Allen Iverson's Turkish Vacation

Former NBA player Allen Iverson holds a jersey from his new team, the Turkish basketball team Besiktas, with the Besiktas club president, Yildirim Demiroren, during a press conference in New York October 29, 2010.
Since I'm playing catch up anyway, I figured there would be no better place to start than with Allen Iverson.

The other day A.I. agreed to join Turkish basketball team Besiktas, and will start playing November 8th. It's sad A.I. couldn't catch on with an NBA team, but truly the saddest part of it all is that he'll be playing on a 2 year, $4 million contract. Iverson got bigger checks than that for doing a 30 second commercials. So Darko Milicic can get $20 million to play in the NBA (he's scored a whopping 14 points in 3 games so far this season), but a future Hall Of Famer has to settle for scraps in Turkey?? And where were those big money Euro teams?? A Greek team gave Josh Childress $32.5 million for 3 years, but all Iverson could get was $4 million from Turkey?? It's just sad.

Well, I wish him the best, and hopefully somebody will give him a shot next year.

Random News Shit: NBA Free Agency Edition Pt. 1

Nets billboard
1) LeBron To Meet With Knicks Thursday
Wait a second, so the aren't even flying LeBron out to New York, they're going to meet in Cleveland?? Man, I thought they didn't stand a chance before, now they're totally out of it. The only thing the Knicks can do at this point is show LeBron the "Cleveland, At Least We're Not Detroit" video on a continuous loop.

This is just a formality, LeBron is NOT going to the Knicks.

2) Nets Try To Woo Free Agents With Jay-Z/Prokhorov Billboard
My main question about that billboard is do you think jay-Z had any say on whether his image with on it?? I doubt it. New Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov would've sent some Russian mobsters down to Brooklyn to tune Hov and the Roc Nation up if he didn't agree. And that's suggesting he even bothered asking Jay-Z's permission, he could've just said fuck it and did it.

Whatever, the Nets aren't get anybody anyway. Maybe an Amare or Boozer, but none of the big three.

3) Dirk Nowitzki Opts Out Of Mavs Contract
This is intriguing, but I don't think Dirk wants to leave Mark Cuban. It's sad too because Dallas is never going to win with Dirk as their best player. It's just not gonna happen. He's best off in a situation like playing with Wade in Miami or with LeBron in Cleveland...or maybe Chicago?? I'd love to have Dirk in Miami, but like Bill Simmons said yesterday on ESPN's free agency summit, the city of Dallas would kill themselves if Dirk left them for the team that beat them in the Finals in '06. I think Dirk either goes to Chicago, or stays in Dallas.

4) Paul Pierce Plans To Opt Out
Oh stop it Paul, we all know you aren't going anywhere.

5) Amare Testing Free Agency
I can't wait to see who gives Amare Stoudemire a max contract so he can give you 15 and 8 next year. Yeah, he averaged 23 and 9 in 09-10, but that was when he played with Steve Nash. If he goes to New York or Miami he'll be asked to create his own shots. That's right, now more super easy baskets in the paint off perfect passes from Nash. Amare needs Nash more than Nash needs Amare.

My gut feeling is that he'll end up playing for the Knicks because after they get burned by all of the big three they'll have to bring in something so the city doesn't take to the streets to riot.

6) Richard Jefferson Gives Up $15 Million To Opt Out
I thought Richard Jefferson was an idiot when he dumped his fine ass fiance last summer, but that doesn't have SHIT on this. By optioning out of the final year of his contract with the Spurs, he's agreeing to give up the $15 million he's due to make next season for a chance to make less than half of that somewhere else. Did he not see himself play last year?? Talk about Idiocrary 101.

7) Allen Iverson Will Try To Comeback Next Season
I love A.I., but it's time to give it up. He doesn't want to be a role player, so what's the point?? I could see if his goal was to win a championship, but his goal is to start. He totally has the wrong mindset to contribute on a winner at this point in his career.

