Thursday Billboard Update - 10/18/12

Shockingly debuting at #2 is Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' The Heist with 78,500 copies sold. Amazing, especially considering they are independent. Good job by them. Coming in at #4 is Machine Gun Kelly's debut album Lace Up with 50,700 copies sold. That's about what I expected, but a tad embarrassing considering an independent artist sold more. Then again, he didn't get much push from Bad Boy outside of a few tweets from Diddy.

Maroon 5 denies Psy again! I guess people really don't want to see Psy performed Gangnam Style topless like he said he would if the song went #1.

Crazed Fans Jump On Stage With DMX

Damn, first buddy got yoked up before he could get a good 2 feet on stage. I also love how "rolled up sleeves because I mean business" security guy threw the last dude off the side of the stage Uncle Phil-style. That shit was pretty darn ill if you ask me.

This really has nothing to do with anything, I just thought it was a cool video. If I'm Nike, Reebok, or Adidas I'm signing this kid, licensing a MGK song, and starting a national Lace Up campaign.

MGK - Wild Boy (feat. Waka Flocka Flame) Video

I'm not sure what purpose Katt Williams served in this video, but I loved it anyway. I don't know if Waka bust old dude over the head with a bottle for comedic effect but that surely didn't stop me from busting out in laughter like he did. It also hyped up the song even more, so kudos to whoever came up with that idea.

Sad day for Machine Gun Kelly fans and the whole state of Ohio as news has broken that MGK signed with Bad Boy. I don't even need to go into detail about why signing with Bad Boy is career suicide, but before we go any further can we take a moment of silence for Kelly?

Look, I love Puff and Machine Gun Kelly seems to be cool too (well besides the extra tight pants), but he HAS to know this was the wrong move for him career. I don't care if you're 50 Cent in 2002 hot, this is NEVER the right move to make. I mean, I know it's probably exciting to be wanted, but signing with Bad Boy is a steep price to pay. Craig Mack's facial expression in this video says it all.

It's funny this is happening too because in this new 10 Commandments YouTube series I'm working on "Thou shall not sign with Bad Boy" was pretty high up on the Local Rapper Commandments list. Oh well, I hope MGK the best and hopefully he'll defy all odds, but don't be shocked if he ends up like so many other Bad Boys before him.
