Thursday Billboard Update - 10/6/11

Oh how wrong I was about the shipment of J. Cole's debuts album Cole World: The Sideline Story. As it turns out, plenty copies were shipped and a robust 217,279 were purchased. That's damn good for anyone these days, and especially good for someone with no hit single on the radio. Dare I say the real is back? In other Billboard 200 news, Blink-182's reunion album Neighborhoods moved 151,463 and claimed the #2 spot this week.

Adele's Someone Like You rises back to the #1 position, bumping Maroon 5's Moves Like Jagger featuring Christina Aguilera to #2. B.o.B is back as his Strange Clouds featuring Lil Wayne debuts at #7. I'm still not sure who David Guetta is, but his song Without You with Usher hops into the top 10 (11-8). Rihanna's We Found Love also cracks the top 10 in its 2nd week jumping 16-9. This is Rihanna's 20th top 10 song on the Hot 100, making her the fastest solo artist to hit the career milestone. Congrats, baby.

T-Pain Vows To Never Use Auto-Tune Again

Been meaning to talk about this for a few days, but whatever. Anyway, ya boy T-Pain told AllHipHop.com that he will never use auto-tune again. Hmm, no wonder there were so many joints on that Prevolver mixtape, he had to get rid of all the auto-tune records to start his new beginning. Neat.

Now, before you take to the streets and rejoice, you should know that that doesn't mean T-Pain will stop using funny voice effects altogether. Actually he's got something new called "The T-Pain Effect" that he says is "bigger and better" than auto-tune, which probably code for "weirder and even more annoying." Welp, I guess we'll just have to wait to see what "The T-Pain Effect" is exactly. Fingers crossed for it not being worse than auto-tune because that would be an odd and cruel way of Pain making us miss the technology that nearly killed Hip-Hop.

Chris Brown's F.A.M.E. didn't reach the 1 million sold plateau he was hoping for, but it does reach #1, selling 271,000 copies first week. While Chrisqo has had an album that's sold more first week, this is his first career #1. Coming in at #2 is Jennifer Hudson's I Remember Me with 165,100 sold. Kirk Franklin's Hello Fear debuts at #5 with a robust 78,800 sold. Last, but not least, Bobby V's (I'm assuming he's officially dropped the Valentino?) Fly On The Wall at #9 with 37,600 sold.

Over on the Hot 100, we have a new #1 and its Katy Perry's E.T. featuring Kanye West. The top debut this week is Wiz Khalifa's No Sleep blasting off at #6. And sadly Bruno Mars' Grenade finally exits the top 10 this week. Surprise, surprise, Justin Bieber's debut LP, My World 2.0 (My World 1.0 was an EP), takes over the #1 spot. Okay, that actually surprised no one, but what really shocked the shit out of me was that he only sold 282,700. I mean, that's good figure if you're underrated rapper or something, but Justin Bieber is the big phenomenon of 2010. You can't go on Twitter, Facebook, or turn on a TV without seeing that kid's name. There's no excuse for him to not AT LEAST have sold 500,000 first week. These new young groupie bitches are lousy as fuck. Anyway, Monica's Still Standing came in at #2 with 183,800. That's damn good, did her last album even sell that total?? So there is still a real artist inside of R. Kelly somewhere. Hearing Kellz making a joint like this is refreshing because I was getting tired of him riding T-Pain and The-Dream's coattail like he wasn't that nigga in the R&B for a solid decade. Its not quite Chocolate Factory shit yet, but he's getting warmer. We really need him to get back in the studio and finish that song Baby Girl with Pharrell if he hasn't already!

Another song about Rihanna?? He only about 3 or 4 leaked songs into a comeback and half them shits either been about Rihanna or can be interpreted to be about Rihanna. There's another Saigon track called Martian Alien Flow that was so wack I almost didn't listen to this track. I'm glad I decided to fuck with this Shout Outs though, its nice.

Why does it feel like I heard this track before?? Not so much SP and Uncle Murda, but the N.O.R.E. verse and the beat sound familiar as hell. Oh well.

T-Pain Clarifies Jay-Z Diss, Possibly Saves His Career

First and foremost: LMAO at Jay telling Pain he was in Switzerland! That's like that Chappelle's Show with Wayne Brady when he gave up his show and Big Boi said he couldn't hang out with him because he was getting back surgery and playing golf with Don Cornelius lol.

Anyway, did I not tell you there was gonna be some kinda public apology the other day?? Man, I do this shit! lol.

While it was still dumb on the part of T-Pain, I'm glad he did this and expressed how he felt because I didn't really wanna have to not like him anymore over this.

Unfortunately for T-Pain, the damage is done. He'll be able to reel some in like me who actually pay attention to these things, but there are definitely others out here that this mess isn't going to reach. There are people out there who didn't actually hear T-Pain talking reckless about Hov, but was told he did by someone else who will just go around not like T-Pain because they never heard his side or him saying it wasn't gonna happen again. So it was still a stupid move since Jay's fan base is so much bigger and some people were waiting on a reason to not like T-Pain.

Now that we got that part out of the way, how funny was that Fabolous shit on Twitter the other day?? Fab was ridin' out on T-Pain! I didn't even know he was that funny. I don't follow many rappers on Twitter because the usually don't have shit to say, but I had to get Fab the nod lol.
