Thursday Billboard Update - 8/18/11

No big surprise here as Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch The Throne sales 436,079 and coasts to #1. About 321,000 of those were downloads since the physical album didn't hit stores until Friday August 12th and Soundscan stops collecting sales week data on Saturdays, so I don't expect a huge week 2 drop off for the Roc Boys. Checking in at #8 is Ace Hood's third album Blood, Sweat & Tears with 26,300 copies sold. And while that may sound bleak on the surface, this is the highest he's ever debuted and the most he's ever sold in one week.

Big news over on the Hot 100 as Katy Perry's Last Friday Night finally makes it to #1, dethroning LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem after 6 weeks on top. Last Friday Night is Katy's 5th #1 single, tying her with Michael Jackson for most #1 singles off one album in Hot 100 history. Also, Maroon 5's Moves Like Jagger shoots up the top 10 8-3.

Thursday Billboard Update - 3/31/11

Chris Brown's F.A.M.E. didn't reach the 1 million sold plateau he was hoping for, but it does reach #1, selling 271,000 copies first week. While Chrisqo has had an album that's sold more first week, this is his first career #1. Coming in at #2 is Jennifer Hudson's I Remember Me with 165,100 sold. Kirk Franklin's Hello Fear debuts at #5 with a robust 78,800 sold. Last, but not least, Bobby V's (I'm assuming he's officially dropped the Valentino?) Fly On The Wall at #9 with 37,600 sold.

Over on the Hot 100, we have a new #1 and its Katy Perry's E.T. featuring Kanye West. The top debut this week is Wiz Khalifa's No Sleep blasting off at #6. And sadly Bruno Mars' Grenade finally exits the top 10 this week. But look on the bright side, maybe this will finally put an end to people making the fucked out jokes about not being willing to catch a grenade for anyone.

This Week In Flops 3/22/11

Busy week and first up we have Chris Brown's 2nd album post-Rihanna beat down, F.A.M.E. Earlier today Chrisqo had a meltdown of sorts at Good Morning America after being asked some light questions about Rihanna. Verdict: publicity stunt. You mean to tell me this nigga couldn't keep his cool after being asked some simple questions about his legal situation? I don't buy it.

Everybody who wasn't gonna buy the album really isn't now, but his fans that were on the fence probably will now because they're gonna allow themselves to be brainwash into think Chrisqo is being picked on. He effectively rallied the base, I can't be mad at that. It should be a good week for him because of this, so I'm guess he does between 150-200k first week.

Next up is Jennifer Hudson's I Remember Me. I can't lie, I don't know much about this album, but I still think it's gonna be good for at least 80,000. I'm gonna go with 80-110k.

Pharoahe Monch's last album did about 12,000 first week in 2007, and I think W.A.R. will do about the same. I'm guessing 8-15k for Pharoahe.

I have no idea if this is an album or a mixtape, but there's a video out, so I'm just gonna treat it like am album. Whatever, no one cares, 5-15k.

Just look at the retardation in his eyes, and the permanent symbol of his condition on his face. He has an ice cream cone, with blue ice cream scoops on it, red lightning bolts shooting out of it, and "Brrr" written across it...on his face! Forever! If that doesn't make you want to donate, I don't know what will.

Don't you feel sorry for Gucci Ice Cream Mane?? His life is clearly barreling out of control. This is like a fucked up, Hip-Hop version of what lead Mike Tyson to get a tattoo on his face, only instead of being at the top of his profession, Ice Cream is at the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, the only way this tattoo could've been more retarded is if the ice cream cone was upside down.

Where is this Mane's friends?? Where is this Mane's family?? As far as I'm concerned, this is a cry for help more so than evidence of his mental challenged-ness. I mean, we already knew he was retarded, but who knew he was crazy too? That's like a cherry on the top of a shitty life sundae, or in this case, ice cream cone.

