Shyne Dropped By Def Jam?

Around this time last year, Shyne talked about wanting to leave Def Jam for Cash Money. Well, according to producer Ken Lewis, he's free to go not get his album released by Cash Money, because he's been dropped by Def Jam. Take it away, HipHopDX and Ken:
DX: You worked on Shyne's album Godfather Buried Alive, and you were also mixing all of his upcoming album, right?
Ken Lewis: Well, I mixed 18 songs for the upcoming album and produced two, but he got dropped from Def Jam [Records], and I haven’t heard from him since.
DX: I didn't even realize he had been dropped from Def Jam—
Ken Lewis: Yeah, that may not be common knowledge. [Laughs] That might get me in trouble. His release date was splattered as May 17 all over the world, but the day came and went, and I never heard from Shyne again. I don't really know what happened to him, I just know that as far as I’m concerned, 'm not a part of that record anymore.
Whew! Looks like we dodged a bullet there. Now if only we could every recording studio in Belize to stage an NBA-esque lockout against Shyne so we could be assured no more
Oh, and speaking of
Ken Lewis: As he told me, he didn't want to be the same guy that was locked up. He's like, 'I don't want to put my mother through that again, I don't to go back to that old guy.' It was a conscious decision for him to change his vocal style and his flow. A lot of people didn't get it and wanted him to go back to the old Shyne, but he had enough belief and integrity in himself to say, 'As far I'm concerned, I'm rapping for the people in streets and in prison, I don't give a fuck what the critics think.' So love him or hate him, you've got to respect him for knowing who the audience he's trying to reach is, and speaking directly to them and sticking to it and not trying to mold himself to whatever the flavor of the day is.
So Shyne made the conscious decision to purposely make shitty music... and he's blaming that decision on his mom? Really? I bet his mom is at home re-living this scene from "Talladega Nights" and replacing "Ricky Bobby" with "

TM103 Gets Pushed Back Again
As of right now, there is no new release date scheduled, but seeing how Big K.R.I.T.'s album got pushed back to early 2012, I'm guessing the new date for TM103 will be in December. Hopefully Jeezy can build some actual buzz by then because while Jeezy fans are anticipating this album, I'm not sure how many others are. And if Def Jam can't even give solid release dates, I doubt there will be any massive marketing plan. Shit isn't looking great for Jeezy right now.
Oh well, guess we'll just have to wait and see what's up. The Real Is Back 2 will have to do for now.

Shyne: L.A. Reid Doesn't Care About Rap People
"I'm definitely trying to get with Cash Money but the Def Jam thing is a question mark right now," Shyne told SOHH. "I've been fixing to get up out of there for a while now because [Island Def Jam CEO] L.A. Reid don't care about hip-hop. The people up there, they don't know what they're doing. When you don't have a strong leader, where you gonna go? ... They don't care about hip-hop music. You give them a hip-hop record with an R&B singer, you "might" have a chance. They don't care. You got The Roots, Ghostface, Nas, probably the best hip-hop roster you could imagine and they do nothing. L.A. Reid doesn't want nothing to do with rappers -- it's nothing personal, I don't have nothing personal with dude but he makes it known he doesn't care about hip-hop. So I'm really interested in seeing who's gonna replace him. Because I know he's been replaced -- so I wanna find out who's gonna take his spot before I decide what I'm gonna do with Def Jam...The music that we make is responsible for pop, R&B, everything that's jumping right now..." via SOHH.com
Well that's some true spit, but my concern with this is the person who's spitting it. Shyne can't criticize Def Jam or L.A. Reid for not wanting to promote/drop his music, I mean, has he heard his music?? The shit is fuckin' BAD. And no, not "bad, real bad, Mike Jackson." Just regular ass bad bad.
Shyne is probably right, L.A. most likely cares more about R&B than he does Hip-Hop, but I'm gonna need Po to ditch that Rick Ross parody voice he's rapping in now, and go make some music people want to hear before he complains about his situation. What about the situation Def Jam is in when they gave him all this money and he decided to take a knife to the throat, wrist, and back of his post-prison buzz by making a bunch of trash nobody likes?? Point out one person who has interest in hearing a Shyne album right now. Not two, just one. You can't. I rest my case.
(Side note: Why would Shyne want to leave Def Jam to go to Cash Money?? I understand Jimmy Iovine probably took the Interscope deal off of the table after hearing Shyne's new music, but he wants to go to Cash Money?? I know he's been gone for some time, but he's got to know releasing albums isn't something they're into. In fact, I'd say he has about a 40% less of a chance of getting his album released on Cash Money than he currently does on Def Jam.
Of course Cash Money will let him do some mixtapes and songs with Lil Wayne, Drake, and 'nem, let him write songs for Birdman, and let him walk on stage at the BET Awards when Nicki Minaj accepts her awards, but his album will be on the shelf longer than Jae Millz and Gudda Gudda combined.)

50 Cent Mel Gibsons Shyne
50 is a fuckin' fool lol. It's funny this happened now because I was just watching those 50 video when he was humiliating Rick Ross and listening to those awful Shyne tracks he released earlier this year.
Anyway, Def Jam deserves this for still having Shyne under contract. I mean, of course signing him seemed like a good idea at the time, but once they heard the flaming turds he was producing in the studio on their dime, they should've took the Pete Carroll route and released him soon after like he was LenDale White. I'm just saying.