8) Doc Rivers To Remain Coach Of Celtics

Good for Doc. That is all.

9) Cavs In Negotiations With Byron Scott To Coach
Smart move on the Cavs behalf, Scott is a very good coach and he won't just be a suit like Mike Brown was.

Random News Shit: SportsCenter On DVR Edition

Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson arrives to warm up before playing against the Denver Nuggets in their NBA basketball game in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, December 7, 2009. Iverson has returned to the 76ers after being traded to the Nuggets in 2006.
More old news, but I wanted to hit it so we can get back to neutral.

1) Allen Iverson To Miss Rest Of Season
This may be it, but for real this time. I don't know how sick is 4 year-old daughter is, but if her illness doesn't clear up, he'll probably never return because family comes first. He shouldn't need the money (emphasis on shouldn't), so this is probably the sad end to a magnificent career. Good luck to A.I. and his little girl, I'm positive this is harder to deal with than any challenges he's ever face in the NBA.

2) LeBron Files Paperwork To Wear No. 6 Next Season
This is so wack to me. I know he's trying to sell the whole "paying homage to Jordan" thing, but I'm not buying it. Legends like Bill Russell and Julius Erving donned the #6 jersey, what they don't deserve homage too?? LeBron is a student of the game, I'm sure he knows all-time greats have worn #6 as well as #23.

I don't get it though. I know I'm not as extreme as Skip Bayless, who thinks Bron is ditching the number to get from under Jordan's shadow of expectations, but there is something else going on. And its NOT just to sell more jerseys, with all the money he's making, jersey sales are probably the least of his concern. Oh well only time will tell, I guess.

3) Hasheem Thabeet Sent Down To D-League
Back in June, a wise man said Hasheem Thabeet was "destined to be Stromile Swift 2.0." I wonder who that wise man was?? Oh yeah, it was me! By being sent down to the D-League, Thabeet becomes the highest draft pick ever to have that done to him. Man, its a good thing they didn't take Tyreke Evans, Steph Curry, or Brandon Jennings with that 2nd overall pick.

Here's an idea, the next time the Grizzlies are in the lottery, maybe they should try avoiding the 2nd overall pick because they are 2 for 2 in #2 pick busts since 2000. First there was Stromile Swift, and now there's Thabeet. (And they didn't exactly have much luck with the #2 overall pick pre-2000 either. They got 3 decent seasons out of 1998 #2 pick Mike Bibby before trading him to Sacramento, but 1999 #2 pick Steve Francis didn't even want to play for the franchise and cried until he forced a trade to Houston.)

4) Ocho Cinco, Andrews On New DWTS Cast
That's right, now Chad Ocho Cinco...I mean, Chad Johnson (remember he said he's change his name back if Darrelle Revis shut him down) will have the opportunity to dance and act a fool without Dictator Goodell throwing thousands of dollars worth of fines at him.

Also joining Ocho Cinco Johnson this season will be ESPN sideline reporter, and white woman of my dreams, Erin Andrews, fine ass singer Nicole Scherzinger, former Bay Watcher and sextaper Pamela Anderson, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, actors Shannen Doherty, Aiden Turner, and big booty Niecy Nash, and reality stars Kate Gosselin, and Jake Pavelka.

The new season starts March 22nd.

NBA All-Star Starters; Hatin' On Iverson

Allen Iverson
Dwight Howard C Amare Stoudemire
Kevin Garnett F Tim Duncan
LeBron James F Carmelo Anthony
Dwyane Wade G Kobe Bryant
Allen Iverson G Steve Nash

Why is everybody so tight about Allen Iverson not only making the All-Star team, but making it as a starter?? Yeah his stats aren't there this year, but he's Allen Iverson! Its a game for the fans and fans like Allen Iverson. Deal with it. Seriously, its a fuckin' exhibition game, it doesn't count for anything, let the fans see who they wanna see without all the bitching. The fans are the ones who pay the ridiculous prices to support these players and teams, they can't AT LEAST see who they want in the All-Star game?? Again, its an exhibition game, it doesn't count.

