Finally, finally, finally the much ballyhooed new Justin Timberlake track with Jay-Z is out! Check it out:

Pretty cool song. I was worried at the beginning, I thought that intro was how the entire song was going to sound. Whew! I mean, it was dope for an intro (well, besides Timbaland's weird beluga whale yelp at the start), but it wouldn't have been for an entire song.

Anyway, I don't know if J.T. was purposely going for the Robin Thicke sound, but if he was, he nailed it. He sounded great, just a lot like Thicke both lyrically and vocally. Who knows, maybe that's who wrote the song for him?

Sadly, as much as I love Jay-Z, he added absolutely nothing to the song besides his name. Now that's not to say the verse was trash and someone else should've been on here, but to say it was kinda unnecessary. This song didn't need a rap verse. It didn't hurt, it just didn't help either.

And of course Timbaland killed the beat, that goes without saying... though I just said it. I have a lot of regrets.

Thursday Billboard Update - 4/15/10

Making its triumphant return to #1 this week is Justin Bieber's My World 2.0 which moves 102,100 in his 3rd week. That's pretty much all that's going on here.

Remember back in March when I said, "this should be an interesting few weeks ahead of us," after B.o.B's Nothin' On You moved up to #2, Lady Gaga's Telephone moved up to #3, and Drake's Over jumped up to #17?? Well these few weeks that followed couldn't have been more boring. The tradition keeps this week as basically nothing happens on the Hot 100 besides Usher's OMG taking Young Money's Bed Rock's spot in the top 10.

Thursday Billboard Update - 4/8/10

Usher's Raymond v. Raymond takes over the #1 spot with a string 329,000 sold in his first week in stores. Hot on his heals at #2 is last week's #1, Justin Bieber's My World 2.0, which actually sees a increase in sales this week and moves 291,000. The young bitches must've taken offense to my comments of last week lol. Coming in at #4 is Erykah Badu's New Amerykah, Part Two: Return of the Ankh with 110,400 sold.

I'm not even gonna talk past this sentence on the Hot 100 because #1-8 were standstills.

• Usher's Lil Freak sees a 13 spot bump 56-43.
• Timbaland's If We Ever Meet Again with Katy Perry jumps 22 spots 96-74.
• Oddly enough Erykah Badu has had one of the biggest tracks around for the past couple weeks with Window Seats, but it hasn't showed up on the Hot 100. That ends today as Ms. Badu finally checks in at #95.

Thursday Billboard Update - 2/4/10

Last week I warned to anticipate a huge week for the Hope For Haiti Now compilation album. This week that warning seems comical as the album only racks up 142,900, about 28,000 less than what we saw in its first 2 days of availability. I didn't anticipate the drop in coverage by the 24-hour news networks, and the lack of staying power of its 2 biggest tracks (Taylor Swift's Today Was A Fairytale fell 2-22 and Jay-Z, Bono, and Rihanna's Stranded fell 16-85). The big winner this week is Grammy award winning country group Lady Antebellum, whose Need You Now album moved 481,000 in its first week. Also debuting this week is Corinne Bailey Rae's The Sea at #7 with 53,400.

This got shaken up a bit this week on the Hot 100. The 2 tracks that debuted in the top 10 last week (Taylor Swift's Today Was A Fairy Tale at #2 and Justin Bieber's Baby at #5) fell out this week, and a former #1 (Jay-Z's Empire State Of Mind) did the same. Taking their spots are Black Eyed Peas' Imma Be finally breaking through at #4, Ludacris' How Low returning at #6, and Lady Antebellum's title track at #8. After their Grammy performance this past Sunday, don't be shocked if Imma Be takes over the top spot next week.

Thursday Billboard Update - 1/28/10

Sincerest apologies about this being so late, I don't know why but I totally forget yesterday was Thursday lol.