Big K.R.I.T. Signs To Def Jam
I still remember being in my homegirl's (and former co-worker's) car in like 2008 and her telling me about this guy named Big K.R.I.T., and now look at him in 2010. Def Jam definitely isn't the force it was in year's past, but the man has come a LONG way and is helping prove that real rap is back. You're gonna have to have mic skills to hang around in these upcoming years because these labels aren't giving away deals to just anybody ol' dude now.
Anyway, congrats to K.R.I.T., and man, Def Jam y'all might wanna hired my homegirl Tonya because she keeps her ears to the streets and saw this YEARS ago lol.

Random News Shit
1) Mike Vick Officially A Free Man Today!
Here's the great news, Michael Vick has been released from federal custody and is now free to return to the football field. I hope my dude can find some work in the NFL AS A QUARTERBACK (you know they always hated that a black QB was ballin' like that and always wanted to make him a RB), but I'd be lying if I said shit didn't look bleak as of right now. Not only does he have to get a team willing to take a chance, but he also has to get reinstated by Dictator Goodell. Good luck!
2) Paula Abdul May Be Leaving 'Idol'
When Ryan Seacrest got that 3-year/$45 million contract to stay on American Idol last week, I wondered how much the judges were getting paid if he was getting that kinda money. Well in the case of Paula Abdul, its obviously not much. Word on the Idol streets is that Paula isn't coming back to the show because the powers that be only wanna pay her about $2 million a year.
If that's true, that is sooo fucked up! Seacrest gets $15M while Paula only gets $2M?? Something doesn't sound right to me so I don't know if I believe that rumor (the rumor is her getting $2million, her maybe leaving Idol is a fact).
Welp, auditions for the new start August 6th so they better get this all settled soon. Looks like this may be the beginning of the end.
3) Big Boi Headed To Def Jam
What?? Jive is not a great place to be, but Def Jam?? I don't know Big. Then again, he does get to team back up with L.A. Reid so maybe this is a good thing. Plus, at least its not Bad Boy or Cash Money where we know there's no chance of the album coming out lol. I wonder what these means for the new OutKast album if its even really being made??
4) Nick Cannon 'Overseeing' Cory Gunz's Debut, Producing Reality Show
Cory Gunz CLEARLY doesn't want to succeed. I mean seriously, you're letting Nick Cannon "oversee" your album?? Good luck with that Cory.
What's the possibilty that Cory doesn't think he can live up to expectations and is doing this to purposely sabotage his own career??
5) ESPN's Erin Andrews To Sue Over Nude Video
What?!? There's a nude video of Erin Andrews out there somewhere??? Aww man, if you got it you need to slide that over to ya boy! Erin Andrews can get it!

Jay-Z Leaves Def Jam, But Fuck That, Where's BP3???
You know, I'm actually glad this whole thing came about because I had forgot to talk about the album and all the delay AND this video of No I.D. saying, "everything in Blueprint 3 is like 808s & Heartbreak but with more hip-hop." What the fuck is that supposed to mean?? Am I just wasting my time waiting on this album?? I swear to you, if BP3 sounds ANYTHING like 808s & Heartbreak, not only am I not buying it, but I just may put my Jay-Z fandom up for sale on eBay. If I do that, I will also officially move him from out of the #1 spot in my top 5 down to #5 and promote Nas to #1. That's not a threat Hov, its a warning.

Uncle Murder Off Def Jam

Jermaine Dupri Out As Head Of Island Records Urban Division
Damn, life sucks for JD. Besides the money, cars, and real estate, this nigga aint got shit! Poor little man. (Can anyone feel my pain and envy?? lol.) Anyway, yeah it looks like JD is out so that's terrible news for all those niggas he signed over there like Q Da Kid, Duffy, and that YouTube chick. Remember what happened to J-Kwon, Bonecrusher and the rest of those niggas on SoSoDef when he switched labels last time?? He even lost Bow Wow in that lil mix up thing. Oh well, sucks for them niggas.

Def Jam Exec VP Shakir Stewart Commits Suicide
Wow, how random and weird is this?? Somebody must've really been after this dude if he killed himself 3 days before we got a new president. Something had to be wrong, this nigga was the president of fuckin' Def Jam, why would you body yourself?? I mean I know records ain't selling like they used to but damn.
Excuse me if I don't sound compassionate, but I just can't respect people taking their own lives.

Chuck D For President '08!
So you might have heard Chuck D has put his bid in to replace Jay-Z as el Presidente over at Def Jam BUT c'mon on now we ALL know that will never happen lol. I mean I applaud Chuck for trying and his plan makes a lot of sense to me, but Def Jam is a lost cause right now as far as Hip-Hop goes and hiring Chuck would only bring it back to the forefront where it belongs. I doubt L.A. Reid wants that. Then again, stranger things have happened so I'll keep my eyes open. Chuck D for President '08! [FULL STORY]

Jay-Z To Step Down As Def Jam President
They've been speculating about this shit for some time now, but now its real. Honestly, if I was Jay I would've left a long time ago and just went and chilled with B on some exotic island until I felt like recording again lol. I guess that's why I'm not Hov lol. Anyway, I wonder who everyone at Def Jam is gonna blame for their album not dropping or getting no promo now?? lol. Maybe they'll realize L.A. Reid is really the one in charge of what goes on and has the final say on everything lol.
Hey you know what would be ill?? If Dame came in and took over Jay's spot as el Presidente. I doubt it, but I can dream can't I?? lol. Aight well good luck Jay, you rich muthafucka! [FULL STORY]

Rick Ross Gets Nas'd
Yep you read right, Rick Ross' new album Trilla just got Nas'd! By "Nas'd" I mean he got pushed back to February. That's February 19th to be exact, according to Billboard.com, and that's its original release date of December 18th. Well, at least Def Jam realized they were gonna drop too many flops much too close to each other and pushed a few back.