Besides, why is everyone singling out A.I.?? I don't hear anyone complaining about Kevin Garnett (15 and 8) or Tim Duncan (20 and 10) starting. You telling me Chris Bosh (24 and 11), Antawn Jamison (22 and 8), and Gerald Wallace (19 and 11) aren't all having better seasons than K.G.?? Hell, even David Lee (19 and 11) is having a better season than Garnett.

And out on the West, you telling me you can't make a argument that guys like Kevin Durant (29 and 7), Dirk Nowitzki (26 and 8), and Zach Randolph (21 and 12) should be starting over Timmy?? All of these guys are having better seasons than the person starting over them, but still, Iverson is the one everyone is up in arms about. Of course we all know why though, because K.G. and Timmy are seen as "good guys" and A.I. isn't. Bottom line. Its sad that its come to that, but it has. Sad.

Allen Iverson: A True Bawler

I don't know why, I don't know why, I do not know WHY this video was so funny to me. I literally busted out laughing the first time I saw this on SportsCenter yesterday. This is hands down the funniest press conference since Mike Singletary's first one as the 49ers head coach last season.

This also goes up there with the all-time great on camera cries. I mean its right up there with T.O., Game, and Young Buck, I swear!

Magazines featuring Tiger Woods are photographed Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, in New York. Woods said he let his family down with "transgressions" he regrets "with all of my heart," and that he will deal with his personal life behind closed doors, in a statement released Wednesday.
Sorry about the lack of content, I was really just being lazy. And not lazy as in I didn't wanna write anything, lazy as in I didn't really care about what was going on in the music industry. But I'm back. That's right, I'm BACK!

1) Tiger Woods Apologizes For 'Transgressions'
I've had awhile now to think about what I was gonna say about this matter, and you know what? I still don't know what to say. I mean is there anything to say?? A super rich, super famous guy cheated on his wife. And?? Shit happens everyday. If Hillary Clinton can get cheated on, that old nanny trick Tiger wifed can get cheated on too.

See, the real question isn't why did Tiger cheat, its why the hell did Tiger get married in the first damn place?? Ain't like homegirl was his high school sweetheart or been down with him when he didn't have nothing, she was essentially just some chick he met along the ride. And I don't know what's wrong with these famous people, but you don't settle down until you fall off. That's a rule! ...Okay, it isn't a rule, but dammit it should be.

This all doesn't matter though, Tiger will be fine. The only people truly upset and offended by this is women, and last time I checked, not many women watch golf or buy the products he endorses. As long as he still has his endorsements, which he does, Tiger has nothing to worry about.

(Side note: Can black women stop it with the whole super ignorant "that's what Tiger gets for getting a white girl" thing?? I mean come on, y'all asses can't POSSIBLY believe this is all a result of being with a white girl. If the domestic violence part is true, a black girl would've done the same (hell, probably even worse). If she hits him up for a shitload of cash, a black girl would too. This is not a black and white issue, its a male and female isn't. Ignorant black women, get over yourselves.)

2) Allen Iverson Signs Back With 76ers
Welp, that was fast. Iverson sure could show Brett Favre a thing or two about retiring and unretiring in a timely manner.

Anyway, we all knew the retirement last week wasn't final, so this should shock no one. Like I said last week, A.I. was simply looking for attention and sympathy so he picked his ball up and went home...and now he's back. Hopefully Andre Iguodala doesn't catch any feelings about not being the only A.I. in Philly again.

(Side note: How ironic is it that Iverson's first 2 games back with the Sixers are gonna be against Denver and Detroit?? Its funny how these things work sometimes.)

3) Ron Artest Admits To Drinking Alcohol At Halftime
That alcohol was Hennessy, to be exact. Ron has since clarified his statements, but that doesn't make this story any less funny. Drinking Henny at halftime, that's crazy! Totally shits on those reports that Gilbert Arenas used to play online poker at the half a few years ago.

