Random News Shit: SportsCenter Edition

NEW YORK - AUGUST 04: Alex Rodriguez #13 of the New York Yankees runs the bases after hitting his 600th career home run in the first inning against Shaun Marcum #28 (not pictured) of the Toronto Blue Jays on August 4, 2010 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx borough of New York City.
1) A-Rod Finally Blasts 600th Career Homer
I don't care what anybody says, this is quite monumental. Yeah, he's an admitted steroid users, but fuck it. He played through the steroid era, big whup, shit happens. And yes, I am just blabbing along because this is a baseball story and I have nothing of importance to say pertaining to it.

Only 162 more to catch Bonds!

2) Brett Favre: Back Already. Shocker.
Wow, just look at the shock on everybody face. Remarkable.

I like how today Brett says he never sent any text messages saying he was retiring, but conveniently didn't bother making a statement to refute the stories. One phone call to ESPN from his agent and story dead. Oh well, like I said yesterday, there was no way the NFL was going to let him retire so they can open the season with Drew Bress and the Saints vs. Tarvaris Jackson and the Vikings.

3) Shaq Signs With The Celtics
Good for Shaq and good for the Celtics. Their quest to re-form an early 2000's All-Star team is almost complete. So far they have Shaq, KG, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Jermaine O'Neal, and they own the rights to Rasheed Wallace. I say they add Allen Iverson, and re-add Stephon Marbury and Antoine Walker then BOOM! All of a sudden they have the most formidable team in the league if this were 2001.

That is the goal, right?? Oh okay, just checking.

Oh, and this just in, the Celtics will now offer rice pudding and prune juice at home games. And urinals will be installed behind both baskets. Oh yeah, and instead of risking injury playing during the preseason, the Celtics will instead be auditioning to be the next Viva Viagra band.

(Side note: So what's Shaq's new nickname gonna be?? The Big Shamrock? The Big Clover? Welp, being the racist city that Boston is, I'm sure the local will refer to him simply as "The Big Nigger.")

A-Rod's 2-Run Homer Beats Sox In 15th

New York Yankees batter Alex Rodriguez celebrates in front of Boston Red Sox first baseman Victor Martinez (41) as Yankees runner Derek Jeter heads for home plate after Rodriguez hit a two-run home run to beat the Red Sox in the 15th inning of their MLB American League baseball game at Yankee Stadium in New York, August 7, 2009.
Over 5 freakin' hours! This game started at 7 and ended after midnight! Scoreless until the last play of the game. One on (Jeter), one out, and then BOOM! Alex Rodriguez blast one out of the park, game over.

With this win coupled with the Dodgers loss, the New York Yankees are now in sole possession of the best record in the league! What was once a struggling pitching staff is now on fire. They played 15 innings and only allowed 4 hits! That's crazy! The starting pitching battle was crazy in itself too with the 2 former Marlins Josh Beckett and A.J. Burnett going at it (damn damn damn, the fuckin' Marlins ladies and gentlemen, the fuckin' Marlins). I'm just glad it finally ended.

A-Rod Has Surgery, Will Miss 6-9 Weeks

Now, he didn't have the big surgery that would've kept him out for 4 months, but he had a minor one that should get him back in the line-up A LOT sooner. The season doesn't start until April, and it realistic that he can be back before that month is out. He probably should've just had the labrum fixed now because you know its gonna come back at the end of the season.

A-Rod Homers In First Spring Game

In his first game since admitting he used steroids, a clean A-Rod bombed one deep in the Yankees' first spring game. Unfortunately these games are just exhibition games so they don't really count for anything, but its nice to hear. I also heard he received a standing ovation from the Florida crowd a few miles from Tampa. I pray he has the same in store for opening day on April 6th.

Alex Rodriguez Speaks At Yankee Camp

I loved that dramatic reading thing A-Rod was going for here lol. And how about that long ass 30 second pause between, "...And to my teammates," and, "thank you." LMAO! That was too classic and I look forward to it being parodied and made fun of for weeks to come. I can't wait to hear the B.S. Report tonight to hear Bill Simmons talk about this with JackO. I have no proof to back him actually calling JackO, but I'm pretty sure that would be appropriate for this day and this umm statement lol.

A-Rod Admits To Using Performance Inhancing Drugs

Man, this blows, A-Rod was my favorite player and now he'll be vilified for the rest of his career because he took steroids from 2001-2003 while with the Texas Rangers. I can't say I blame him for feeling pressure to perform because if you remember back in December of 2000 he had just signed that 10-year $252 million contract which was the biggest in sports at the time (not in baseball, but in SPORTS). At the same time McGwire, Sosa, and Bonds are hitting record numbers of homeruns (and as we all know, chicks dig the long ball lol).

Seriously though, I get it. I get why he did it and I don't hold it against him one bit. The real story here should be why "performance inhancing drugs" didn't seem to help his performance much. If you look at his career stats, the difference between those 3 years and all his others aren't that noticable. Plus, 2 of his 3 MVPs came when he was clean. You also can't forget that while hitters are more known for taking steroids, that pitchers were juicing too. I just hope people take all that into consideration when judging him and stop trying to make it seem like it was just 1 or 2 people taking that shit in the steroids era.

Random News Shit: Weekend Sports Edition

1) Report: A-Rod tested positive in 2003
I don't even know how I feel about this being that A-Rod is my favorite player and the Yankees are my favorite team. Maybe I need to pick better favorite players since T.O. is also a favorite of mine lol. Anyway, unless they can prove he's used it throughout his career I don't think I even care.

2) Sources: Suns shopping Stoudemire
I'm not shocked, I've been saying Amare was wildly overrated for years because the best chance they ever had of going to the finals in '06, he wasn't even playing. That's besides the fact he doesn't play defense. Maybe the Suns should think again before they trade because Steve Kerr has proven to be a terrible GM thus far and they might end up getting shit back that fucks them up even more.

3) NBA To Play G-E-I-C-O Instead Of H-O-R-S-E
How stupid is this?? I mean I know times are hard, but does the NBA need the money that bad?? Come the fuck on! Oh well, I bet the shit will be played by scrubs who didn't make the All-Star team anyway.

4) Lakers swap Radmanovic for Morrison
Radmanovic lost his starting job with the Lakers and Morrison is a bust so I don't mind the change. It'll be interesting to see how Phil works Morrison into the line-up seeing that Radmanovic was barely playing.

A-Rod Is Back In Pinstripes

Well, well, well look who came crawling back?? If you haven't heard, Alex Rodriguez has agreed to some outline for a 10 year/$275 million contract with the Yanks. I knew that nigga wasn't wasn't going anywhere, but now its pretty much official. [FULL STORY]

On another note, A-Rod sure has a nack for one uppin' anything going on in baseball now-a-days huh? I mean damn first he one-upped the World Series by announcing he was opting out of his original Yankees contract and now, on the day Barry Bonds gets indicted for perjury, he's announcing his big ass new deal. This dude NEEDS to be the center of attention at all times and this proves it lol. Damn this nigga so rich! lol.
