Not much going on on the Billboard 200 this week. The Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D. jumps back into things with 39,600 sold this week and landing back in the top 10 at #6. Mario's new album D.N.A. (which I had no idea was coming out) debuted at #9 with 31,700 sold. Not bad for 0 promotion.
This week Jay Sean reclaims his spot atop the Hot 100 with his single Down. I'm not sure how much longer he can keep it up though because The Black Eyed Peas' Meet Me Halfway finally made it to the top 10 (17-9) and has its black eyes set on #1. The Billboard 200 1-10 first week debuts in bold
1. Jay Sean - Down (2-1) 2. Jason Rulo - Whatcha Say (4-2) 3. Miley Cyrus - Party In The U.S.A. (3-3) 4. Jay-Z - Run This Town (5-4) 5. Britney Spears - 3 (1-5) 6. Lady GaGa - Paparazzi (7-6) 7. Owl City - Fireflies (9-7) 8. Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling (6-8) 9. Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway (17-9) 10. Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me (8-10)
After debuting debuting at #52 last week, Chris Brown's I Can Transform Ya jumps 25 spots to #27. We'll see how this goes.
Ester Dean's Drop It Low keeps it pushing in its 6th week, moving 49-38.
In a random showing, Chamillionaire's Good Morning debuts at #40. I have no idea what this song is or where it came from lol.
Usher's Papers gets off to a slow start debuting at #92 this week. We'll see if it picks up in the upcoming weeks, but who knows??
In a last hooray, New Boyz's Tie Me Down with Ray-J debuts at #97.
1) Its good to see Hurricane Chris still living. 2) Who is that girl in Chris' bed?? She looks soooo fuckin' familiar! I KNOW I've seen her before, but I can't put my finger on where. 3) Plies, tucked in shirt?? Really?? 4) That "Duncan Hines/I get you moist" line was wack when Cam'ron said it, and it still wack when Plies said it. 5) I do like the song, its pretty generic, but its better than most girl songs.
This is the 100th issue of the Thursday Billboard Update! Thank you, me!
Michael Jackson's Number Ones (98,000) outsold everybody again this week. Shocker.
Drake's Best I Ever Had looks to be showing some crack this week as it finally give way of that #2 spot and slides to #3. I hope they are actually working on his album because I think this song is now on the way out. Joining the top 10 this week is Pitbull's Hotel Room Service. It was on a bullseye to the top 10 since I picked it up July 23rd and its finally made it. And of course this is not only Pit's 2nd top 10 this year, its the 2nd top 10 of his career! The Billboard 200 1-10 first week debuts in bold
1. Sugarland - Live On The Inside (1) 2. Various Artists - Now 31 (4-2) 3. Gloriana - Gloriana (3) 4. Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D. (5-4) 5. Kings of Leon - Only By The Night (6-5) 6. 1. Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling (1-1) 2. Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me (3-2) 3. Drake - Best I Ever Had (2-3) 4. Keri Hilson - Knock You Down (4-4) 5. Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody (5-5) 6. Jay Sean - Down (6-6) 7. Cobra Starship - Good Girls Go Bad (10-7) 8. Sean Kingston - Fire Burning (7-8) 9. Pitbull - Hotel Room Service (15-9) 10. Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow (8-10)
After jumping 20 spots (41-21) last week, Shakira's She Wolf has jumped an additional 8 spots this week (21-13) and will be showing up in the top 10 next week in its 5th week on the charts.
Looks like Mario has a hit on his hands as Break Up has reached a new high after jumping 11 spots 31-20.
Fabolous' Throw It In The Bag continues to be a late bloomer as it gains another 9 spaces jumping 47-38.
Drake's Successful jumps another 10 spots 75-65. I wonder do we have to call it "Drake & Trey Songz's Successful" now that we know its also gonna be on Trey Songz's Ready album??
Jay-Z is out to prove people wrong as Run This Town jumps 22 spots (88-66) in its 2nd week on the charts.
Flo Rida's new joint Be On You with Ne-Yo continues to climb as it moves 80-67 in its 4th week.
Whitney Houston's comeback single I Look To You debuts this week at #74.