Well, hopefully somebody gets this Mane some help. And also, hopefully that same person makes sure every studio in the state of Georgia gets a restraining order against him stating that he can't step within 50 feet of one or he'll be arrested. It'd only be right.

This Week In Flops 12/8/09

Okay, 181,400 is what Rihanna's Rated R sold last week, so that's Chris Brown's sales ceiling. (Trust me, there's NO chance that he even comes close to that figure, let alone pass it.) The bottom line is the interest just isn't there for Chris and it doesn't help that I've heard nothing but bad reviews since the album leaked. He should still debut in the top 10 selling somewhere between 90-120k.

I listened to Snoop's album over the weekend and I was extremely disappointed World Of A Gangsta and Protocol didn't make the cut. I mean its not like they ran out of space, there's only 14 tracks and 2 of them were the intro and outro. Oh, and one was an absolutely ear torturing song called Pronto with Soulja Boy. That shit is SOOOOOO bad! You telling me the album needed that, but couldn't use those 2 bangers mentioned above?? For that reason I probably won't buy the album, but I'm sure it'll fall in the 80-110k range.

In April of '07, when the first Shock Value dropped, it debuted at #5 and sold 138,000, and that was on the heels of super single Give It To Me with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. That huge #1 hit single doesn't exist these time around some we might see Timmy sitting on the outside of the top 10 next week. I'll say 60-90k.

Welp, I guess its time to see how hot Gucci Mane really is to everyone. He's destroyed numerous songs with his shitty features, but he is allegedly in high demand. Realistically, with the way everybody has pretended to be on his dick, he should do Susan Boyle numbers.

..But he won't. I'll give him 45-85k.

I haven't listened to the album yet, but I'm sure its good. Its a damn shame nobody knows its dropping though. I mean, I didn't even know until I saw it leak last week. Damn shame, 20-50k

Judging by Juvenile's album's perormance (#43, 23,100 sold), I'm gonna guess B.G. does somewhere in the range of 10-20.

1) Gucci Mane Sentenced To A Year In Prison
This just seems so random to me. I didn't even know he was going to court or anything. I guess the judge wasn't a fan either lol.

Anyway, I saw an ad the other day that said Gucci Mane's new album was dropping "DecemBURRR 8th," and I'm wondering if that's still gonna stand with his new situation?? I'm sure it will since radio will now probably act like that bullshit song he has with Usher is hot and start playing it in his "honor." I'm also sure the Hip-Hop community is gonna rally around him and act like they actually like him, but oh well that's just how shit goes these days. The game is more politics than truth.

2) 'This Is It' Grosses Over $200 Million Worldwide In 2 Weeks
No one should be surprised by this. Still feels kinda dirty to me, but whatever.

I was wondering why they changed the header on their website over the summer, but now we know. Gucci Mane - Spotlight (feat. Usher) Video

This will shock no one, but I didn't even bother watching the whole video. The song is still dreadful and Gucci Mane pulling somebody as pretty as that chick was just too unrealistic. I mean really?? I know Gucci is allegedly hot right now, but there's no way he's getting anything better than those chick from Plies' Bust It Baby reality show casting call. I'm just saying lol.

Thursday Billboard Update - 11/5/09

Michael Jackson returns to his rightful spot atop the Billboard 200 as the soundtrack to This Is It sells 373,800. No surprises there, its Mike. Some other shit debuted this week as well, but you won't care about them. Wanna know how I know that?? Because I don't care about them. You're welcome.

The top of the Hot 100 remains influx as we get yet another new #1. Jason Rulo grabs his first #1 with Whatcha Say (2-1), knocking last week's #1, Owl City's Fireflies down to #2. Returning to the top 10 is Jay-Z's Empire State of Mind at #3. The track saw a major boost in sales after Hov and Alicia Keys' performance at the new Yankees Stadium before game 2 of the World Series last week. Hot also saw this week's top 2 debuts land at numbers 9 and 10. Lady GaGa's Bad Romance takes over at #9 and Taylor Swift's Jump Then Fall is at #10.
