Celebrate Now, Get Re-Depressed When You Realize You're Still In Cleveland
Now, as odd as this might sound, I'm not mad even mad about this loss. Nope, not at all. This game meant nothing to us and everything to them. Cleveland is probably having a national championship-esque celebration in their dirty streets right now while planning a victory parade for tomorrow.
Of course I would've liked to win, but at the end of the day, we'll be playing in late April and they'll be planning vacations. I mean, this is probably the best night Boobie Gibson has head since he rawed Keyshia Cole for the first time. Dan Gilbert is probably just now leaving the Cavs locker room after taking a dump at LeBron's old locker. I'm just saying.
Anyway, you know who has got to be most pissed about this loss? The Celtics. They've been tirelessly trying to give us the #2 seed and this is how we repay them. Earlier I contemplated writing a new column called "We Don't Believe You" about the Celtics recent "struggles" because I think they're trying to avoid the Knicks in the first round. And even more so than just them trying to avoid them, I think they want us to play them. Not beyond belief.
Look, all I'm saying is don't be shocked if they C's don't show up when we play 2 Sundays from now.

I probably don't need to remind anyone that the Lakers didn't win any championships after these 3 consecutive Christmas Day losses to the Heat.
Now, I'm not saying the Heat are going to win the title, but I am saying that saying, "we loss on Christmas last year and won the championship," is a retarded argument.

Random News Shit: NBA Headlines
No, that's not a typo, Dwight Howard is really suing his BM Royce Reed for five-hundred million, five-hundred thousand dollars. I know "Basketball Wives" was successful, but I'm almost positive she ain't got it. Hell, Dwight Howard doesn't even have that kinda money himself lol.
Lil Duval was joking about it earlier on Twitter because that truly is an odd number to ask for. I'm not mad at him for suing her, but $500,500,000 might be a tad excessive. Besides, suing for such an outrageous number isn't exactly the best way to get your name out of the news for non-basketball related issues.
(Side note: Can we finally change "Basketball Wives" to "Basketball Baby Mommas" (or "Basketball BMs" for short) once and for all and be done with it?? We all know that only one of the broads is even married, and her husband doesn't even play anymore. I think it's time.)
2) Rockets Limit Yao Ming To 24 Minutes A Game
Poor Yao. Maybe it's time for him to call it a career? I mean, it's not like he's gonna get any smaller, so his foot problems aren't going anywhere whether he plays 24 minutes per game or 40. And it's not like he's an old man either, he just turned 30 on Sunday. I say get those retirement papers ready.
3) Heat Take Their Talents To Fort Walton Beach
From September 28th through October 3rd the new Miami Heat will kick off training camp in Fort Walton Beach, Florida oppose to South Beach, Florida. Honestly, I don't give a shit where the practice, I just can't wait to see them play! I'm absolutely giddy for the 2010-11 NBA season. In fact, I might have to make a trip to Miami to watch their first preseason game again Detroit on October 5th. Anyone wanna drive me??

1) Ryan Howard Quickest To 200 HRs
With his 200th homer, Ryan Howard broke someone named Ralph Kiner's previous record in 48 fewer games. It took Kiner, who played in the 40s and 50s (and yes, he's still alive), 706 games to reach 200, while it took Howard just 658. Remarkable. (Not really, but it seemed like a nice thing to say lol.)
2) Riley Interested In Bringing Odom Back To South Beach
Odom has already stated that he only wants to live on the beach, basically saying he'd only be willing to play for the Lakers, Clippers, or Heat (ironically the only 3 teams he's ever played pro ball for) so there's a possibility of this becoming a reality. The problem is the Heat most likely can't afford to pay him much more than the Lakers. But there's no doubt this would be interesting if it really happened. Before being traded for Shaq in 2004, Odom had one of his best seasons in his lone year in a Heat uniform averaging 17 and 10 a game.
3) Wade Ditches Converse For Jordan Brand
Who knows why Wade even signed with Converse in the first play. He was a top 5 draft pick in one of the deepest tracks in NBA history, he couldn't get some of that Nike money?? Well he'll be getting it now that he's decided to signed with Nike's Jordan Brand (why couldn't he just signed with Nike and get his own campaign like LeBron and Kobe??) who interestingly enough owns Converse. Welp we'll see how this shoe turns out.
4) Antoine Walker Arrested In Debt Case
This is just sad. I know you heard the reports about him owing $822,500 in gambling debts in Las Vegas, well the former NBA All-Star was arrested Thursday after a warrant had been issued 2 days before. I don't even know how to feel though because 'Toine made well over $100 million while playing in the NBA, he couldn't have possibly blew through all the cash! Or could he?? Either way, this is just sad.
Possibly even sadder is the fact that he's only 32 with no real injury history and is no longer in the league! That's crazy!
5) Travis Henry Gets 3 Years In Prison
Speaking of sad, former Bronco running back Travis Henry has been sentenced to serve 3 years in a federal prison for financing a drug ring that moved cocaine between Colorado and Montana. Matter of fact, this isn't even sad, its fuckin' tragic! All those kids will be without a father and when he gets out he'll probably be right back in because there's no way he's gonna play in the NFL again so he'll have no way to pay all that child support.
We all make mistakes but this nigga here?? Maaaan!

