Thursday Billboard Update - 12/23/10

Speak Now
Taylor Swift's Speak Now overtakes Susan Boyle's The Gift for #1, but blah blah blah. "Michael Jackson's" Michael debuts at #3 with 228,200 sold. R. Kelly's Love Letter debuts at #6 with 154,300. What can you say, the man has a real fan base. Dirty Money's Last Train To Paris exceeded expectations of 65,000 and sold 100,900. (Let the records show I was WAY closer with my prediction for the album. I guess that's why I'm the Industry Prognosticator and they aren't.)

Katy Perry's Firework is still #1, but it's becoming increasingly obvious that Bruno Mars' Grenade will finish the year out at #1, as it inches into the #2 spot this week. The biggest news on the Hot 100 this week is Lil Wayne bursting into the top 10 at #9 with his first post-prison single 6 Foot 7 Foot with Cory Gunz. It'll be interesting to see where it goes from here.

The Billboard 200 1-10
first week debuts in bold

1. Taylor Swift - Speak Now (2-1)
2. Susan Boyle - The Gift (1-2)

This Week In Flops 12/14/10

Before I start, I want to remind everyone that a Michael Jackson album called Michael also dropped this week. I would've included it in today's proceedings, but I felt uncomfortable with putting the King Of Pop under the title "flop."

Aight, we have a lot of albums to get through again, so I'm gonna make these short and sweet.

Dirty Money
First up, the Last Train To Paris. If you're one of Diddy's 3,121,625 followers on Twitter, you're well aware this album is now in stores. Hopefully it's not all for nothing like Soulja Boy and his 2 million-plus followers last week. For Last Train To Paris, I'll say 115-140k.

R. Kelly
All I've been hearing is good things about this R. Kelly album. I guess he's done making foolish tracks like Real Talk, and got back to the real shit that made him who he is. Is all the acclaim coming too late to sway his first week numbers?? Possibly, but he's the R, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say 80-110k.

Ciara
Ciara is still the sexiest chick with no body in the world, and I'd still pick her #1 overall in the Sex Draft, but I'm not sure anybody is checking for this album. I hope they are because I like her, but I just don't feel it or see it. I'm gonna say it falls in the 30-60.

Tank
Good ol' Tank is back at them again, and I think he's good for 30-60k.

Kandi
I don't know much about this project, but a lot of people watch that show she's on, so I'll say 20-45.

Sheek Louch
Donnie! Def Jam let's another one go under the radar, I'll say 10-25k.

The R. Kelly Syndrome

NEW YORK - JULY 18: Singer Lil' Kim attends the Mandela Day: A 46664 Celebration Concert at Radio City Music Hall on July 18, 2009 in New York City.
I really don't like posting tracks with tags on them, but I wanted to introduce "R. Kelly Syndrome" to the world, so it's necessary. Bear with me.

After hearing the song above, some of you might have already guessed what R. Kelly Syndrome is, but if you haven't, don't feel bad, that's why I'm here.

R. Kelly Syndrome (or RKS) is when an older artist is so desperate to stay relevant they start following the trends/styles of newer artists, who followed them coming up, instead of being creative on their own. This syndrome derives from when R. Kelly, one of the greatest and most decorated R&B singers of all-time, started riding the coattail of T-Pain and began using auto-tune. The sound was around for the entire 1990s, in which Kelly dominated, but he didn't see fit to use it until T-Pain re-popularized it? Nope, you can't get away with that on FiyahMuZik.com, what do I look like, the judge on your child pornography case? I hold people accountable for their musical actions, so Kellz gets to be the face of this syndrome.

Anyway, Lil Kim is now suffering from RKS because even though Nicki Minaj wants to be Lil Kim, Lil Kim now wants to be Nicki Minaj. You can hear it in her voice, her delivery, the lyrics, this record has Nicki Minaj written all over it.

Now, some of you may be thinking "Lil Kim doesn't write her own lyrics, its not her fault." I can see how some would think that, but at the end of the day, Kim has the final say on which songs and verses she wants to record (whether she wrote the lyrics or not), therefore she was a willing participant.

Its just all so sad, the Queen Bee has been reduced to a worker bee. I wonder who's next?

R. Kelly - Pregnant (feat. Tyrese, Robin Thicke, & The-Dream)

Just make sure she's 18 before you get her pregnant Kellz

The count down is on for Somebody's Gonna Get Pregnant Day so the last song I'm gonna post is the new official song of SGGP, Pregnant by R. Kelly, Tyrese, Robin Thicke, and The-Dream. On the surface this song is terribly irresponsible because there will be plenty teens that'll hear this and think its cool to get pregnant. It really isn't cool or cute unless you're in a stable relationship and don't have piles of bills to worry about.... or homework lol.

