Calm Down & Stop Twisting Scottie Pippen's Words

MJ & Pippen
I swear people are fucking dumb and just love making news out of nothing to have something to get mad over. You would think Scottie went on national television and said "Jesus is a bitch ass nigga" the way mostly everyone has reacted to his comments. What he said was really really not that serious.

Let's take a moment to look at those comments now:

"Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play in the game, but I may go as far as to say LeBron James may be the greatest player to ever play the game because he's so potent offensively that not only can he score at will, but he keeps everybody involved and you have to be on your P's and Q's on defense because no guy on the basketball court is not a threat to score when LeBron James is out there." via ESPN's Mike And Mike

Now, someone show me where Pippen said LeBron was better than Jordan and the greatest player of all-time. Don't worry, I'll wait.

"May." The man said "may." Not "is," but "may." That's "may" as in "I may get in a car accident on my way to work" or "This may be a better way to solve your problem." The word "may" indicates possibility, not inevitability. How isn't that common knowledge? And anyone with an ounce of common sense can clearly see Pippen is not taking a shot at Jordan, but rather applauding LeBron's passing ability in the quote above. Hell, half of the quote is Scottie talking about how off balance defenses have to be knowing LeBron's ability to create shots for others. Pippen's comments aren't blasphemous, they're dead on; LeBron is a better passer than Jordan. Period.

Unfortunately, majority of people don't have common sense, or hell, just sense in general, so instead of hearing what Pip actually said, they heard this:

"Michael Jordan ain't got shit on LeBron James. LeBron is a better scorer, passer, defender, teammate, and person than Jordan and is the greatest to ever play the game of basketball. Go Heat!" via everyone's imagination

Let's just cut the bullshit, all this hoopla is not about Scottie Pippen and it's not about Michael Jordan, it's about everybody "hating" LeBron James for whatever reason. It's true, and do you know how I know? Because I've seen multiple NBA analysts say Dirk Nowitzki may be better than Larry Bird, and not one of them was met with anywhere near the amount of outrage or backlash as Scottie Pippen. Now, of course none of the guys who said it were teammates of Bird (at least as far as I've seen), but the fact still remains that an extremely good player was comparison to a legend. Why wasn't that blown up on SportsCenter? Oh yeah, because everyone still likes Dirk. Simple as that.

(Side note: When I put it in that context, it really makes sense that all the people who now hate LeBron because he took less money to play on a better team would be mad at Scottie Pippen for something he didn't even say.)

You Better Wear Them Jordans, Harrison

I don't know why, but I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I guess it's funny to think that if all those shoe geek losers would've spent more time working on their game than planning on breaking into Foot Locker to get the new Jordans first they could've made it to UNC and just got whatever they wanted for free. That's satisfying.

A Few Thoughts On Jordan's Thoughts On LeBron

Jordan, Pippen, Rodman
So the new talk of the town are Michael Jordan's comments about LeBron James "taking his talents to South Beach." His Airness says he wouldn't have done the same, and that LeBron is a punk bitch. Okay, he didn't say that last part, but it'd be pretty sweet if he did. Welp, as you might've imagined, I have a few thoughts on on the situation.

First, let's take another look at the exact quote from MJ: "There's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team.'

Look, I love Mike, I learned to love the game because of the man, but his comments were kind of, ummm, what's the word, oh yeah, dumb. Of course he wouldn't have called Bird and Magic, by the time he was at the same point in his career as LeBron is now, Bird and Magic's careers were basically over. After the 1990-91 season (Jordan's 7th pro), Larry Bird and Magic Johnson played a combined 77 more games in the NBA, including Magic's failed comeback attempt in the 1995-96 season. Jordan and the Bulls had also just won their first NBA Championship in that 1990-91 season, so what use would he have had with them in the twilight of their careers while he was in his prime? So yeah, in hindsight I'm sure he wouldn't have been calling on Bird and Magic.