Random News Shit: NBA Free Agency Edition Pt. II
In all the time I've been a fan of the NBA, I don't think I'd ever heard of a situation like this where two players swap teams on the same day and are not involved in a trade. Free agents can't officially sign with a team until July 8th, but Ron Artest's deal will be 3 years and worth about $18 million while Trevor Ariza's will be... exactly the same thing! This is getting freaky lol.
Anyway, though Ron Artest has the bigger name, I'm not sure who got that better of this arrangement?? I mean both Artest and Ariza are great defenders who are capable of knocking down threes when needed. The only difference is that Ariza won't be getting all those open looks like he did when he played with Kobe.
How about the Lakers now though?? Kobe, Pau, Odom, and Artest?? If they can get some better play out of Jordan Farmar I think you can pretty much pen L.A. in as the favorites to be the champs again next season. And just in case you were wondering, yes my "09 Ariza = 08 Posey, 09 Lakers = 08 Celtics" theory from yesterday has officially been tossed in the trash can. Had to be done.
2) Shaq Introduced In Cleveland
Shaq said that he wants to "win a ring for the King" in his introductory press conference. I'm not so sure how that's gonna go with Ron Artest now a Laker, but it should get interesting. The Magic really let the LeBrons off the hook by most likely letting Hedo walk in exchange for Vince Carter, but who knows.
Oh yeah, Shaq also made an appearance on PTI today and Michael Wilbon offered some new Cleveland nicknames and the one Shaq liked the best was "The Big Witness Protection." I must say, I really like that one too and I think its all but settled at this point.
3) Riley Contacts Iverson About Joining Heat??
Now this is according to "insiders" so don't take it as fact, but if there's any truth to it Pat Riley is on one. Don't get me wrong, I love Allen Iverson, but he isn't what the Heat need at all. The Heat don't need another scoring guard, they need some consistent big men. Plus, where is he gonna play?? Are they gonna stunt Mario Chalmers' growth and put him on the bench?? You KNOW Iverson isn't coming off the bench. This is just a bad idea if you ask me. I'd much rather hear about the Heat trying to pursue Iverson's team mate last year Rasheed Wallace. Speaking of 'Sheed...
4) Celtics Bring Out Big Guns To Woo Wallace

Damn! The Heat need to do the same thing, but instead of coaches and team execs they should bring along the Miami Caliente. If you don't know who the Miami Caliente's are, they're Miami's team in the Lingerie Football League! More on them later, but I think that would definitely do the trick.

I think if Wade can give them anything and M. Beasley can score about 25, the Heat have a good shot at taking the series back to Miami up 3-2.

Wade's 55 Againt Knicks A New Career High
In addition to the career high in points, he also set a career high in 3's made with 6 while bringing down 9 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists. Yeah it was against the Knicks, but still quite amazing and now at least the Heat can rest until the playoffs start Saturday (they're gonna need it with all the injuries they have right now).
I also wanna show some love to Heat rookie Michael Beasley who added 28 points and 16 boards in his 2nd consecutive start (he had 23 and 13 in his first). Kinda makes you wonder why he's been coming off the bench for majority of the season.