To be fair though, you can't really blame R. Kelly for these hoin' ass young girls these days because they'd still be getting knocked up regardless.

Random News Shit

LONDON - OCTOBER 7: Lil' Wayne performs at Hammersmith Apollo on October 7, 2009 in London, England.
1) Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty To Gun Charge, Gets 1 Year In Prison
Man, I bet he's really regretting the decision to kiss Baby in the mouth now. Well hopefully he won't be in there calling anybody else daddy. How often will Baby be allowed to come in for conjugal visits?? Will the state provide the KY Jelly or is it a B.Y.O.KY kinda thing?? If Wayne becomes a real life version of the chick in his song Kisha, is that considered copyright infringement?? If T-Pain comes to visit, will they auto-tune the phones connected to the glass?? Will Wayne steal the idea and auto-tune his first?? Does this mean The Rebirth is gonna be pushed back again?? Does this mean Cash Money/Young Money will be forced to let one of their other artists actually drop an album?? Do we need anymore proof the Tiny & Toya show was cursed??

Okay, I think that's enough. Just wanted to get all the bad jokes out the way now lol.

2) ESPN's Steve Phillips Admits To Sex Sandal, Takes Leave
This just goes to show that it don't matter who you are, or what you do, niggas still cheat lol. Its the sad truth, I know, I know.

This shit was wild though! This was about to be Steve McNair part 2 around this bitch. I wouldn't put it past her still.

Oh, and did you see the regular ass bitch he cheated with?? If I was ESPN, I'd fire his ass for cheating with somebody looking like that! C'mon son! Its no wonder she is went crazy, she probably never had dick before lol. At least be like Rick Pitino and make ruining your family worth while with somebody fine. I mean, I never saw his wife, but she's GOT to look better than this chick.

Anyway, check out the 911 call Phillips's wife made when Ug showed up at their crib.

3) R. Kelly To Release Untitled Album Dec. 1st
Can you believe this is only R. Kelly's 10th studio album?? I'll be interested to hear how this sounds and I'm praying for another classic like Real Talk lol.

4) Birdman Think Lil Wayne Should've Been #1
I'm not mad at his opinion, he's supposed to think Wayne should've been #1. Its like being a football player on an average or crappy team and being asked if you're gonna make the playoffs, of course you're gonna say yes. The problem I have his him talking about doing the most and having the most. Come on nigga, you know damn well Wayne is NOT making the kinda money Jay-Z is making. There's really nothing more to argue or say, he's just not. End of story.

5) Trick Daddy Wants To Hook Back Up With Trina
Seems like an easy thing to be done, right?? I know Trick left Slip N Slide and all, but he should be able to just call her up. I mean he's probably gonna have to write her verse anyway so it shouldn't be a problem.

(Emphasis on all the "shoulds" and "shouldn'ts" in there.)

6) The Trade Jerry Jones Turned Down Was For TE Bennett
The other day, Jerry Jones admitted that he turned down a major deal at the trade deadline, but didn't want to mention who is was, what it was for, or the other team that was involved. Now their are reports out that it was the Bengals who wanted to make a deal, and Martellus Bennett was the man they wanted.

The ESPN report says this is what "sources" told them, but that probably just means Calvin Watkins (who wrote the story) follow Martellus on Twitter because he's really the one who announced it to the world this morning.

Thank goodness Jerry didn't pull the trigger, I like Marty B. His numbers aren't flashy, but he is a big part of the reason are rushing numbers look so good. Besides, he doesn't get the ball thrown his way often anyway and its hard to get stats without getting the ball. Smart move by Jerry. Now if only he had this will power last year when he was offered that bullshit Roy Williams trade.

Baby Making Season Approaches...

Thicke
Not all this will be baby making R&B, but I just felt like posting some new R&B so lets go!

What they know about my dude Thicke?! This shit is HOT! The beat was probably just a little too loud in this version, but I still love it anyway. Its just about pregnancy season so hopefully there's a full-length album coming to go with this track. I think I'm gonna have to go find my Evolution Of Robin Thicke CD to jam on the way to work today.

Damn I love these soul singers from the UK! Amy, Adele, Joss, Duffy, these girls are BAD! Young black girls trying to be R&B singers you are all on notice, step your game up! These UK chicks are bringing more soul to the table and we invented this shit.

Anyway, this song is stupid hot! How hot, you may be asking? So hot that I wouldn't even mind if Nas' verse was left off! Now that's hot!