Hypothetically, let's say Michael did team up with either Bird or Magic after the 90-91 season. Do you know what that would've been like? It would've been like if LeBron had teamed up with Shaq at the end of his career. Oh, wait a minute, that really did happen. The guys in the Cleveland Cavaliers front office actually brought in Shaquille O'Neal, at age 37, to help LeBron win a championship. Hilarious! (Even more hilarious: A wise man once predicted that trading for Shaq would not only not bring a championship to Cleveland, but also would not help the Cavs keep LeBron this summer. I wonder who that wise man was??)

That brings me to my next point: Jordan's supporting cast was not only better than LeBron's, but it was waaaaaaaaay better than LeBron's.

The great part about this is that it can (and will) be proven as fact. After the 2010-11 season, we will be able to take the LeBron-less Cavs and directly compare them to the Jordan-less Bulls of 1993-94. The 10-11 Cavs are going to be virtually the same team, just minus LeBron, as the 93-94 Bulls were when Mike decided to retire the first time.

(Side note: Jordan retired in 1993 and cited a lack of desire for basketball as the reason, so he is really the right guy to be schooling LeBron? Yeah he came back, but like LeBron, Jordan is no stranger to abandoning his teammates.)

In actually, we don't even have to wait until the end this upcoming season, I can tell you right now that the 93-94 Bulls are better than the 10-11 Cavs. The 93-94 Bulls (without Michael Jordan playing one game) notched a 55-27 record and earned the 3rd seed in the playoffs, where they swept the Cavs in the first round, and took the Knicks (who went on to advance to the NBA Finals) to 7 games in the second. Let's see the Cavs do that next year. Not only will they not make it to the second round of the playoffs, but they won't make it to the first round either. The Cleveland Cavaliers will NOT play in the 2011 NBA Playoffs, I guarantee it.

In fact, I'm so confident the 10-11 Cavs won't make the postseason that if they do, I'll buy an authentic LeBron James Heat jersey and burn it live on the internet. Bet it! The Cavs, led by Mo Williams and Delonte West, will struggle to even win 20 games.

Anyway, what these older players (Jordan, Barkley, etc.) have to understand is that this whole LeBron-Wade-Bosh thing is a new and unique situation in a new and totally different NBA. Back in the day the game was MUCH more physical and rivalries and disdain were allowed to brew. Those guys weren't doing NBA Cares, they were doing white women and snorting the occasional line of coke. Now-a-days these guys are encouraged to be buddy-buddy and taunting and competitiveness is frowned upon by the guys in charge. You can barely even touch a guy without a foul being called. Oh, and don't let 2 players look at each other the wrong way or have words, that's an automatic double technical. Basketball has gone soft, so as far as I'm concerned, this kind of joining of forces was inevitable.

Lastly, everybody talking down about the new Heat need to realize they're just adding fuel to their fire. Of course they wanted to win before, but everybody coming at them (fairly and unfairly), is going to make them go that much harder to prove naysayers wrong. And don't look now, but Pat Riley has silently build a nice team around LeBron, Wade, and Bosh. Comments like Jordan's are only serve to make these guys mad, and they will take it out on the NBA this season, especially on the Charlotte Bobcats.

NBA 2K11 Featuring Michael Jordan

NBA 2K11
So after EA Sports crushed my soul by killing off NBA Live, I figured I'd go looking to see what the next installment of NBA 2K had to offer. Needless to say I wasn't expecting Michael Jeffrey Jordan. And even more needless to say than that: EA Sports somehow retaining my fandom for their NBA games looks grim.

NBA 2K11 will be in stores October 5th, and I can't wait!

(Side note: Yeah, NBA Live already featured Jordan years ago, but that's just what it was: years ago.)

Air Jordan 2010 Unveiled (& Probably Should Be Re-veiled)

Air Jordan XXV
Ain't this some shit?? What kinda regular ass shoe is this?? Everybody who helped with the design and conception of this shoe should be promptly handed pink slips. Air Jordans are usually new and stylish, these are wack and ordinary as fuck! They look like some generic ass shoes you'd find in K-Mart or Wal-Mart.

