NBA Announces All-Defensive Teams
Now you may be thinking, "How does Defensive Player of the Year, Tyson Chandler not make the First Team?" That's a fair question, but the answer is that coaches vote on the All-NBA teams, while media members vote for the individual awards (MVP, DPoY, etc.). I guess the coaches just didn't fear Chandler defensively as much as they feared Dwight Howard.
Honestly, I have no problem with this because I don't think Chandler should've won Defensive Player of the Year in the first place. Since when did being the best defensive player on a shitty defensive team make you the league's best? Chandler winning the award was actually a mini travesty, if you ask me. Serge Ibaka lead the league in blocks by over a block and a half per game! On the other hand, Chandler (89) only had 4 more total blocks than Greg Stiemsma (85)! Greg Stiemsma! Stiemsma only played in 55 games and started just 3. Again, he only had 4 less blocks than Chandler on the season.
Of course blocks aren't the only thing that matters, but I'm just saying, Tyson Chandler wasn't the best player in the NBA this season, in my opinion.
(Side note: Who in the hell gave Carlos Boozer a vote for the All-Defensive team? That coach should have his vote taken away.)

Random News Shit: Sports Recap Edition
Vikings Waive Randy Moss
Which has a better chance of happening: Brad Childress keeping his job or Kat Stacks getting saved??
I know it's a stretch, but personally, I'm gonna have to go with the latter. At the least there's a 0.1 percent chance Kat Stacks gets saved. There's negative chance Childress keeps his job. Chilly couldn't be any more out if was Brett Favre's dick with a camera phone within arms-length. I mean, yeah, Randy Moss is a certified head case, but there's NO reasonable explanation for cutting someone you traded a 3rd round draft pick for after a month. One month! Four games!
And then that bullshit explanation about Moss berating a cater and his food, what was that?? Mike Shanahan came up with a better excuse than that for benching Donovan McNabb for Rex Grossman (but we'll get into that shortly). Moss would have to literally ass rape the caterer on my office desk while I was on the phone with my momma for me to even THINK about cutting him. At the very least Chilly should have called up Dollar Bill Sellatrick and said, "OK, we fucked up. Keep the 3rd-rounder, give us a 5th, and you can have Randy back." Whatever you do, you can't just cut Randy Moss after 4 games.
Dollar Bill wins again.
Mike Shanahan Says Donovan McNabb Not In Shape For 2-minute Drill
I hope Mike Shanahan at least sent Brad Childress a gift basket for deflecting attention away for this godawful excuse for an excuse. He wasn't in shape?? Really?? So he played 7 complete games before this, including 2 overtime periods, without a problem, but he wasn't in good enough shape to run the 2-minute drill??
And it's not like the Redskins have been blowing people out and Donovan hasn't had to do much in 4th quarters, 6 of their first 7 games were decided by 6 points or less, including 4 by 3. He managed all that, but the 2-minute drill was too much to ask on that day?? Give me a fuckin' break.
Then, to make matters worse, you replace McNabb with the "Opposite Team Touchdown Machine" Rex Grossman?? That's like replacing Josh Freeman with Morgan Freeman.
Would anyone had blamed Donovan for Randy Moss-style berating Mike Shanahan in Washington's locker room?? I don't think so.
JaMarcus Russell works out for Washington Redskins
The only thing potentially more outrageous than replacing Donovan McNabb with Rex Grossman would be replacing JaMarcus Russell for anyone on an NFL roster. Why would the team who deemed McNabb too out of shape to finish a game and wouldn't let Albert Haynesworth practice until he passed a conditioning test even consider working out JaMarcus Russell?? Makes no sense.
Charlie Villanueva Says Kevin Garnett Called Him A 'Cancer Patient'
KG isn't the only one with a message for Charlie V, here's mine: Hey Charlie, stop being a fuckin' bitch.
Seriously though, if he was so pissed about allegedly being called a cancer patient, why didn't he handle it on the court instead of going home and tweeting about it like a loser?? It's easy to talk tough via Twitter, back that shit or shut that shit up. I mean, what's the worse that would happen, he'd be fined and suspended?? He robbed the Pistons for $40 million, I think he should be able to afford it.
Giants Dump Series MVP Renteria
Yeah, because dumping your World Series MVP days after winning worked out so well for the Yankees too.
Grizzlies Sign Mike Conley To $40 Extension
David Stern is a doucher and all, but he's right about NBA salaries needing to come down. I'm not saying Mike Conley isn't good (he would've been a better #1 pick than fuckin' Greg Oden), this seems like a whole lot for the 4th or 5th best player on the team.
Atlanta Hawks, Al Horford Agree To $60M Contract Extension
Nice investment into the future, but $60 million does seem like a lot. He is still only 24 though, so I guess this is fair.
Buffalo Bills Claim Shawne Merriman On Waivers
I don't think it's ever a good thing for a player when the first team in waiver claim order claims you. Oh well, Shawne just isn't good anymore, and he's more injury prone than Kris Jenkins. I give him 3, or 4 years tops before he's out of the league completely.
(Side note: I hope he turns his career around, but I'm just not sure he will.)
Tennessee Titans Claim Randy Moss On Waivers
Oh, and finally, speaking of waivers, the Titans picked up some waived wide receiver. His name is Randy Moss, I don't know, have you heard of him??