The skycap concept was a bit of a stretch, but I love the vibe of this song. This might be a monster once it gets mixed down and everything. Timbo could've not said anything on the track, but I didn't mind it that much so its all good.

So there is still a real artist inside of R. Kelly somewhere. Hearing Kellz making a joint like this is refreshing because I was getting tired of him riding T-Pain and The-Dream's coattail like he wasn't that nigga in the R&B for a solid decade. Its not quite Chocolate Factory shit yet, but he's getting warmer. We really need him to get back in the studio and finish that song Baby Girl with Pharrell if he hasn't already!

Another song about Rihanna?? He only about 3 or 4 leaked songs into a comeback and half them shits either been about Rihanna or can be interpreted to be about Rihanna. I think he might be in the "Puff Daddy after he loss J. Lo" zone right now so maybe we should just prepare ourselves for more songs of this ilk.

Whatever, this nigga still has a terrible singing voice to me either.

Now I very well could've heard it wrong, but a little after 2 minutes in, did T-Pain say he was in booty dance contests in 1994 and the crowd cheered him on??

Here's the lyric:

"I wish, we could go, back to 1994! With the booty dance-offs, all on the boulevard. And they be like, 'Go T-Pain, do your G thang'..."

Again, I could be totally wrong, but that sounds like what he said to me lol.

Nigga this shit is terrible lol. Hoodies were hot in like were 2006-2007, its 2009 and damn near 2010! Its too soon to try to bring them back. Making this wack ass song ain't gonna help the cause either lol.

R. Kelly - Number One (feat. Keri Hilson) Video

First off, Kellz, lose that damn ugly ass fade. I don't know if its just because we're not used to seeing him with a fade (he always had braids, a 'fro, or was bald) or because it was just a bad fade but I thought he was Mike Jones when they video started. And am I the only one that gets kinda annoyed when Keri Hilson does the whole "Ms. Keri babe-bay" thing?? I mean it was cute at first, but now I'm kinda sick of hearing it. On another Keri note though, she might have the nicest small breasts in the history of titties!

I'm not even gonna get on the wardrobe in the video so as far as the music goes, I like this song and I've said it before. I think this is a good comeback record for Kellz, but whether it'll actually work or not is still yet to be determined. I can't say I'm rooting for him that hard (pause), but I'm definitely not rooting against him...just his fade.

Anyway, Untitled will be in stores October 13th. I'll leave you with a little behind the scenes:

R. Keri?? Hmm, I think I like it. No, wait, yep, I do! And upon further review, that isn't just a fade R. Kelly has, its like a fade/mohawk hybrid. Dare I call it a fahawk?? Fahawk it, either way the shit looks mad weird.

R. Kelly - Hatin' On Him

At the age of 42 R. Kelly is waaay too old to be singing this song. Its okay that he wrote it, but he couldn't pass it down to one of his young boys to sing??

Well the good news is that it isn't just a terrible song like some of the other shit he's been dropping recently. Baby steps I guess.

MUCH better than that first version of this song that I posted back in August. I never got past a few seconds into Keri's verse so I don't know if that was a reference track or what but it sounded horrible. Fuck this though, Kellz needs to finish that Baby Girl that I posted with the original version/reference track of Number One. Now THAT was a hot song!

Trey Songz - D.O.K. (Death Of Kellz)

Check out ya boy Trey Songz going in on the legend R. Kelly over Jay-Z's D.O.A.:

Thank you! I love it! I'm so glad somebody called R. Kelly's ass out for his bullshit. The man is a fuckin' R&B legend, he can think of melodies in his sleep, why is he using auto-tune?? The young cats should be dick riding him, not the other way around. I mean its one thing that he likes the kiddies, but come on Kellz you're better than this. Musically that is, you're better than this musically.

Props to Trey Songz! He ripped this and it really needed to be said.

R. Kelly - Supaman High (feat. OJ Da Juiceman)

Kellz is too old for this shit and its really sad. I can't even say I'm a fan anymore and the sad part is that its more so because of the terrible music he's putting out than him peeing on children. And this nigga OJ Da Juiceman needs to kill himself. His wackness is unwarranted and unneeded by anyone.

The-Dream - Put It Down

I know The-Dream is a writer and all, but you're not gonna tell me R. Kelly didn't write this shit. This shit has R. Kelly written all over it from the lyrics to the beat to the say he sung it. I'm sorry, this is clearly a Kellz record and in the album booklet I expect to see "Robert Kelly" next to this song lol.

Anyway, this record is HOT! I probably won't check the album out because I'm not really feeling his music, but this joint is nice.