Air Jordan 2010 close-up
I don't know, maybe I just need to see them in a different color for me to like them better. Maybe an all black?? Who knows, maybe they'll grow on me. Lord knows these aren't the first pair of Jordans I've looked at side ways, but I think these might just be too plain to fix with a color change.

Look, you can drop your hard earned $170 on these shits on February 13, 2010 if you want too, but I think I'll pass.

If you really are interested in these shoes, click here for a more detailed view.

Random News Shit: Bullshit Edition

Maybe Ochocinco should've offered the dollar to Roger Goodell
1) Ocho Cinco Fined $20,000 For $1 JOKE
We all knew it was gonna happen, but this is still such bullshit. Atlanta coach Mike Smith was fined just $15,000 for his involvement in a sideline altercation with players, but Estaban jokingly over a dollar was across the line and worth $20,000?? Again, IT WAS A DOLLAR! If anything he should've been fined $1 by the league. Just more reason to hate Dictator Goodell. I swear, if I wasn't such a big Cowboy fan I'd seriously think about not fuckin' with the NFL because it keeps doing dumb shit like this.

(Side note: I wonder if he'll get fined again for sending this "tweet" to President Obama.)

2) Hornets Fire Scott, Replaces Him With GM
Here's some more bullshit for you, the 2008 NBA Coach Of The Year Byron Scott got fired 9 games into an 82-game season in favor for the Hornets GM aka the guy responsible for bringing in the players that got them off to a 3-6 start. Brilliant.

I never really liked the Hornets, but now I sure as hell don't. I would wish they'd tank the season, but that would do them benefit because they'd get a high draft pick, so instead I'm hoping they go 41-41. Fuck the Hornets.

3) NFL Bans Captain Morgan Pose TD-Celebration
Keeping up with our bullshit theme, remember in last Sunday night's Cowboys/Eagles game when Brett Celek scored and got a 15-yard penalty after lifting his right leg as his touchdown celebration?? Well yeah, that little ditty has been banned by the NFL.

Apparently Captain Morgan was planning on donating money to the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, a nonprofit that helps retired NFL players, every time a player struck the pose after a touchdown. Well the NFL wanted no part of that because if it doesn't make the league itself money, its a problem. That's right, don't be fooled, this is ALL about money. We can play football games in Heinz Field and Lank Shark Stadium, and watch 50 million Coors and Bud Light commercials during breaks, but somehow donating to a good cause is a bad idea. Bullshit! Its only a bad idea because the NFL isn't directly profitting off of it.

See, the NFL is like Jerome on "Everybody Hates Chris," they're assholes unless you let them "borrow a dollar." Sad. Its not good when I get to point where I'm having to remind myself of why I love this game.

4) LeBron James To Change His Number In Honor Of Michael Jordan
I believe I remember hearing ramblings over the summer about LeBron possibly changing his jersey number to 6, but I never knew why. Well now I do. 'Bron thinks nobody in the league should be allowed to wear #23 and you know what?? He's probably right. There are MANY legends of this game from Russell to Dr. J to Magic to Bird, but Michael is the greatest so this is a commendable move.

Do I think the NBA should make it a rule that no player should wear #23?? No. If you retire Jordan's number league-wide, you'd have to retire all the greats numbers league-wide, but it'd be a nice way to show respect for the best by all NBA players currently wearing the number to change.

Now the only thing yet to be answered is what team jersey will that #6 be on?? Well we should all know it definitely won't be a Knicks jersey lol.

5) Klondike Sponsers T.O.-Ocho Cinco Roast
I burned so many calories on the other stories that I'll let you check this one out yourself, but its a pretty neat idea.

Mavericks, Bobcats Get New Uniforms

These Mavs jerseys are essentially blue versions of their Diddy designed green alternatives. No big deal here.

Check out the Bobcats' new and improved uniforms after the jump.

