Cowboys Cut Roy Williams & Others
Sadly, Roy wasn't the only Cowboy to visit Valley Ranch for the final time today, Marion Barber, Leonard Davis, and Kris Brown were also told not to report to training camp in San Antonio tomorrow because they were being released.
I'm gonna miss the Barberian and his reckless running style, but I know we're gonna be fine with Felix Jones and Tashard Choice. I'll also miss big Leonard Davis. He had a bad year last year (including getting benched against Tennessee), but I'm not sure we have anybody to replace him with. Strangely, even though there's no replacement for him as of yet (and please don't say Montrae Holland because he's only 2 years younger, injury prone, and a whole lot worse), the move still makes sense because we actually save more money by cutting Davis ($6 million), than we did by cutting Roy ($5 million) or Barber ($4.7 million).
Going back to Roy, it'll be fun to see how the 2011 Cowboys WRs corps will be now that we aren't financially forced to start an underachiever. We know Miles Austin and Dez Bryant will be the starter, but we don't know who 3-5 will be. The obvious choice would be to bump up Kevin Olgetree, Sam Hurd, and Jesse Holley, but I wonder what the possibility would be of bringing back Patrick Crayton? I know it's unlikely (unless he's cut from the Chargers), just putting it out there. Either way, I hope we give Sam Hurd a real shot this year because he never really got it in the past.

Patrick Crayton Traded To The Chargers
The Cowboys will regret this. I have no facts to back that up, but this just feels wrong. Oh well, good for Pat, at least they sent him to a good team that lacks receivers and resides in a crappy division.

Random News Shit: SportsCenter Edition
This is no surprise, everybody expected this to be the decision that came down since we found out Ben was gonna meet with Roger Goodell today.
Big Ben's returns will come October 17th against the lowly Cleveland Browns, so that should be a nice welcome back victory. For Steelers fans, hopefully they'll be 2-2 by the time he's back, but with the Falcons, Titans, and Ravens on the schedule, there's a strong possibility they'll be 1-3. Especially now that we know Byron Leftwich is gonna be out for at least the first game with a MCL sprain and the Steelers will be forced to rely on either Dennis Dixon or Charlie Batch.
2) Manny Ramirez To Cut Hair Today
Also happening today, Manny Ramirez is expected to cut his hair. Chicago is allegedly flying in Manny's barber from Boston to do the job, but I'll believe it when I see it.
3) Agent Wants Crayton Released From Cowboys
As a Cowboy fan, this whole Patrick Crayton situation pisses me the fuck off. Forget Crayton's agent asking for a release again, the fact that the Cowboys would even consider letting him go when we have to cut our rosters down to 53 players tomorrow is what bothers me. Yeah he's a trusted veteran and all that jazz, but besides that, who's to say Dez Bryant and Miles Austin are going to be healthy for 16 games?? What if one gets hurt?? What if both get hurt?? I'm sold that Dez and Miles are great players, but I'm not sold on their durability. I know Miles stayed healthy in 2009, but before that break out season, he was known to be injury prone. Hell, he was even hurt for a good portion of training camp. And in addition to my concerns with Dez and Miles, Roy Williams' big garbage ass is hurt right now too.
Look, I could go on and on, but the bottom line is this: on top of it being fucked up to keep PC for camp and then dump him at the end, we need this guy on our team! We'll see what happens tomorrow when cuts are made.
4) LenDale White Out For The Season
Tough off season for LenDale, first he's traded by the Titans, then cut by his former college coach, and now he'll miss the entire 2010 season with a torn Achilles tendon. To be fair though, this injury could be due to his falling out of grace with God after his contribution to Tim Tebow's friar haircut. Just putting it out there.

Sam Hurd Making A Push For The #3 WR Spot??
That's a great thing because I've also been hearing that Roy Williams really isn't looking like a #1 WR right now. He and Romo STILL aren't on the same page and Patrick Crayton and Hurd look like the class of the receiving corp. So maybe he's moving past Miles Austin for the #3 receiver spot?? We shall see!
I'm optimistic on how this is all good turn out, but I'm just hoping Hurd and Austin can stay on the field this season so they can live up to all their potential. Watch out for my Cowboys!

Patrick Crayton First Take Interview
I miss the audio of this because I had to go to work yesterday, but I'm sure my boy PC had some good stuff to say.

You Knew They'd Make This Up Eventually
Today on the 6pm SportsCenter this started off with a whole big elaborate story about alleged "friction" between T.O. and Romo. Ed Werder says T.O. is jealous of Romo and Witten's relationship and thinks they make up plays together or some shit like that. Oh goodness here we go. Werder also cites T.O., Roy Williams, and Patrick Crayton's "secret meeting" Monday with Jason Garrett as reason to believe this is the real thing, but I just think its mostly media hype.
Now, I'm not saying there is or isn't problem is their relationship, but you KNOW this is gonna get blown all out of proportions just like every T.O. story is. ESPN has been waiting to run this story line all year, I guess today was just a slow news day lol.
Welp, the only cure for this, soon to be full-swing, media circus is a win Sunday against the Giants. If we can pull out the W all will be well and this story will die, but if we lose all hell is gonna break lose. Can't wait to hear what Skip Bayless has to say about this tomorrow morning on 1 & 10! I hope they have someone like Stephen A. Smith or Rob Parker to debate with him about it.

Another Cowboy Gets Paid
You see him up there?? That's Patrick Crayton. He's been the Dallas Cowboy's #2 receiver all year and right now he's running to the bank! P. Cray just got a 4-year extension worth $14 million to stay with the team so he has a lot to be happy about right now. What a great Christmas present! That Jerry Jones is something else lol.