You know what's even crazier?? I heard somebody reading off his first and second half stats from back then, and there was no real drop off in production. I guess he can't blame it on the alcohol after all.

4) Nets Go 0-18, Set Mark For Worst Start In NBA History
Is that new Russian owner guy just bad luck, or what?? Just terrible.

Iverson Plans To Retire

Memphis Grizzlies guard Allen Iverson speaks to the media about a partial tear in his left hamstring before an NBA basketball game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, in Memphis, Tenn. The team says the injury will make Iverson miss approximately three weeks of play.
Stephen A. Smith broke the story on his website and on the 6pm SportsCenter, and future Hall Of Famer Allen Iverson is planning on retiring from the NBA at the age of 34. Here's the statement from Iverson himself.

Here's my response to all of this: Yeah fuckin' right!

I love Allen Iverson, not only is he one of the all-time greats, but he was the first player to really give Hip-Hop a face in the NBA. Cut the bullshit though, man. I hate to say it, but A.I. is just seeking attention and and public sympathy right now, that's it. He doesn't want to retire and he isn't planning on staying retired. He said it himself, he still has the desire to play, and he clearly can still play. The problem is he just wants to play on his own terms, which is why no teams are calling.

And if you were a GM, why would you call?? Think about it, why would you want a guy who's main priority is whether he's a starter, and not what he could do to help the team win?? Nobody wants that bullshit, not even the Knicks.

Bottom line: Whenever Iverson decides to get off of his high horse, his phone will start ringing. Until then, save us the dramatics. Nobody can be on the top forever and Father Time is forever-and-0, get with the program Allen.

(Side note: The 2 best parts of this retirement is 1) constant replays of Iverson crossing up Jordan and 2) hearing the infamous "Practice. We talkin' about practice!" rant again and again.)

Iverson, Grizzlies Officially Part Ways

US NBA star Allen Iverson adjusts his cap as he appears as a guest at the 2009 European Championship Basketball semi-final game between Spain and Greece in Katowice on September 19, 2009. Spain won 82-64.
The A.I. era in Memphis is officially over now that both parties have agreed to terminate the contact. Who saw this coming?? Oh yeah, everyone.

Like I've said before, Allen needs to just catch on with a contender and try to get a ring before he retires for real. I really hope starting isn't more important than getting a champion because if it is, that's truly sad. Hopefully he can find a home soon, but who really knows??

(Side note: Didn't A.I. cut his hair last year?? Okay, so how this nigga got braids again already?? Now besides the fact that I hate when dudes cut their braids or dreads just to grow them all over again, I wanna know how he did it so fast?? He didn't even have a baby 'fro when the season ended and now he has the braids back. And its not like he's just braided straight back, the nigga got designs again shit, its crazy. Oh well.)

Random News Shit: SportsCenter Edition

KANSAS CITY, MO - SEPTEMBER 20: Running back Larry Johnson #27 of the Kansas City Chiefs looks on during warm-ups prior to the start of the game against the Oakland Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium on September 20, 2009 in Kansas City, Missouri.
1) Chiefs Release RB Larry Johnson
Who didn't see this coming?? I thought they'd wait until the offseason, but I'm not shocked they did it this early. I mean, its not like their gonna need him to continue their potential 1-win season.

Now, lets talk about possibly destinations. Larry turns 30 on the 19th and we all know that's a dreadful age for running backs, but you know age doesn't turn off?? Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots! Is there any chance the Pats don't end up getting him some how?? I'm actually surprised they were able to swing a straight up trade for a 7th round draft pick seeing Scott Pioli is the GM in KC. Its the least he could've done after the Pats gift wrapped Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel as parting gifts.

Whatever, either way, I wouldn't be surprised if LJ was suiting up for the Pats in 2010-11.

(Side note: I wonder when was the last time he spoke to Jay-Z??)

