Thursday Billboard Update - 12/30/10

Speak Now
Jamie Foxx's Best Night Of My Life is this week's highest debut at #6 and with 144,000 sold. Back into the top 10 in its 28th week in stores is Eminem's Recovery. Marshall's latest album sees a 100% sales increase and jumps 15 spots 22-7 selling 137,000. And last, but not least, Keyshia Cole's Calling All Hearts debuts at #9 with 128,000 sold.

Like I told you all last week, Bruno Mars' Grenade would close out 2010 at #1, and it does. Good job by me. Anyway, in "things I thought I'd never say when I first heard the song" news, Wiz Khalifa scores his first top 10 with Black & Yellow rising 6 spaces 12-6. Let's be honest, this song is mediocre at best, but I'll show the kid some love because I never thought he'd make it this far when illseed first gave him some shine in like 2005 (or whenever that was). Also jumping into the top 10 is Enrique Iglesias' Tonight (I'm Lovin' You) with Ludacris and DJ Frank E at #7.

The Billboard 200 1-10
first week debuts in bold

1. Taylor Swift - Speak Now (1-1)

  • Ghostface Killah's Apollo Kids starts off at #114 with 13,000 sold.
  • David Banner and 9th Wonder's Death Of A Pop Star debuts in at #184 with just 7,300. Go support this album, it's hot.
The Billboard Hot 100 1-10
first time top 10's in bold

1. Bruno Mars - Grenade (2-1)
2. Katy Perry - Firework (1-2)

Thursday Billboard Update - 4/8/10

Usher
Usher's Raymond v. Raymond takes over the #1 spot with a string 329,000 sold in his first week in stores. Hot on his heals at #2 is last week's #1, Justin Bieber's My World 2.0, which actually sees a increase in sales this week and moves 291,000. The young bitches must've taken offense to my comments of last week lol. Coming in at #4 is Erykah Badu's New Amerykah, Part Two: Return of the Ankh with 110,400 sold.

I'm not even gonna talk past this sentence on the Hot 100 because #1-8 were standstills.

The Billboard 200 1-10
first week debuts in bold

1. Usher - Raymond v. Raymond (1)
2. Justin Bieber - My World 2.0 (1-2)
3. Various Artists - Now! 33 (3-3)
4. Erykah Badu - New Amerykah, Part Two: Return of the Ankh (4)
5. Lady Antebellum - Need You Now (4-5)
6. Monica - Still Standing (2-6)
7. Alan Jackson - Freight Train (7)
8. Justin Bieber - My World (5-8)
9. Lady Gaga - The Fame (8-9)
10. Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D. (10-10)
  • Checking in at #12 this week is Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon's Wu-Massacre with 38,100 sold. Did much better than what I would've guessed.
The Billboard Hot 100 1-10
first time top 10's in bold

1. Rihanna - Rude Boy (1-1)
2. B.o.B - Nothin' On You (2-2)
3. Train - Hey, Soul Sister (3-3)
4. Lady Antebellum - Need You Now (4-4)
5. Lady Gaga - Telephone (5-5)
6. Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart (6-6)
7. Black Eyed Peas - Imma Be (7-7)
8. Justin Bieber - Baby (8-8)
9. Jason Derulo - In My Head (11-9)
10. Young Money - Bedrock (9-10)
  • Usher's will.i.am produced track OMG as a favorable debut at #14 this week. I don't know if anybody else was thinking it, but I'm gonna say it: Usher is a tad old to be recording a song called "OMG," right??
  • Dirty Money's (really just Diddy's, he gonna get/take all the credit anyway lol) Hello, Good Morning featuring T.I. debuts at #34. This record could be dangerous.
  • Usher's Lil Freak sees a 13 spot bump 56-43.
  • Timbaland's If We Ever Meet Again with Katy Perry jumps 22 spots 96-74.
  • Oddly enough Erykah Badu has had one of the biggest tracks around for the past couple weeks with Window Seats, but it hasn't showed up on the Hot 100. That ends today as Ms. Badu finally checks in at #95.

Thursday Billboard Update - 10/8/09

Barbara
In an upset of epic portions, Mariah Carey's Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel not only doesn't get the #1 spot, but it doesn't even get the #2 either. Mariah's new shit starts off at #3 with a shocking 168,900 first week! Just last year her E=MC² did 463,000 in its 1st week. That's an substantial drop off for 1 year. I hate to say it, but this is what she gets for letting Gucci Mane hop on her track lol. By the way, Barbara Streisand (180,000) and Paramore (175,000) started out at #1 and #2 respectively.

