Random News Shit: NFL Old Head Edition

SAN DIEGO, CA - NOVEMBER 29: Runningback LaDainian Tomlinson #21 of the San Diego Chargers runs the ball against the Kansas City Chiefs during the NFL game on November 29, 2009 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California.
1) LaDainian Tomlinson In Talks With Vikings, Jets LaDainian Tomlinson Sign 2-Year Deal With Jets
Wait, wait, wait, so the Vikings let Chester Taylor walk, and the Jets let Thomas Jones go for the possibility to get L.T.'s corpse?? Yeah, Taylor and Jones are both on the wrong side of 30 as well, but at least they have something left in the tank. Did these 2 teams see LaDainian play last year?? He just hits the hole and falls down, he's doner than done at this point.

Oh well, if L.T. and his agent can convince one of these clubs to give him a bunch of money even though he's a shell of himself, then more power to him.

I wrote all that before L.T. signed and I didn't feel like wasting it so I just crossed it out lol. Anyway, L.T. has chosen the New York over the Minnesota to house his remains for the 2010 season. Good luck with that New York.

2) Browns Sign Jake Delhomme
So the Browns got rid of Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn to bring in Jake Delhomme?? Really, Jake Delhomme?? I can't wait to hear how they try to sell that one to the fans in Cleveland.

And I'm not saying Anderson or Quinn were the answer in Cleveland, but outside of JaMarcus Russell, Delhomme was easily the next worst QB in the NFL last season. I mean, the guy threw 18 picks in 11 games, he was a turnover machine. Then to make matters worse, as soon as he got hurt, the Panthers instantly got better with Matt Moore at the helm. I hope Browns are planning on taking a QB with one of those many draft picks this April because a terrible Browns team plus Jake Delhomme as the starter may equal the 2nd 0-16 team in 3 years.

3) Bengals Choose Antonio Bryant Over T.O.
Despite Chad Ocho Cinco Johnson pleas on Twitter, Terrell Owens will NOT be lining up across the field from him next year in Cincinnati. Instead that position will be filled by ex-Cowboy, Buc, Brown, and 49er, Antonio Bryant.

Now yall know I'm a major supporter of T.O., but they probably made the right choice. I mean, of course Bryant is younger, but you just wouldn't wanna do that to Carson Palmer. The man already has to deal with the artist formerly known as Ocho, you can't just throw T.O. in there. Smart move. Well, if Bryant is healthy. If he isn't then they might as well take a chance on Owens.

4) Chiefs Add Thomas Jones
Nice addition by the Chiefs! Jamaal Charles is obviously the man in KC now, but Jones is definitely going to be able to help them. The Jets WILL regret choosing L.T. over Jones.

5) Redskins Sign Larry Johnson
Clinton Portis and Larry Johnson working out of the same backfield?? Man, if this was 2005 it would be on!

6) Dolphins Bring Back Chad Pennington
Smart move I say. Chad Henne is the man in Miami, but it'll be good for the youngster to have a proven veteran behind him (no homo). He also knows that if he doesn't play well he could get pulled quicker with Pennington back there oppose to Pat White or Tyler Thigpen.

Random News Shit: Free Agency Friday Edition

Chicago Bears-signed free agent Julius Peppers talks with the media during an NFL football news conference at Halas Hall on Friday, March 5, 2010, in Lake Forest, Ill.
1) Julius Peppers Signs 6-Year, $91.5 Deal With Bears
And out of that $91.5 million, $42 million is guaranteed. Hopefully this works out for the Bears, but I could easily see it not. Not saying Peppers isn't a great player, but he's been known to take seasons off. Welp, better the Bears than the Cowboys, I say.

Now in addition to overpaying bringing in Peppers, the Bears also signed RB Chester Taylor and TE Brandon Manumaleuna today. Not bad moves, but I've gotta wonder why Chester felt Chicago was the best landing spot for him?? If he didn't want to split time and wanted to become a starter, why not go to a team without a clear cut starter like San Diego or Washington?? Matt Forte is only entering his 3rd season, he's not going anywhere and is still the man in Chicago.