2) Iverson Takes Leave From Grizzlies, May Retire
This may be one of the saddest story in the NBA in the past couple of years. Why can't he just swallow his pride and come off the bench for a contender?? What in the fuck was he doing in Memphis anyway?? Future Hall Of Famers without rings should be gravitating to situations they can reach the promise land in, not just sitautions you can start in.

Okay, lets just say he was a starter for Memphis. Now what?? You're still on a terrible team in a terrible NBA city. You're only going to win about 20 games and you further tarnish your legacy. I don't get it. I hope he doesn't retire and ends signs on to a team like Cleveland or Orlando so he can at least contend, but who knows??

3) LeGarrette Blount Reinstated
Good, he shouldn't have been suspended for longer than a game in the first place. Congrats to the young man.

CLEVELAND - FEBRUARY 22: Allen Iverson #1 of the Detroit Pistons looks on while playing the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 22, 2009 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland won the game 99-78.
1) Iverson To Join The Grizzlies
Damn, this is just so sad. Heart breaking even. Allen Iverson was still one of the baddest men in the land up until getting traded last season. People forget, but A.I. was averaging like 27 or 28 points a game back in 07-08. That was that long ago. He was thrown into a lose/lose situation last season so I think he still has some juice left in him.

Of course the Grizzlies will still suck though so my condolences to the future Hall Of Famer's career in basketball. I hope that doesn't sound too mean, but I just wish he'd realize its better to be a role player on a championship caliber team than a starter on a loser like Memphis.

2) Jeter Ties Gehrig's Hits Mark
No need to much too big of a deal out of this. I mean its a great thing and all BUT no need to make a big deal out of the tie when he'll probably break it Friday when the Yanks play the Orioles.

3) Browns FINALLY Name Quinn Starter
Did we really need to wait this late for this announcement?? Who didn't know Mangini was gonna give Brady Quinn the nod?? And for Mangini to come out and say he wasn't gonna name a starter and give the Vikings and advantage was just retarded. He obviously hadn't watched much film on the Vikes' defense because no matter if its Quinn or Derek Anderson, neither will have a good game and the Browns will still lose.

4) Nets Unveil Brooklyn Arena Design
Looks nice. Very nice. Its no Cowboys Stadium, but its nice.

Random News Shit: NBA Free Agency Edition Pt. III

1) Hedo To The Blazers Raptors
The busy 2009 offseason continues with Hedo Turkoglu jetting on the Magic for the Blazers and then jetting on the Blazers for the Raptors all in the same day. Remarkable! On that video above Ric Bucher says it wasn't about the money, but its HAAAARD to believe a player would give up a chance to play with a conference championship team AND a playoff contender to play for a 33 win team with a disgrutled superstar who is going to leave after next season just because the city is nicer. It was about the money, and that's fine.

Anyway, the deal with Toronto is 5-years, $53 million. Maybe Drake is just making is cool to be in or around Toronto lol.

2) Phil Jackson Will Return To The Bench Next Season
Phil couldn't turn down the opportunity to coach this team that's gonna take the floor for the Lakers next season. I ain't mad at him.

3) Iverson Interested In The Grizzlies??
Like Bucher said, who says they're interested in playing for the Grizzlies?? It CAN'T be this bad for Iverson out there. It just can't be!

4) Avery Johnson May Be Piston's Top Pick
Awww, does this mean we won't be able to hear his voice on ESPN breaking game anymore?? Well that sucks balls, because hearing Avery speak is the best part about some of those Friday night games lol. I'm glad to see Avery get another coaching look though, but I'm not sure if this is the best situation to go into. Maybe its just me, but I know I wouldn't wanna coach this team.

5) Marbury Doesn't Foresee Return To Boston
I don't think the C's really want him back either though. Hell, they might need him if they keep pissing off Rondo and acting like he's on the block.