Now these are new uniforms! I mean I didn't hate their old uniforms, but these are more professional looking. Maybe these guys are ready for a real playoff run since they're now a real team. Is Jordan still working in their front office?? Well if he is that's a strike against them, but then again, I know sell out ass Bob Johnson sold the team so maybe the 2 negatives will cancel each other out. (Its a good thing I'm black because that last sentence coming from a white writer would've been "racist" even though Jordan is disaster in NBA front offices and Johnson is, well,
a sell out lol).

Here goes some more info on pics of the 'Cats new unis.

Random News Shit: SportsCenter Edition

Hovi Hov & The Nets
1) Russia's Richest Man Buys 80% Of Nets
Wow, Jay-Z's stock in the Nets just shrunk by A LOT. Before he probably owned like 6 or 7%, now he owns like 0.0781%. If shit wasn't going so well for Hov he'd probably be pissed off. Instead he'll be on Oprah tomorrow. Even when he loses he still wins lol.

Of course this all means LeBron is definitely NOT leaving Cleveland after this season. Book it.

2) $100K Offer For Jordan-Russell Charity Rematch
Michael Jordan vs. Bryon Russell?? Who wants to see that?? What evidence is there to make me believe that Russell has gotten so much better in his old age that he could now take on Jordan?? I rather see them use the money to try to get a Jordan-Kobe one-on-one game or a Jordan-LeBron. There's any number of match-ups I'd rather see over Jordan-Russell, sorry.

3) Ocho Cinco Brings Back The CB List
The list is now officially called Dulce Venganza (Sweet Revenge) and he's out to get revenge for his poor play from a year ago. Next up on the list is Ike Taylor and William Gay as the Steelers head into Cincy this weekend. We'll see what happens, but there's no way the Bengals win this game and the Steelers will make them kiss the baby.

4) Marion Barber Practices
The media is only allowed to be at practice for the first 20 minutes so we don't really know how much he ended up doing, but at least he attempted to go. I'm not really worried about this though because it doesn't seem too serious and shouldn't keep him out too long so no need to rush him back when we have Felix Jones and Tashard Choice waiting in the wing.

ESPN did a greatest shooting guard pole for Daily Dime yesterday and of course Jordan came out on top lol. Here's the rest of the top 10:

1. Michael Jordan
2. Kobe Bryant
3. Jerry West
4. George Gervin
5. Allen Iverson
6. Clyde Drexler
7. Reggie Miller
8. Pete Maravich
9. Earl Monroe
10. Joe Dumars

Hmm...I wish I could, but its hard to argue against this list lol. Maybe I put Iverson #4 over George Gervin, but I still can't complain about this list. I wonder who'll be #1 in 10 years?? Who knows lol. [FULL LIST]

Air Jordan XX3 White/Titanium-University Blue Army

I love them! They kinda remind me of the Air Jordan XIII's I used to have back in like 7th grade. They just felt so good when I put them on for the first time and I wore them out literally (yep, until there was a hole in the bottom lol). [MORE PIX]

By the way, if you want these that bad the bid on eBay is currently at $1,000 and is just waiting for you to push it up to $1,025 lol. EBay is not really my thing and I don't see the benefit of buying anything for 5x its value especially when they'll be in stores within the next few weeks lol.

Air Jordan XX3

These new Jordans are ill as fuck! I GOTTA have them! Maybe that's the new found money Hittown Records just ran into talking, but damn these XX3's are hard. From what I've gathered, the XX3 is gonna be released in 3 rounds over January and February. A limited edition version is first up and will only be sold in 23 retailers (hopefully that's nationwide and not worldwide lol) for $230 a pop. The national launch of the shoe will be just $185, but I'm guessing there's gonna be something different about it so I dunno about you but I'm aiming for the limited edition joints lol.

If I got these shoes I probably wouldn't even wear them and just end up getting the regular ones and wearing them instead lol. Whatever the case, just know when these shits hit eBay just expect some crazy ass prices, more than likely over a stack. Now I just gotta find out how to get some without getting caught up in mass hysteria lol. [FULL STORY]