NBA All-Star Starters; Hatin' On Iverson
LeBron James F Carmelo Anthony
Dwyane Wade G Kobe Bryant
Allen Iverson G Steve Nash
Why is everybody so tight about Allen Iverson not only making the All-Star team, but making it as a starter?? Yeah his stats aren't there this year, but he's Allen Iverson! Its a game for the fans and fans like Allen Iverson. Deal with it. Seriously, its a fuckin' exhibition game, it doesn't count for anything, let the fans see who they wanna see without all the bitching. The fans are the ones who pay the ridiculous prices to support these players and teams, they can't AT LEAST see who they want in the All-Star game?? Again, its an exhibition game, it doesn't count.
Besides, why is everyone singling out A.I.?? I don't hear anyone complaining about Kevin Garnett (15 and 8) or Tim Duncan (20 and 10) starting. You telling me Chris Bosh (24 and 11), Antawn Jamison (22 and 8), and Gerald Wallace (19 and 11) aren't all having better seasons than K.G.?? Hell, even David Lee (19 and 11) is having a better season than Garnett.
And out on the West, you telling me you can't make a argument that guys like Kevin Durant (29 and 7), Dirk Nowitzki (26 and 8), and Zach Randolph (21 and 12) should be starting over Timmy?? All of these guys are having better seasons than the person starting over them, but still, Iverson is the one everyone is up in arms about. Of course we all know why though, because K.G. and Timmy are seen as "good guys" and A.I. isn't. Bottom line. Its sad that its come to that, but it has. Sad.

Kevin Garnett Is Ready
A week or so ago I told y'all KG said he was back and ready for the new season, but its still nice to see some footage to back that up. The Celts might have a 90s All-Star team, but if they can last 82 games they will give the LeBrons all they can handle.

Random News Shit: NBA Edition
He's just playing 5-on-5's right now, but the way it was seeming last year I didn't know if he'd even be ready for the beginning of the season. Well not it looks like he is and now he's just trying to get his timing back. We'll see if that bad knee can hold up for 82 games. I have my doubts.
2) NBA Tells Teams League Will Use Replacement Refs
This is the big story nobody is really talking about. You thought the calls refereeing was bad before, well wait until we get a load of these replacement refs. Who knows though, maybe these guys are an improvement over the old refs. I doubt it though and I also don't see any way this goes good.
3) Delonte West Still A No Show For The Cavs
Okay, so he didn't show up for the first day yesterday, and Delonte continued that trend today. This guy is fuckin' crazy! They better put this nigga on suicide watch, we already know he deals with depression and now nobody has seen him as the season approaches. We'll see, but I wouldn't be surprised.
4) McGrady's Rehab Is Ahead Of Schedule
Not sure how much it matters at this point because the Rockets aren't going anywhere this year with Yao out. I feel bad for Tracy because he used to be that nigga, but now he's probably one more injury away from retirement.
5) Al Jefferson Shows Up To Camp 31 Pounds Lighter
He says he lost the weight on the Jared diet by eating only 2 foot long Subway subs a day. He better go pick up his check or call one of these ESPN shows so he can be on the Subway Fresh Take Hotline because he's giving them too much free promotion right now.