2) Cards Trade Anquan Boldin To Ravens
Wow, wow, wow! Watch out for the Ravens next year! Joe Flacco has got to be through the roof right now. Hell, the entire city of Baltimore must be. I mean, not only did they just acquire one of the top WRs in the league, but they did so by only giving up 3rd and 4th round picks (a far cry from my Cowboys' infamous 1st, 3rd, and 5th for Roy Williams). I'm jealous.

(Side note: I totally wouldn't have minded giving up our 3rd & 4th round picks this year to pair Miles Austin with Anquan Boldin and cutting our losses with Roy Williams. Hell, we probably could've thrown Roy in the deal and note have had to give up 1 of those picks. Dammit, dammit, dammit!)

3) Jake Delhomme Released By Panthers
Congrats to my homie Justin, your nightmare is finally over lol. This is a year overdue at the least, Delhomme is probably more done than even LaDainian Tomlinson.

Here's the question though, why cut him?? You're still going to have to pay him the $12.5 from the retarded extension you gave him last year, so why not keep him on the bench to mentor Matt Moore?? Then again, maybe that wouldn't be such a good idea because I have no idea what Jake was seeing out there the past couple years lol.

It'll be interesting to see if he catches on anywhere else. You never know.

4) Jets Get Antonio Cromartie From Chargers
Looks like the Jets repeated what happened in the playoffs and steal one from the Chargers. New York pairs All-Pro Cromartie with the ultimate shutdown corner in Darrelle Revis for just a 3rd round pick (that could turn into a 2nd round pic) in the 2011 draft. That's right, they didn't even have to give up anything in this year's draft! The AFC East just got that much more tough.

5) Brandon Marshall To Visit With Seahawks
Why?? Brandon does know the Seahawks basically don't even have a QB, right?? There's plenty better destinations for him (*cough* Dallas *cough*) so I don't put much stock in this visit.

6) Dolphins Sign Karlos Dansby, Release Joey Porter, Akin Ayodele & Gibril Wilson
Dansby leaves Arizona for Miami and a 5-year $43 million contact with $22 million in guarantees. I don't think its too early to say they overpaid a tad.

Anyway, Porter gets his wish of being released, and I'm sure he'll be picked up soon enough, but he takes LB Akin Ayodele and S Gibril Wilson with him. I'm not sure why the 'Phins cut ties with Wilson, he was only on the team for one year.

7) Giants Agree To Terms With Antrel Rolle
Dammit! I wanted Rolle in Dallas and not he's going to our rivals in New York! I'm really pissed about this and I don't even think we were in contention to bring him in lol.

Anyway, the deal is 5-years and worth $37 million.

8) Vince Wilfolk Gets New Deal From New England
I can't believe it, the Patriots actually paid somebody! The extension is over a 5-year period and is worth $40 million, making Wilfork the highest paid nose tackle in the league. Congrats are in order for the money, but even more congrats are in order for convincing the Pats to give somebody what they're worth.

9) Josh Cribbs Gets His Deal Re-Structured
The Browns redid the last 3 years of their best player's contact and its now worth a max of $18.5 million with $7 million in guaranteed money. Not bad, especially for a kick returner. I just hope they don't try to make him a big part of their offense to justify it because that has totally ruined Devin Hester's career.

10) Colts Re-Sign Gary Brackett
The new deal is also for 5-years and is good for $33 million. Smart move by the Colts, what else can I say??

11) Lions Sign Kyle Vanden Bosch, Nate Burleson
Vanden Bosch gets 4 years for $26 million, and Burleson gets 5 years for $25 million. Nice moves by the Lions.

12) Falcons Agree To Terms With CB Dunta Robinson
The details of this deal haven't emerged yet, but just know Dunta Robinson is now an Atlanta Falcon.