Random News Shit: NBA Free Agency Edition Pt. II

Kobe and Artest
1) Artest Plans To Sign With Lakers; Ariza Plans To Sign With Rockets
In all the time I've been a fan of the NBA, I don't think I'd ever heard of a situation like this where two players swap teams on the same day and are not involved in a trade. Free agents can't officially sign with a team until July 8th, but Ron Artest's deal will be 3 years and worth about $18 million while Trevor Ariza's will be... exactly the same thing! This is getting freaky lol.

Anyway, though Ron Artest has the bigger name, I'm not sure who got that better of this arrangement?? I mean both Artest and Ariza are great defenders who are capable of knocking down threes when needed. The only difference is that Ariza won't be getting all those open looks like he did when he played with Kobe.

How about the Lakers now though?? Kobe, Pau, Odom, and Artest?? If they can get some better play out of Jordan Farmar I think you can pretty much pen L.A. in as the favorites to be the champs again next season. And just in case you were wondering, yes my "09 Ariza = 08 Posey, 09 Lakers = 08 Celtics" theory from yesterday has officially been tossed in the trash can. Had to be done.

2) Shaq Introduced In Cleveland
Shaq said that he wants to "win a ring for the King" in his introductory press conference. I'm not so sure how that's gonna go with Ron Artest now a Laker, but it should get interesting. The Magic really let the LeBrons off the hook by most likely letting Hedo walk in exchange for Vince Carter, but who knows.

Oh yeah, Shaq also made an appearance on PTI today and Michael Wilbon offered some new Cleveland nicknames and the one Shaq liked the best was "The Big Witness Protection." I must say, I really like that one too and I think its all but settled at this point.

3) Riley Contacts Iverson About Joining Heat??
Now this is according to "insiders" so don't take it as fact, but if there's any truth to it Pat Riley is on one. Don't get me wrong, I love Allen Iverson, but he isn't what the Heat need at all. The Heat don't need another scoring guard, they need some consistent big men. Plus, where is he gonna play?? Are they gonna stunt Mario Chalmers' growth and put him on the bench?? You KNOW Iverson isn't coming off the bench. This is just a bad idea if you ask me. I'd much rather hear about the Heat trying to pursue Iverson's team mate last year Rasheed Wallace. Speaking of 'Sheed...

4) Celtics Bring Out Big Guns To Woo Wallace
"Celtics managing partner Wyc Grousbeck, team president Danny Ainge, coach Doc Rivers and All-Stars Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, all met with Wallace for three hours in Detroit"

Damn! The Heat need to do the same thing, but instead of coaches and team execs they should bring along the Miami Caliente. If you don't know who the Miami Caliente's are, they're Miami's team in the Lingerie Football League! More on them later, but I think that would definitely do the trick.

Guess Who's Back?!

I'm Back!!
Did you miss me?? Probably not but whatever I love you anyway lol. Man, AT&T was really fucking' with me (still no word on why it took over a week to transfer service from upstairs to downstairs).

Of course I feel like writing, so lets go down the list of shit I missed while I was gone:

Lil Wayne sued the DJs (Lame.), Jamie Foxx got stalked (Weird.), Rick Ross lied again (50 is destroying your career and livelihood so of course we're gonna believe he wanted to pay you to leave him alone. The Delusional Rapper strikes again!), Officer Powell resigned (I kinda feel bad for the nigga now... then again, no I don't lol.), Run-DMC got inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame, Brian Dawkins helped dude Philly fired over Facebook, Iverson out for the season (Go ahead and sell your Iverson Pistons jerseys now because they'll be worthless in a couple months when he's no longer with the team.), Jay Cutler got traded to the Bears (The Bears gave up waaaaay too much. I also hope Cutler knows there's no Brandon Marshall or Eddie Royal waiting for him in Chicago lol.), a judge rejected Mike Vick (These white folks aren't gonna let that shit go are they??), the Giants cut Plax (This makes me feel a little better about the T.O. situation), the new Sidekick got a release date (I'm seriously considering getting it if the price is right), Seth Rogen hosted SNL and Andy Samberg is a BOSS (Classic shit lol.), Bishop Lamont got dropped, then he didn't (lol), KING Magazine went out of business (One of the saddest days of my life.), Barack went to Iraq (I think he and Bush have gone about the same amount of times already lol.), Dame Dash got exposed (Big deal.), Manu out for the season (Its official, the Lakers are going back to the Finals.), Chris Brown plead not guilty (Huh?? Well who else beat Rihanna's dumbass up?? I mean you even apologized for it lol), Lil Scrappy signed with DTP (Waste of a roster spot.), Mos Def challenged Jay-Z and Wayne (I'd love to see it. Wayne would come in last obviously lol.), UNC won another National Championship (The only thing good that happened to my bracket since the first couple days of the tourney lol.), Jim Jones got arrested and Twittered it (How lame is this shit?? Its takes all the gangsta-ness out of the arrest.), J-Hood dissed Joe Budden (Why???), UConn's girls went undefeated (Again.), and Blake Griffin, Jodie Meeks, and DeJuan Blair all entered the NBA draft.