In other top 10 news, Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 JUST missed the platinum barrier by less than 4,000 albums after selling 88,600 this week. One more week won't hurt.

In another bit of an upset, Jay Sean and his single Down finally knock the Black Eyed Peas out of the #1 spot on the Hot 100. BEP held down the top place for a record breaking 26 weeks with Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling.

The Billboard 200 1-10
first week debuts in bold

1. Barbara Streisand - Love Is The Answer (1)
2. Paramore - Brand New Eyes (2)
3. Mariah Carey - Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel (3)
4. Breaking Benjamin - Dear Agony (4)
5. Alice In Chains - Black Gives Way To Blue (5)
6. Jay-Z - Blueprint 3 (2-6)
7. Madonna - Celebration (7)
8. Miranda Lambert - Revolution (8)
9. Selena Gomez & The Scene - Kiss & Tell (9)
10. Pearl Jam - Backspacer (1-10)
  • Ghostface Killah's Wizard Of Poetry opens at #28 with 19,200 sold.
  • Marques Houston's Mr. Houston (which should've been called Mr. Marques) lands at #65 with just 9,000 records sold.
  • Playaz Circle's Flight 360: The Takeoff doesn't really take off coming in at #74 with 8,000.
  • Skyzoo's first album Salvation debuts at #126 with 4,600 sold.
  • Mack 10's Soft White (which I had no idea dropped) starts at #141 with just 3,900 sold.
The Billboard Hot 100 1-10
first time top 10's in bold

1. Jay Sean - Down (2-1)
2. Miley Cyrus - Party In The U.S.A. (3-2)
3. Jay-Z - Run This Town (4-3)
4. Jason Rulo - Whatcha Say (5-4)
5. Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling (1-5)
6. Lady GaGa - Paparazzi (7-6)
7. Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me (6-7)
8. Mariah Carey - Obsessed (9-8)
9. Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody (8-9)
10. Jay-Z - Empire State Of Mind (10-10)
  • Meet Me Halfway moved a bit too slow to be the 3rd link in the Black Eyed Peas' #1 spot chain, but it still jumped 15 spots 47-32.
  • Mariah Carey's I Want To Know What Love Is also sees a 15 spot jump as it moves 75-60 this week.

This Week In Flops 9/29/09

Before I get into the album sales shit I just wanted to acknowledge how hot this Mariah album cover is! What's better than 2 perfectly shaped titties?? SIX perfectly shaped titties! Powerful, extremely powerful.

Anyway, MC is looking for another #1 and there's no doubt in my mind she's gonna get it. 1) She's going up against basically nobody and 2) her album is dropping a decent amount of weeks after Blueprint 3. Now the only thing left to be determined is how much this new album is gonna sell as it grabs that top spot. I don't think its gonna do more than E=MC²'s first week numbers (463,000), but its Mariah so I'm sure it won't be too far off. I'm going with 350-425k.

After Mariah its really a crap shot for the rest, but lets try to sort things out anyway.

Its hard to figure out the market on albums like this. You know, the ones you only really know are coming about a month in advance and don't have first singles. I'm really taking a wild stab in the dark here and saying this off the strength of Raekwon selling 68,000 the other week, but I'm gonna rock with 30-50k.

If you knew Marques Houston was dropping an album, please raise your hand. I bet some of y'all are lying y'all ass off because for me, this shit is coming out of nowhere. I don't really remember hearing about a single or anything. Oh well, I'm gonna say Mr. Houston still has a bit of a fanbase and sales somewhere between 15-35k.

(Side note: Instead of calling the album Mr. Houston, why not call it Mr. Marques?? You know like a play on the pornstar Mr. Marcus. I think that would've been pretty gangsta. Slighty homo, but hell, he ain't doing the album for me, its for the ladies.)

This album has been floating around for a little while now. I'm not sure how much traction its gained, but I know Warren is going out on store soon so hopefully all the attendees will cop the album. I'm guessing 10-25k.

Man, talk about no label support! This project has a good chance to do New Boyz numbers. Hell, maybe less! I'm gonna go with 6-15k and an independent label deal after this.

Last, but not least, is Skyzoo's debut album The Salvation. Dude is nice, but at the end of the day he's on an independent. I'll give him 5-15k to be safe, but I hope he can reach 20.

Raekwon - House Of Flying Daggers (feat. Inspectah Deck, GZA, Ghostface, & Method Man) Video

I can't lie, I never really liked the song (mainly because of the beat), but this video is gangsta ass fuck! This dude 1000Styles went in on the art work! I gotta learn how to do that shit. Make me a Fiyah style or something lol.