Random News Shit: NFL Edition

Felix giveth and Felix taketh
1) Felix Jones Out 1-2 Weeks With Knee Strain
This pisses me off because Felix is so fuckin' good, but he just can't seem to not be hurt. Last year it was a hamstring and that turned into a toe and that turned into injured reserve. Week 1 in Tampa he tweaked his quad and now his he strained a ligament in his knee. Its so frustrating! Felix giveth and then he taketh away. I hope MBIII will be good to go Sunday. I mean Tashard can definitely carry the load either way, but MB is a better blocker and short yardage back.

2) Quinn Benched For Anderson In Cleveland
It sure is a good thing Eric Mangini waited until Week 1 to name a starter. He sure did psych-out all his opponents so far this year. Great strategy by the artist formerly known as "Man-genius." Congrats to Derek Anderson, but the Browns are just freakin' bad. He and Quinn are really just in lose-lose situations regardless and they are gonna lose this Sunday when they face the Bengals.

3) Panthers Sticking With Delhomme As Starter
Two touchdown, 7 interceptions, 0 wins. That's the story for Jake Delhomme this year, but the Panthers of Carolina have decided to stick with him as their starter. Then again, what other choice do they really have?? Play A.J. Feely?? Yeah, that's not gonna cut it. Oh well, I don't relaly care what happens with him now, I just wanted him to still be around by the time the Cowboys played them and he was.

4) Dolphins Acquire Thigpen, Place Pennington On IR
I understand them adding another QB, but what in the hell did they draft Pat White for?? Either way, I honestly believe Chad Henne is gonna shock a few people and open a few eyes as the Dolphins starter. Only time will tell.

5) Jackonville Jaguars Would Consider Playing Home Games In Orlando
Now keep in mind, they only said they'd consider it if the NFL expanded to 17 or 18 games. I can't knock them those because you have to do what you have to do to get butts in the seats. The Jags can't afford to be a bad team because they don't have a loyal enough fanbase built up.

I think the end result is probably going to be the Jacksonville Jaguars becoming the Los Angeles Jaguars or the Orlando Jaguars in a few years.

Random News Shit: Pre-Draft Mingling Edition

1) KC send Tony Gonzalez to ATL for 2nd-round pick in 2010
Dammit! I hate to admit it but Atlanta is gonna be fuckin' good next year. I can see them easily winning at least 12 games and doing some damage in the playoffs. I'm sad :-(.

2) Lions work on signing Matt Stafford before the draft
Sigh. The Lions need so much more than just a QB. Good thing they robbed my Cowboys for another 1st round pick in that bullshit Roy Williams trade.

3) Giants, Browns trade talks for Braylon Edwards dead
Finally, some good news! No, not that Braylon isn't coming to the NFC East, but rather the fact that if the Giants are too cheap to give up what it takes for him, you know they aren't gonna give up what it'd take for Anquan Boldin. O happy day!

4) Panthers give Delhomme 5-yr, $42.5 million extension
LMAO!! I guess the Panthers still haven't figure out that they won last year despite Jake Delhomme and not because of him. I guess time heals all wounds because after that performance against the Cards this past January, he'd be paying me if he wanted to play for my team again lol. This guy has 1, maybe 2 decent years left in him at best.

5) Cowboys re-sign Miles Austin
Who knows why this guy was left lingering on the open market for as long as he was, but thank goodness Dallas re-signed him. Austin having a big year could be the difference between making the playoffs or going fishing.

Happy Birthday Jake

Another Saturday of playoff games, another 0-2 mark heading into Sunday. What the fuck?! Quick question: Who had Arizona by 20 AT Carolina?? I'll tell you who: NOBODY! Even if you were in the small minority that thought the Cards might pull it out, nobody had a 33-13 final score lol.

You know what this reminded me of?? My Cowboys in Week 17 at Philly but instead of the Panthers losing as a team, you can just pretty much blame this one all on Jake Delhomme. And is there any worse day to have possibly the worst game of your career than on your birthday?? Jake threw 5 picks and lost a fumble on his freakin' birthday! So Sad. Somebody get that man a beer.

Anyway, back to my picks:

Maybe I should just retire from picking games in the playoffs. I feel so lost. Not too mention I'm losing more faith in my Steelers over Chargers pick by the minute. I just don't know. This all is just too much for me I'm out lol.