Jeremih's Imma Star (Everywhere We Are) jumps 14 spots 100-86 this week. Maybe a potential 2nd hit?? I don't know.
Jamie Foxx's Digital Girl debuts at #92 this week. This isn't the original version though, its the Drake remix.
Wassup y'all?? This cold finally seems to be going away so I'm back to work! Sorry I didn't make Tuesday, but its all good you guys love me anyway ;-).
Anyway, big day in music which equals an even bigger day in flops (who knows why people don't realize its not a good idea to drop your album on the same day as 32 other albums drop or drop in the weeks following a major release like Kanye West or Alicia Keys, but I guess that's just the story of our lives lol).
First up is Bow Wow and Omarion's Face Off. I heard the album was wack, but that's not really the point here lol. The real point is that it just wasn't a good idea in the first place. I like Omarion and Bow is straight but together? Not so much (I think that Designated Driver turned me off to the idea of this album lol). Well, whatever the case may be they're still gonna flop. If this came out in January or at least a week when a ton of other shit was droppin' I'd say it'd do like 250k first week BUT since that's not the case I'm guessing this album will be good for about 110-130k. Next up is arguably the most annoying new artist to hit the scene, The-Dream, and his debut album Love/Hate. I mean besides the fact this dude looks like a lame and wrote some of the worst song of 2007...fuck it, no one is more annoying the Soulja Boy BTW is he still around?? Whatever lol. Shawty Is A Ten is wack and he's not gonna sell blah blah blah 50-60k.
The original Mr. Molester himself, Birdman, checks in next with his more than likely trash album 5*Stunna. For some reason he thinks a Blood now or whatever...who really cares, his album is gonna flop, 45-55k.
Beans is back! I got a review for this album coming soon so be on the look out for that. Until then go cop this album because its probably not doing much more than 25k.
Wow, where did this album come from?? I dunno what to say about it since I didn't it was coming out so I'm guessing it'll do about 25-40k.
We all love the Wu-Tang Clan, but lets just be honest for a minute: this project was going nowhere from the start. The fact that they are seemingly at odds with each other only adds fuel to the fire an probably isn't gonna help this album sell (them not having a single isn't helping either). This is really a lost cause, 30-40k.
This is last of course because its gonna flop like hell! I don't see this shit doing anything more than 10k. I guess that's all you can ask for from trash.
So I'm watching MTV tonight and there's this show on about Mario and his mom called I Won't Love You To Death: The Mario Story of Mario and His Mom. On first look, before I heard the title, I thought it was just gonna be some shit like Diary or something, but it turns out that dude's mom is on heroin! I never knew that, and its really crazy to see because when you think about your average singer or rapper you don't think about their parent(s) at home using drugs while they are out working.
One of the craziest things is that this whole documentary is taking place in June over the same time he was prepping his new album and released a video for How Do I Breathe. I don't know how you can concentrate on your job when you know your mom is at home using drugs, but that's their journey. At the same time, what are you gonna do about it? Are you gonna disassociate yourself from your mother? Just tell her to stop? That's your mom, what can you do??
The whole time I just felt bad for the man, but he finally said enough is enough and had an intervention with his mom and had her sent to rehab. Here comes the shocker: before she left for rehab she tells Mario she needs a "fix"...and he actually gives her money! I was like 'what the hell is that?!' Why would you directly support what's tearing yall apart?? I know its hard to say no to the person who raised you, but at some point you have to draw a line. Then she, as any addict would, takes the money and the MTV cameras to her dealer to buy her heroin. After she got her heroin, she actually has the nerve to basically do the shit right in front of Mario's face! I don't know how long she's been using, but she's obviously got it bad.
Anyway, she ends up going to rehab, and now I guess all is well. I still feel bad for him because I have NO idea what I'd do in that situation... hell, I couldn't even imagine having to go through that. Overall, it was a pretty good show, but who knows why MTV was showing it at 10pm on a Sunday night when you can turn on to see Tila Tequila's retarded ass show at pretty much anytime during the day. Its all good though, I'm glad I caught it and I hope, for Mario's sake, that his mom now realizes how much she's fuckin' up.