Raekwon - House Of Flying Daggers (feat. Inspectah Deck, Ghostface, & Method Man)

Yeah I know this came out the other day, but I was really in no rush to post it as you can see. Here's the first single from Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt. II.

I'm not gonna lie, I definitely don't love this. The beat is just bad and makes me not wanna listen to the lyrics, which I'm sure were hot. Rae put out better shit than this as just throw-away shit.

Whatever, I just want the album!

Muzik!!!! Ghostface, Joell, Keri, Busta & More!!

I don't feel like making posts for all these individually so here we go lol.

Ghostface Killah - Message From Ghostface (feat. Novel)

I should have put "(Chris Brown Diss)" on the end of the title up there to draw more attention to my wesbite lol.

Joell Ortiz - Covering The Classics (Sampler)

Sickness! Lets get that Free Agent out in these streets!

Keri Hilson - Turning Me On (Remix) (feat. T-Pain & Lil Wayne)

Why is she dissing Beyonce?? It took her 3 single to get 1 marginal hit so I think she should probably chill lol. I still love you though Keri ;-).

Busta Rhymes - Turn My Swag On

Not sure why he rapped on this shit.

Rapper Big Pooh - Homage To Pete Rock (feat. Sta Stimuli & Kurupt)

Sickness!

La The Darkman - World Is Filled (feat. Willie The Kid)

Hmm, this is the best record I've ever heard dude make.

AC - Head In The DJ Booth

AC always comes with that shit!

Muzik Pt. 1

Busta Rhymes Feat. T-Pain - Hustler's Dream (Clean)

Wow, not impressed... at all lol.

Lil Jon Feat. Ciara & Lil Wayne - Roll Call

Can I get a show of hands from all the indiviuals that forget about Crunk Rock?? Let it go Jon, your time came and went in 2004 lol.

Shawty Lo - Roll The Dice

Why do niggas keep insisting on remixes tracks other people have already remixed?? First Wayne then Jeezy and now Lo. Anyway, as far as the track goes, in the 2nd verse it sounds like he was trying to call a truce with T.I. again but then again who knows with this nigga because beef with T.I. is obviously the only reason he's ever mentioned.

Lloyd Banks - Don't Come Around

I hope Banks is gonna put this type of effort on his album tracks. Good shit.

DJ Drama Feat. Ghostface & Lupe Fiasco - Paint A Picture

This shit is sick! Ghostface rips it, Lupe rips it, the beat is hard! Just a overall good ass track.

DJ Green Lantern Feat. Avery Storm & Uncle Murda - Crazy World

I never made a post about dude the cops shot in the back, but how sad was that?? Man, so fucked up still in 2009.

Ne-Yo - I'm Doin' Ok

How many tracks did Ne-Yo do for his last album?? I mean damn he's still dropping shit lol. This track, like its title, is just ok though.

Ya Boy Feat. E-40, Kurupt, & Glasses Malone - Superstars

No disrespect to Kurupt but his verse was wack! I'm about all of it from the way he spit it to the actual lyrics lol. And can somebody tell Glasses Malone he's gonna have a hard time trying to be a gangsta rapper using auto-tune lol. The verses went from good to bad to badder to baddest lol.

Jim Jones Feat. Ryan Leslie - Precious

Jimmy went back to the old super wack version of himself from like 03-04 lol. I mean that 2nd verse was just terrible and to add insult to injury he was off beat...as hell lol.

N.O.R.E. - Blame It Freestyle

I love N.O.R.E. but he does nothing to help this track out.

N.O.R.E. - Ain't I Freestyle

I don't know if its because this track is just wack or N.O.R.E. was just bad, but I hated this.

Happy Halloween MuZik!

Jamie Foxx Feat. T.I. - Just Like Me

Should've posted this a few days ago, my bad lol. Oh well, I just can't wait to hear Jamie and the crew on Foxxhole Radio tonight and hear what they have to say about Joe the No-Show.

Lloyd Banks - Shine Through

Damn, this is the first hot Banks track in years lol.

B.o.B - Left Field Lovely

This track is okay, nothing really special this time.

Ne-Yo - Roll With Me

What the fuck?? Gangsta R&B singers are never cool lol. Though this joint sounds like something from the late 90s Def Jam era, its still kinda dope. Then again, that was a pretty damn good time for Hip-Hop lol.

Mike Jones Feat. Lil Wayne - I Done Did It

Is there any purpose for this track being nearly 6 minutes?? Hell, any word on when this nigga's album is coming out?? lol.