Heat Retire Zo's No. 33
I got to see a lot of this nearly 30 minute ceremony last night and it was actually quite moving. I still gotta wonder why they did it when the Heat played the Magic since it was clear they'd most likely lose the game (April 12th against the Knicks at the triple-A is just sitting there open). All in all, I still enjoyed it and I'm glad to see it happen. Its good to have a Heat player retired for the organization and not just Michael Jordan and Dan Marino lol.
(On a side note, I gotta wonder how Will Hatcher feels about this because we know he doesn't like Zo as evident by this video titled "Fuck Alonzo Mourning!!" I gotta remember to ask Andy to ask him his feelings about this lol.)

King Of The Night
Man, if you don't live down here in South Florida you're really missing out on some great basketball by Dwyane Wade. As you can see from the video above, D-Wade came through again for his team with a steal and 3-point runner as time expired in double-OT! He needed this play to make up for those 2 free throws he missed in the first overtime that could've put the game away for the Heat...excuse me, "El Heat" (BTW, why weren't the Bulls wearing their "Los Bulls" jerseys?? Fucked up lol). Wade finished the game with 48 points, 12 assists, 6 boards, and 4 steals.
In other Dwyane Wade news, he and Deron Williams were named the NBA players of the week for last week. Wade averaged a crazy 35.8 and 11.3 assists a game while Deron averaged 25.3 and 11.3. The big difference here is that Deron's Jazz went 3-0 over that span while the Heat went just 2-2. This year's Heat remind me of those Lakers teams a few years back when Shaq first left and we know where they are now.

Heat Top Suns In Shaq's Return To South Beach
No happy ending for Shaq and the Suns as D-Wade and the Heat take them down 135-129. Wade had another incredible game and poured in 35 points, 16 assists, and 6 boards while Shaq put up 22 and 8.
It was another good game by Miami, but the big difference between this win and the loss to the Cavs Monday was the help Wade got tonight. Michael Beasley hit 28 and Daequan Cook hit 27, career highs for both. That's 55 points combined! Beasley also chipped in 9 rebounds and reigning 3-point champ Cook went 6-8 for three. If the Heat could get this kinda of effort off the bench on a nightly basis they'd be a real problem come playoff time.

Epic Battle Between LeBron & D-Wade
Man, if you don't live in South Florida or Cleveland or have satellite then damn, you missed a good one! Dwyane Wade and LeBron James went at it for 48 minutes last night and in the end LeBron and the Cavs took the game 107-100.
LeBron had 42 points (6-7 from three, 10-10 from the line), 8 rebounds, and 4 assists while D-Wade put up 41 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists, and 7 steals (another career high). Crazy! The big difference though was Mo Williams who had 30, 7, and 7 scored 17 in the final period to help bring the Cavs back from down 11. Wade had really no help down the stretch.
Anyway, luckily for us, we get to see this match up again in a few days when the Heat and Cavs face off again in Cleveland Saturday. Can't wait!

NBA Bans The Band
You might have noticed Dwyane Wade wearing a band-aid on his face during All-Star weekend and in a few games that followed, but that was because he had stitches on his face. Now that is has become some what of a fashion trend, the NBA has decided to ban it. Soooo gay!
This is just like David Stern's square ass. Anytime something becomes cool, he wants to change the shit. The damn band-aids say "Wade" on them, what's wrong with that?? I could see if they said weird stuff like "David Stern is gay" or something like that, but they don't. Sad.

Heat To Retire Zo's #33 Jersey
Finally the Miami Heat franchise will retire a jersey number that was actually worn by one of their own (true story, the only 2 jersey numbers retired in Heat history are Michael Jordan's and Dan Marino's). On March 30th, the Heat will officially retire Zo's #33 and rightfully so. Zo definitely deserves it, I don't care what Will Hatchers says lol.
Anyway, the Heat should go ahead and reserve a spot next to Zo for D-Wade's #3 jersey after tonight's performance in the Heat's 120-115 win. Wade had 46 points, 10 assists, 8 boards, 4 steals, and 3 blocks! Oh, and 24 of those 46 came in the fourth after the Knicks busted Wade's lip on a fucked up no call. Don't tug on Superman's cape.
