Random News Shit: You Already Know Edition

Welp, the Nnamdi saga is over and he landed on the Eagles. Good for them. As a Cowboys fan, am I now scared to face Philly? Hell no! Unless the Eagles also signed someone to help Andy Reid with clock management (and yes, I realize this won't matter if they're up 3 touchdown in the first quarter) or can guarantee Mike Vick stays healthy, I'll remain optimistic. Besides, assembling all-star teams never seems to work in football (and according to Adam Schefter they've already begun calling themselves the Dream Team) anyway.

2) Peyton Manning Signs 5-Yr/$90M Deal To Stay In Indy
It's funny, Peyton Manning takes less money and he's called the ultimate teammate, but when LeBron took less money to go to Miami last year he become a unqualified villain. And yeah, LeBron changed teams, but the fact still remains that he took less money. I'm not saying it's racism, but I am saying it's funny.

First they signed Roy Williams, then Sam Hurd, and now Marion Barber. I wouldn't be surprised if they were on the phone with Leonard Davis and Marc Colombo as we speak.

I'm not knocking the Bears though, I actually think these are 3 very good signing. Roy Williams get to play for the man who made him a Pro Bowler once upon a time in Mike Martz, Sam Hurd finally gets to prove he's not just a awesome special teams player, and the Barbarian gets to prove he's not done yet. Again, good signings.

I'm not gonna lie, this one actually hurt me more than the Nnamdi signing and I may or may not be starting to get worried...

Hmmmm, Atlanta, huh? Interesting choice for him.

Now I know he's dating LaStarya, but something just seems suspect about this dude. I don't know what it is, but the nipple rings don't help.

6) Nate Clements Agrees With Bengals
Damn, he knows the Bengals are gonna suck this year, right? He didn't steal enough money from the 49ers to get to the point where he wouldn't have to make a money grab on a bad team? I guess not.

7) Broncos Sign Willis McGahee
I'm not sure why they needed McGahee when they already have Knowshon Moreno and LenDale White under contract, but to each his own I guess.

Nnamdi Asomugha Is A Free Agent

SAN DIEGO - DECEMBER 05: Nnamdi Asomugha #21 the Oakland Raiders looks on from the sideline against the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium on December 5, 2010 in San Diego, California. The Raiders defeated the Chargers 28-13.
Remember when Nnamdi Asomugha signed that huge contract in 2009 that made him the highest paid DB in NFL history?? Yeah, well that contract is now voided and Nnamdi is a free agent. Does this type of insanity happen with anyone but the Raiders??

Hmm, I wonder if good ol' Nnamdi could be persuaded to leave the silver and black and get with the silver and blue?? He, like many others, would look awesome with a blue star on the side of his helmet next season. Lord knows we could use the competent DBs.

Unfortunately, his chances of landing in Dallas are most likely slim-to-none. Maybe he'll re-re-sign with the Raiders and re-become the highest paid DB in NFL history?? I say it has a better shot of happening than him landing in silver and blue.

A Few Thoughts On The Darrelle Revis Situation

SAN DIEGO - JANUARY 17: Cornerback Darrelle Revis #24 of the New York Jets warms up on the field prior to the AFC Divisional Playoff Game against the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium on January 17, 2010 in San Diego, California.
First off, clearly there's nothing else going on in sports news because there were no updates with this Revis story yesterday, yet it led every sports show. I wonder how much HBO had to pay everybody to make this happen?? There's no way you can make me believe Hard Knocks starting tonight had nothing to do with it.

Anyway, it's so tough to pick a side in this whole mess when you have no dog in the race. If I was a Jets fan I'd want him on the field. If I was a Patriots/Dolphins/Bills/all the other teams the Jets play this year, I'd want him off the field and be his side.

Even though it's close, I think I'd side with the owners here. The first reason is that the man still has years left on his contract. It'd be one thing if he was gonna be a free agent at the end of the season, but he's not. He's still gonna be under contract with the Jets. Then what?? Hold out again??

The next reason I'd siding with the owner is because asking for Nnamdi Asomugha money is retarded. Al Davis is the only owner dumb enough to give a DB that kind of contract. Now do I think he should get close to it?? Sure I do, he's the best corner in the game right now. Will he?? I doubt it. The difference between Nnamdi's situation and Revis' is that Nnamdi actually played out his contract, Revis hasn't. Revis is only 4 years in, Nnamdi is 8, and he's JUST got that deal last year. I'm sorry to say it, but you're gonna have to put more work in than that. I could see if Revis was a running back like Chris Johnson and had a short NFL-life expectancy, but he could realistically play well into his mid-to-late 30's if he wanted to. That meaning he could get 2 or 3 more contracts on top of the one he's gonna sign eventually.

Finally, these holdout situation just never seem to end well for the players. Skip Bayless spoke on this yesterday morning on First Take, and it's true. It's like the football gods frown upon it or something. Whatever it is, it just always seems to fall bad on the player.

Whatever happens with this Revis holdout situation it's just more evidence that the Jets are pretenders and not contenders. How are you contenders and you can't even get your best defensive player to come to camp?? And that's not even to mention how they lucked into a playoff berth last year by virtue of the Colts and Bengals deciding to rest starters.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: '10 Jets = '08 Cowboys.