Yep, I think that's about it lol.

Random News Shit: Night In The Association

1) Marbury Makes His Celtics Debut
^^That is the happy man in the world right now lol. Tonight Stephon Marbury made his debut with the C's in a 104-99 win over the Pacers in Boston. Steph came off the bench and turned in 8 points on 4-6 in 13 minutes of use. He also added in a rebound, 2 assists, and a steal. Not bad, if he can keep this up it may work out for the Celtics after all.

(Oh yeah, and no there is no other #3 on the Boston's roster, I'm assuming he's worrying #8 for the same reason KG rocks #5, his regular number was retired.)

2) Hamilton Returns To The Starting Line-Up, Pistons Return To Winning
With Allen Iverson out due to injury, Richard Hamilton regained his spot in the starting line-up tonight and scored 31 points while helping the Pistons snap their 8 game skid. Michael Curry needs to join Terry Porter in the unemployment line because this was a common sense move to start Rip. They were 4-12 wth him coming off the bench! Hello!

The sad thing is that when Iverson does come back he'll probably be coming off the bench. Curry should use his fuckin' commin sense and start both Rip AND Iverson at the same time. News flash Coach Curry, Rodney Stuckey ain't that good. He wasn't good enough for Joe Dumars to send Chauncey to Denver and he isn't good enough to start over either A.I. or Rip. The nigga averaged 7.9 points and 3 assists a game over the 8 game losing streak. He should clearly be the odd man out. (And yeah he hot 22 tonight, but he only had 1 assist and I need more than that from my starting point guard.)

3) President Obama Sits Courtside, See's His Bulls Get Spanked By Wizards
The first President in 10 years to go see the a Wizards play. Then again, I guess Bush was busy fuckin' shit up for when Obama got in office lol.

Anyway, the Bulls got shellacked at the hands of the now 14-44 Wizards 113-90. Maybe the Wiz would play better if Barack came by more often lol. Here's a pic of him sitting courtside.

4) Jason Williams Denied Reinstatement
I still don't know why he retired in the first place. Hell, I don't even know why he left the Heat to sign with the Clippers in the offseason. I mean its not like he got traded or somebody put a gun to his head lol.

5) Shaq Erupts For 45 In Suns Victory
Where was this last night against the Lakers?? Anyway, they say this is the most Shaq has scored in 6 years and the first time he's hit 40 in 4 years. He also added in 11 boards so good for Shaq.

Its So Cooold In The D

After the Miami Heat sent them to their 7th straight loss, the Detroit Pistons are below .500 at 27-28. (I was actually watching that game before President Obama spoke and D-Wade was killing them! He set a new career high too with 16 assist.)

So, is it time to admit that this trade was an epic fail for Joe Dumars the Pistons?? When it happened, I said it didn't make sense and now they are 23-28 with Allen Iverson in that #1 jersey. Thank goodness they are still in the East though, so they're still in the playoff race (if they were in the West they'd be in 10th place).

Allen Iverson's New Look

Check out A.I.'s new hair cut! He and 'Melo both need to find a decent barber and get their hair cut because they both have that same unstyled look going on post-braids lol. Fade that shit or something!

Kobe's No. 24 Jersey Back At #1

When Kobe changed his number from 8 to 24 in 2007 his jersey was the number 1 seller, but in 2008 Kevin Garnett's Boston Celtics No. 5 bumped him. Now its 2009 and Kobe is back on top of thangs, knocking K.G. to #2. I can't really say I'm surprised because not only are the Lakers playing some great basketball right now, but their white jerseys are sick. I don't even wear jerseys anymore, but if I did I'd get a white Kobe. I guarantee you that if they tracked the colors sold the white joints would be #1 with the purple aways being #2 and the gold home ones coming in last. I mean ever since NBA Live 2003 I've played with the Lakers solely so I could rock the white jerseys on the game lol.

Anyway, check out the top 10 after the jump. I'm almost positive you'd be surprised when you see it. Oh, and the All-Star reserves are gonna be announced tomorrow night on TNT so tune in and come back later to see my reaction.

1) Kobe Bryant
2) Kevin Garnett
3) LeBron James
4) Chris Paul
5) Allen Iverson
6) Pau Gasol
7) Paul Pierce
8) Dwyane Wade
9) Derrick Rose
10) Nate Robinson

Really?? Nate Robinson made the list?? Then again, if you like the Knicks, who else's jersey are you gonna buy?? lol. I also can't believe Pau Gasol is all the way up to #6! I'm telling you, its those white Laker jerseys. Next year Bynum will probably be up there too. Lastly, how did D-Wade drop to #8?? Fucked up lol.

All-Star Starters Announced; Howard Sets New Record

Never in the history of fan voting for NBA All-Star games has one player surpassed 3 million votes. Not Jordan, not LeBron, not Shaq, not Yao. Well in 2009 Dwight Howard did just that finishing with a record 3,150,181 votes! That Superman shit last year did wonders lol. Before this year the most votes ever received was 2,558,278 by Yao in 2005. And not only did Dwight break Yao's record, but so did LeBron (2,940,823), Kobe (2,805,397), D-Wade (2,741,413), and Tim Duncan (2,578,168). I don't know if the NBA All-Star game is just more relevant than ever, but whatever the case you know David Stern is somewhere poppin' bottles lol.

Anyway, here are the starters:

East:
C - Dwight Howard
F - Kevin Garnett
F - LeBron James
G - Dwyane Wade
G - Allen Iverson

West:
C - Yao Ming
F - Tim Duncan
F - Amare Stoudamire
G - Kobe Bryant
G - Chris Paul

Random News Shit: NBA Headlines Edition

Here's some of your top headlines from Friday hoops.

1) Iverson, Pistons give Lakers their first loss
Final score: Pistons 106, Lakers 95. Kobe hit 29, but it wasn't enough as both A.I. and Rashad bust 25. Welp, like Iverson said after the game, we knew they weren't going 82-0 lol.

2) Billups, Nuggets give Celtics first home loss of the season
I watched this game after the Heat game got out of hand and the C's really weren't fuckin' with Denver at all. The Nuggets look like a new team without Iverson and Camby. If they keep playing like this they might actually get out of the first round this year.

3) Nets hand Hawks their second straight loss
After winning their first 6, they just dropped their 2nd straight. I hope these niggas don't turn out to be frauds.

4) Greg Oden record his first career double-double
He's progressing along just fine. He had 11 point, 11 boards, and 4 blocks in 24 minutes off the bench. AND he didn't get hurt lol.

5) Shaq leads Suns in points, rebounds, and assist in OT win over Kings

Did he have a flashback to 2000?? With Steve Nash serving his one game suspension for his involvement in Wednesday's shoving match and Barbosa gone because of the passing of his mother, the Diesel finished with 29, 13, and 6. On top of that, Grant Hill must've had a flashback to '96 because he finished with 22, 9, 4, and 4 steals.