Rivers: KG Could Miss Entire Postseason
Did you hear that?? That was the Cavs screaming for joy as the news that there's a "strong" possibility that Kevin Garnett misses the 2009 playoffs came across the wire. Check out what coach Doc Rivers had to says to WEEI-AM this morning:"He's not going to be ready. After watching him practice, there's no way... The way I saw him move today, I don't know if he'll be ready... If he can't get through biking and working out without swelling and his leg locking, I don't know how you can play in the playoffs... This was an honest run today, you couldn't make your way through it. The guy's a warrior, you see him try to mask his way through it. But after 20 minutes of running, I don't see it. After today, there's no way he can play."
Sad, sad stuff. This totally changes the whole dynamic of the playoffs in the East! Watch out for the Bulls in the first round, D. Rose and the boys won't be a push over in the first round. We might see another series like we did in the first round last year against Atlanta. Boston fans should be terrified!
Now that this news has hit, can we skip the playoffs and just fast forward to the Lakers/Cavs NBA Finals?? We all know its gonna be Kobe vs. LeBron so why wait??

Kobe's No. 24 Jersey Back At #1
When Kobe changed his number from 8 to 24 in 2007 his jersey was the number 1 seller, but in 2008 Kevin Garnett's Boston Celtics No. 5 bumped him. Now its 2009 and Kobe is back on top of thangs, knocking K.G. to #2. I can't really say I'm surprised because not only are the Lakers playing some great basketball right now, but their white jerseys are sick. I don't even wear jerseys anymore, but if I did I'd get a white Kobe. I guarantee you that if they tracked the colors sold the white joints would be #1 with the purple aways being #2 and the gold home ones coming in last. I mean ever since NBA Live 2003 I've played with the Lakers solely so I could rock the white jerseys on the game lol.
Anyway, check out the top 10 after the jump. I'm almost positive you'd be surprised when you see it. Oh, and the All-Star reserves are gonna be announced tomorrow night on TNT so tune in and come back later to see my reaction.
1) Kobe Bryant
2) Kevin Garnett
3) LeBron James
4) Chris Paul
5) Allen Iverson
6) Pau Gasol
7) Paul Pierce
8) Dwyane Wade
9) Derrick Rose
10) Nate Robinson
Really?? Nate Robinson made the list?? Then again, if you like the Knicks, who else's jersey are you gonna buy?? lol. I also can't believe Pau Gasol is all the way up to #6! I'm telling you, its those white Laker jerseys. Next year Bynum will probably be up there too. Lastly, how did D-Wade drop to #8?? Fucked up lol.

All-Star Starters Announced; Howard Sets New Record
Never in the history of fan voting for NBA All-Star games has one player surpassed 3 million votes. Not Jordan, not LeBron, not Shaq, not Yao. Well in 2009 Dwight Howard did just that finishing with a record 3,150,181 votes! That Superman shit last year did wonders lol. Before this year the most votes ever received was 2,558,278 by Yao in 2005. And not only did Dwight break Yao's record, but so did LeBron (2,940,823), Kobe (2,805,397), D-Wade (2,741,413), and Tim Duncan (2,578,168). I don't know if the NBA All-Star game is just more relevant than ever, but whatever the case you know David Stern is somewhere poppin' bottles lol.
Anyway, here are the starters:
East:
C - Dwight Howard
F - Kevin Garnett
F - LeBron James
G - Dwyane Wade
G - Allen Iverson
West:
C - Yao Ming
F - Tim Duncan
F - Amare Stoudamire
G - Kobe Bryant
G - Chris Paul

Record Start (21-2) For The Celts
Pretty darn impressive if I might say so myself. I still don't really like the Celtics (or maybe that's just the city of Boston??), but either way you gotta think of this in the historical sense and think that no other Celtic team in their long history has ever started off this well. Not Larry's team, not Russell's team, KG's team. Crazy!

Shoes For Change
Last night while the world was awaiting a new President Of The United States and the Rockets and Celtics were playing, at least 2 players made it a point to be heard...through their footwear. In the picture up time you see Kevin Garnett's shoe with "EMBRACE CHANGE VOTE '08" sown into the side, and at the bottom you see Tracy McGrady's with "CHANGE IS NEEDED VOTE '08" along the back. Very nice touch.
Though T-Mac's have the whole red, white, and blue thing going on, I gotta say KG's look better to me. I'd rock either, but if I had a choice, I'd take KG's.