Here's the trailer for the show that I'm pretty much sure none of you saw because I know I sure as hell didn't lol:
I just wanna say sorry to Mario for announcing the end of his career for doing a song with Soulja Boy last month. If it counts for anything I got the info from Gyant's blog on SoHH.com so blame him lol. Mario, you've just been promoted from Career Over to Album Pushed WAYYY The Fuck Back, congratulations. Anyway, the Mario sounding dude on the Soulja Boy record is some dude named I-15 (what a wack name lmao) and you can check him out on Soulja's new video:
Man, I just feel so bad for this dude because he doesn't seem to have any sense of urgency that his career with be over before the year is out.
Anyway, since we're on the subject of Soulja Boy, I'll give you 2 comments I read that I just HAD to share. The first is from my download site:
Don't Like Snap Music? Don't Listen To It...
I'm tired of seeing these threads created just to bash on artist such as Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris, saying Snap Music isn't real music. And comparing them to Hip-Hop artists such as Nas & Jay-Z. Of course they're lyrically not up to their level, it's two different genres for gods sake. *smh*I just wanna know whats with the bashing? If you don't listen to snap music, how the fuck are you gonna criticize it?on that note, i'd like to say this....
YUUUAAAAAA....CRANK DAT SOULJA BOY !
The person that wrote this is OBVIOUSLY like 12 and more than likely has some sort of learning disorder lol. He probably just learned the word "genre" in his remedial language arts class and was eager to use it somewhere, even if it wasn't really accurate when he said it. If anything, Snap is a sub-genre of the genre Hip-Hop, but seeing that no one has yet to make an entire Snap album, it shouldn't even qualify for that. Besides, even if it was a separate genre, when did that give you a pass to make bad music??
What he should do is stop trying to make excuses for his favorite artists and their pathetically wack "music" just because he has some sort of boy-crush on him. Anyway, this genius goes on to ask why we "bash" the music. Let me give you a hint: IT FUCKIN' SUCKS! What are we supposed to do? Praise this lil nigga for making the worst Hip-Hop album of all-time??? Supporting this dude is just retarded anyway because you know damn well he's not gonna have a career in the music industry. If anything, they should be mad at Interscope for using this child for digital sales and likely dumping him after people stop "crankin' that" (which is will be in about 5-6 minutes).
The part that really kills me is at the end when he says, "If you don't listen to snap music, how the fuck are you gonna criticize it?" Are you serious??? When was the last time you actually had to go out of your way to hear one of these terrible songs?? Put it on BET or turn the radio on and they're right there waiting for you every hour on the hour, so asking why they are criticized by people who, "don't listen to snap," is completely ridiculous since we're FORCED to hear them regardless. Plus, he's saying that like we're missing/overlooking something important within the lyrics lol. Sad.
bamboo says...
Man....all of you hating on soulja boy but i know for a fact that all you fools would trade places with him in a minute...you have all these comments about him, and he doesnt even know you exist......
The ONLY people who want to trade places with Soulja Boy are middle school age boys who already aren't getting any play lol. Personally, I know I wouldn't wanna be that nigga because its gonna be a bitch when reality comes calling, the next hit dance craze is out, the people I thought were my friends and fans turn their back on me, and the only time you hear my name is after the phrase "whatever happened to." Why would I want to give up my life for that??
The part about Soulja not knowing any of his "haters" exist is completely retarded because with their being roughly 6,622,178,532 people on this planet I'm sure he doesn't know most people exist and vice versa.
You know, the saddest part about both of these comments is that I can bet you money neither one of these dudes bought (or is planning to buy) his album.
I know neither one of your singles are poppin', but this is just sad. I mean seriously, is this what it's come to??? Well, don't be sad for Mario he's had a good run and one comeback under his belt, which was obviously enough for him since he thought it'd be a good idea to do this. The worst part is that there will be little teenage girl getting all wet in the coochie over this poor excuse for a slow jam...sad.
Aight well I guess I'll leave you guys with Mario's biggest hit to date, Let Me Love You:
