a 19-16 overtime loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday in which Young tore a flexor tendon in his right thumb on his throwing hand. Fisher said Young will be placed on injured reserve and needs surgery on his hand.
1) Titans & Jeff Fisher Part Ways
Talk about shocking news, I thought Fisher was staying for sure after the Titans said they were going to trade or release Vince Young, but obviously that's no longer the case.

My guess is that after all that time with one organization, Fisher will take a couple years off before jumping back into the coaching game. Even though he never won a Super Bowl, I'm sure plenty of teams would love to have him.

Speaking of Jeff Fisher, you know who must be pissed right now? Chuck Cecil. Fisher fired Cecil as defensive coordinator a week ago. I know Chuck is somewhere talking so reckless about Fisher right damn now.

2) O.J. Mayo Suspended For 10 Games
Normally this would be a bad thing, but seeing how it may help him escape Memphis, this could actually work to his advantage. Fingers crossed he doesn't land in Chicago, or New York.

Speaking of Chicago...

3) Derrick Rose Has Stomach Ulcers
So eating candy everyday is not good for you? Who knew?

4) Dallas Experiences Stripper Shortage For Super Bowl
Well when Ben Roethlisberger is coming to town, you better stock up on your naked white women. Hopefully the champagne room doesn't have lockable doors.

Seriously though, they need 10,000 strippers?? I know everything is bigger in Texas, but how big are these strip clubs?? (Rimshot!)

5) Miles Austin & Champ Bailey Are Going To Hawaii
DeSean Jackson and Nnamdi Asomugha aren't going to be able to play in this weekend's Pro Bowl, so they had to be replaced. In all honesty, Miles probably should've been there instead of DeSean regardless. DeSean only caught 47 passes (47!!!!) on the season, and while he was catching passing from Michael Vick, Miles caught most of his from Jon Kitna and Stephen McGee. Oh well, Miles made it and that's all that matters.

Titans Plan To Trade Or Release Vince Young

Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young waves his hands as fans boo as he leaves the field in the second quarter of an NFL football game against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, in Nashville, Tenn. Young later left the game with an injured thumb.
Welp, we knew it was gonna be either Jeff Fisher or Vince Young out, and I guess Bud Adams figured it'd be easier to find another franchise quarterback than it would be to find another coach of Fisher's caliber. This marriage had to end, so I'm not surprised Bud decided to stick with Fisher. I don't get why the Titans came out and announced that releasing him was an option though, who's gonna give up players or draft picks for a guy they could possibly end up getting off waivers?? Either way, I know the fans in Tennessee are psyched for the Rusty Smith era.

Now, who's in the market for a quarterback this offseason?? The first teams that come to mind are the Dolphins, 49ers, Vikings, and Cardinals. The Panthers need s QB the most, but seeing they have the #1 pick in the draft, they're probably gonna wait and get one there. After the year Chad Henne had, I'm sure Miami would welcome VY, and pray he doesn't turn into Daunte Culpepper 2.0.

Random News Shit: NFL Headlines Edition

Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress watches action during the second half of the Vikings' National League preseason football game against the Seattle Seahawks in Minneapolis, August 28, 2010.
1) Brad Childress Fired; Leslie Frazier Promoted
Well it's about damn time, now he can finally return to his job as Michael Wilbon's co-host on PTI.

You know who this all sucks for?? Tarvaris Jackson. Why, you ask?? Because there's no way the black coach can step in and instantly insert the black QB into the line up. Not to mention that if he wants to keep this job he's gonna have to win games. Everybody hates Tarvaris *Everybody Hates Chris them voice.*

2) Vince Young Placed On IR
I'm not taking Jeff Fisher's side in this whole mess because he has been herky jerky with Vince Young in his career, but Vince is a sensitive bitch who needs to man up. Always whining and carrying on like a freaking child. Grow up nigga.

You know who the big loser in this situation is?? Randy Moss. Just a few weeks ago he was getting passes from Tom Brady, come Sunday he'll be getting them from Boca Raton's own Rusty Smith. "Randy Moss Quit-Mode" activated.

3) Tony Romo's Collarbone Is Still Broken
Fine. This season effectively ended when he initially got hurt, so there's no real reason to rush back. Get healthy and we'll see you in 2011 Romeo.

4) Richard Seymour Fined $25,000; No Suspension
Hell, the NFL should be giving Richard Seymour $25,000, not taking it away. You can't blame a guy for reacting to someone talking shit directly in their face.

I wonder if LeGarrette Blount called and consulted Seymour after this??

LeGarrette Blount: Still Punching

I'm with Jeff Fisher, so fuckin' what, it's training camp, fight happen ALL the time. Hell, Rex Ryan just set up a fight on last night's Hard Knocks. The only way it could have been a story is if it happened in an actual game, or it happened on the same exact date as when he punched that kid from Boise State. This story is no story.

(Side note: If things don't work out for LeGarrette in the NFL, I got 3 letters for him: MMA.)

FiyahMuZik's Midseason Awards

MVP: Clinton Portis, WAS
My first thought for mid-season MVP was Drew Brees because of his astromical numbers, but his Saints are just 4-4. Granted, 2 of those losses can be put squarely on the leg of Martin Gramatica who blew 2 games for them (week 3 at Denver and week 5 against Minnesota).

Anyway, I landed on Clinton Portis because after 9 games in the NFC East he's already on pace
for a career year. Even after only rushing for 51 yard Monday night against the Steelers, he's still 172 yards ahead #2 (and that's after #2, Adrian Peterson, rushed for 139 yards). And speaking of that game Monday, you see how ineffective the Redskins are when Portis isn't running well?? They wouldn't have 6 wins this season with Portis so he's my mid-season MVP.

Runner Up: Drew Brees, N.O.

Offensive Player Of The Year: Drew Brees, N.O.
It was out of either he or Kurt Warner, but I gotta give it to Brees because Warner is playing in a cupcake division. After 8 games Brees has 2,563 passing yards and 15 TDs while completing 69.1% of his passes. Don't forget that this is all without his #1 receiver Marques Colston for a majority of the season.

Runner Up: Kurt Warner, ARI

Defensive Player Of The Year: Albert Haynesworth, TEN
The Titans are 8-0 with Kerry Collins at QB. Need I say more?? Albert Haynesworth is fuckin' beast in the middle and usually takes out 2 O linemen at once. He's unblockable and my pick for mid-season defensive player of the year.

Runner Up: Joey Porter, MIA

Rookie Of The Year: Matt Ryan
This man has Atlanta like "Michael Vick who??" Right now. Its crazy! He's definitely playing at a level we rarely see out of rookies, especially at the quarterback position. I can name plenty of teams that could use 208 yards a game and just 5 INTs out of their QB.

Runner Up: Chris Johnson, TEN

Coach Of The Year: Jeff Fisher, TEN
Again, they're 8-0 with Kerry Collins at QB! Enough said.

Biggest Surprise: Miami Dolphins
After going 1-15 last year (and BARELY getting the one win they did get), nobody thought after 8 games the Dolphins would have 4 wins and/or a realistic shot at making the playoffs. I guess Bill Parcells does make that big of a difference.

Runner Up: Atlanta Falcons

Biggest Disappointment: Jacksonville Jaguars
I would've went with the Colts, but losing to the winless Bengals was the final straw. I know they have a depleted O-line, but come on! You guys won 11 games last year.

Runner Up: Indianapolis Colts