Garnett Gets NBA2K9 Cover; Parker Gets NBA Live 09
Hmmm...speaking over video game covers, I wonder what Madden is gonna do with their '09 cover with Brett Favre in a Packers uni seeing he now wants his release? Oh well, here's the NBA game vids:
Man, if these games really look this sick I'm buying both this year! Usually they never do so I won't get my hopes up lol. And I'll post the covers when I find them (I saw Parker's cover, but the pic was small as hell).
Well we know which one KG is gonna buy, check out what he had to say about NBA2K:
"NBA 2K is where it's at! End of story," said Garnett. "It's the game I play, the game my friends play, and the game anyone in the league serious about videogames plays. NBA 2K is the real deal, and until 2K Sports finds a way to plant an elbow in your chest, it's the closest thing to actually being there on the court. I can't tell you how pumped I am to be on the cover of NBA 2K9 -- it's a real honor. Now watch out! Because this fall 2K Sports and I are going to deliver the best basketball video game out there, period."
Ouch! He pretty much said the same shit about NBA Live back in 2001 when he graced that cover so no one should get too upset by this lol.

Game 1, Boston
What a game! I was hyped off this game 1 like it was a game 7 lol. If for some reason you weren't watching the final score was Boston 98-88. I predicted Boston would win the 1st game with the Lakers ultimately winning in 6 on the phone earlier, but I don't know now. I'm just lost with this series as a whole because K.G. has been my favorite player since Jordan retired the 2nd time, but I'm not too big on the Celtics and at the same time I love Kobe and the Lakers. I just don't know who I want to win, but this has been a great series so far just off this one game.
How ill was it when Paul Pierce came back to the game and you saw the crowd all standing like they were doing the wave and shit lol. Then Pierce goes right to work and busts two 3's back to back!
And how about that put-back dunk Garnett had late in the 4th?? That shit was sick! Oh yeah and that alley oop from Fisher to Kobe mid-way through the 3rd?? Can't forget the 4-point play Pierce had at the beginning of the 3rd. Man, this was just a great game! I can't wait until game 2 Sunday, I'm out!

KG Wins Defensive Player Of The Year
More bittersweet news for me as it pertains to me and KG as he wins his first Defensive Player of the Year Award. I always wish him well, but I'm still pissed he went to the C's. I probably should be more mad at the T'Wolves, but whatever lol. [FULL STORY]
Anyway, speaking of the NBA, did y'all see the 2 games last night?? I actually wanted the Wizards to win the series against the Cavs, but since they wore those god-awful gold and black uniforms both games I'm glad they're down 0-2 lol.
As far as the late game goes, I watched the end and the refs definitely bailed the Jazz out last night. That was FAR from a foul, but it took away the gaming tying 3 Bobby Jackson hit and the Rockets went on to lose. Tough break lol.

Kevin Garnett Is The Leading All-Star Vote Getter
This is bullshit man! I rooted for K.G. and the shitty T-Wolves for like 10 fuckin' years and all of a sudden he goes to Boston and now he's the lead All-Star vote getter?? I love K.G. and he's been my favorite player ever since Jordan hung 'em up the 2nd time, but this is just wack to me. Now, I wouldn't say he's a shell of himself in Boston, but he's nowhere near as productive as he was in Minny and now he's the leading vote getter?? Where was all this love when he was averaging 24 points, 14 boards, and 5 assist a game, or when he won MVP, or all those years he lead the league in rebounding?? The leading vote getter is average 18 points a game??? That's just weird lol.
I dunno I guess I still have a lil ill will towards K.G. for allowing himself to go to Boston instead of forcing the hands that would've led him to L.A. with Kobe (if you think the Lakers are ballin' now, just imagine how good they'd be if that Garnett trade worked out) and leaving me without a team to cheer for (I'm sorry I hate the Celtics and their plain ass jerseys lol). [FULL STORY]
Also it just breaks my heart when I see him scoring like 9 points in a game and it makes me feel like Mikki Moore last night!