Young Cash Feat. T-Pain - I'm Different

Interesting kinda track for Young Cash. I mean I don't know dude personally, but if you asked me a few years ago would he ever make a track like this I wouldn't have guess it at all lol. This is some B.o.B shit, but I like it.

Ghostface Killah - Computer Love

Interesting...well besides that Elmer Fudd line, that shit was just wack lol.

Lil Scrappy - Shawty Hell

Pretty hot beat...too bad its been over for Scrappy for a few years now lol.

Asher Roth - The Reading

I think maybe Asher is getting shook by the prospect of Eminem coming back because his last couple tracks I heard have not impressed me at all. I mean he even damn near went off beat a few times lol.

Bow Wow - New Jack

Didn't I say he needed to work on the sound quality of these shits?? Its really pointless to keep doing these freestyles if the sound quality is gonna be this shitty.

Myspace Friends DON'T Equal Record Sales!

I got about 25 tabs open on my Firefox right now so its time to start unloading shit, strap on ya' seat belt and get ya' popcorn ready!

First up is this video by Ghostface Killah asking his fans why y'all don't cop his shit. I'll talk more after you peep the footage:

118,609 as of right now to be exact. Now, I don't wanna diss Ghost or anything, but this is kinda the problem with the older rapper still doing it and aren't really up with the times. The first thing Ghost needs to know before he makes this argument again is that Myspace friend don't equal record sales. I mean it would be nice if that was the case, but anyone with any kind of music business sense knows it's not. Even if it was, selling 118,609 copies isn't that great anyway. On top of all of that, after how many weeks is this whole friends equaling record sales supposed to match?? After one week?? After 12 weeks?? When?? I don't think Ghostface has reached 118,609 with a debut of 35,600, but when he does then will he be happy?? I doubt it lol.

Now, I'm just gonna go over some examples of why thinking Myspace friends is a good barometer for albums sales is retarded:

Lupe Fiasco has 568,443 friends on Myspace. His album The Cool has been on the charts for 5 weeks and he's sold 268,300.

Soulja Boy has 666,906 friends on Myspace. His album Souljaboytellem.com has been on the charts for 15 weeks and sold
711,200.

Now here's the ball buster, Alicia Keys' album As I Am has sold
2,786,500 after just 10 weeks on the charts, but she has only 507,786 friends on Myspace! That's less than both Lupe and Soulja Boy yet she's sold more records than the both of them combined...TWICE!

This Week In Flops 12/4/07

Welp finally its here, Gangsta Grillz: The Album! I still say its fucked up how they just took them nigga whole album and destroyed it considering it was gonna be a major label release and had NOTHING to do with anything illegal. I dunno, whatever the album came together pretty good considering the circumstances, but unfortunately I don't see it doing so well on the big boy charts. Hopefully he can get over 100k, that would be good, but I have it at 60-80k.

I dunno what Ghost is doing up there at Def Jam, but obviously its working because he dropped to albums that didn't sell well last year and the same time this year he has a whole new album droppin'. Crazy! I wish he would've shared that wisdom with Joey B. (since I'd much rather listen to his album, though Andy tells me this Ghost is pretty good and he's actually making sense lol). I'm sure things won't be too different this time around so I have Ghostface doing about 30-45k.

My boy Mr. Scarface is back! Though MADE isn't quite The Fix, its still dope, but unfortunately its not gonna catch on and move any serious units. Its all good, 'Face is already a legend (and paid lol) so this L won't be as painful as say a Hurricane Chris or Kia Shine. Anyway, I have MADE selling about 15-25k in his first week.

One of the deepest weeks, as far as releases, continues with Wyclef's Carnival Vol. II. I'm sure you all remember the classic original Carnival from back in '97 right?? Of course you do! Well hopefully he can get that feel back on this album musically...too bad it just won't show on the charts since I'm sure not many even knew this was coming out. I can't see 'Clef selling anything over 30k in his first week.

Last, but certainly not least is Styles P. with Super Gangster Extraordinary Gentleman. SP doesn't really have to move any serious units since he's on Koch now so his flop is probably the one that matters the least this week. Whatever the case may be, SP's new LP is probably good for about 15k in its first week.

Why???: Ghostface Dropping The Same Day As Wu-Tang??

Watch the video:

Huh?? This is retarded, why would you drop an album on the same day as your group's album?? That makes NO sense to me whatsoever. What makes even less sense is the fact that this will be Ghostface's 3rd album in 2 years on Def Jam, but the boy Joe Budden couldn't even get a release date. What the fuck is up with that?? Its not like he's moving units either, Fishscale and More Fish both flopped in 2006, and this new one will too. Def Jam is fuckin' up!