Last week the Billboard charts were minding their business and everything was status quo. Then the Hope For Haiti Now telethon happened. Subsequently a compilation CD by the same name was released and sold 171,000 in the 2 days before SoundScan closes the week of sales. Imagine if it was afforded the other 4 days most albums get by being released on a Tuesday, it may have went gold. Well definitely look out for big numbers out of this compilation album again next week.

Hope For Haiti Now's effects were not just felt on the Billboard 200, but on the Hot 100 as well as Taylor Swift's Today Was A Fairytale debuts at #2. The 325,000 digital downloads also makes its good for the biggest first week of digital sales by a female artist all-time. Also debuting inside the top 10 this week is Justin Bieber's Baby featuring Ludacris at #5. And yes, Ludacris should be ashamed of himself.

Susan Boyle's I Dreamed A Dream finally loses her spot at #1 as Ke$ha's debut album Animal moves 152,000. Doesn't matter, Ms. Boyle's damage is done as she gets a triple platinum plaque to take home. The RIAA isn't shipping many of those out these days...then again, I don't think they actually ship those plaques out lol.

A little bit of action this week on Hot as Ke$ha debuts a track called Blah Blah Blah at #7. In addition, Young Money's Bedrock and Rihanna's Hard finally make it to the top 10.

Susan Boyle and her I Dreamed A Dream are still looking dominant moving another 582,000 while Andrea Bocelli is no slouch either with another 400,000. Chris Brown's comeback album Graffiti does 101,900. That looks about right. Expect this album to disappear into Billboard oblivion sooner than later. Gucci Mane's The State Vs. Radric Davis round out the top 10 with 90,000 sold. Can we still fronting like he's a major player in the game now??

This Week In Flops 12/8/09

Okay, 181,400 is what Rihanna's Rated R sold last week, so that's Chris Brown's sales ceiling. (Trust me, there's NO chance that he even comes close to that figure, let alone pass it.) The bottom line is the interest just isn't there for Chris and it doesn't help that I've heard nothing but bad reviews since the album leaked. He should still debut in the top 10 selling somewhere between 90-120k.

I listened to Snoop's album over the weekend and I was extremely disappointed World Of A Gangsta and Protocol didn't make the cut. I mean its not like they ran out of space, there's only 14 tracks and 2 of them were the intro and outro. Oh, and one was an absolutely ear torturing song called Pronto with Soulja Boy. That shit is SOOOOOO bad! You telling me the album needed that, but couldn't use those 2 bangers mentioned above?? For that reason I probably won't buy the album, but I'm sure it'll fall in the 80-110k range.

In April of '07, when the first Shock Value dropped, it debuted at #5 and sold 138,000, and that was on the heels of super single Give It To Me with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. That huge #1 hit single doesn't exist these time around some we might see Timmy sitting on the outside of the top 10 next week. I'll say 60-90k.

Welp, I guess its time to see how hot Gucci Mane really is to everyone. He's destroyed numerous songs with his shitty features, but he is allegedly in high demand. Realistically, with the way everybody has pretended to be on his dick, he should do Susan Boyle numbers.

..But he won't. I'll give him 45-85k.

I haven't listened to the album yet, but I'm sure its good. Its a damn shame nobody knows its dropping though. I mean, I didn't even know until I saw it leak last week. Damn shame, 20-50k

Judging by Juvenile's album's perormance (#43, 23,100 sold), I'm gonna guess B.G. does somewhere in the range of 10-20.

Thursday Billboard Update - 12/3/09

Proving looks don't matter when it comes to talent, Susan Boyle's debut album I Dreamed A Dream (terrible title) annihilates her competition and moves 701,000 units in her first week. That's good for 2009's best sales week, beating out Eminem's Relapse's first week of 608,244.

After all that hoopla last week, Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment comes in at #3 with 198,000 sold. I guess America wasn't as ready for that gay shit as it thought lol. Also underwhelming is Rihanna's Rated R at #4 with 181,400 sold. Now on the surface that's her best first week ever, but with all the extra press, sympathy, and 20/20 interviews she should've moved more. Especially with that extra day and Black Friday. Don't bode well for Chris Brown's Graffiti.

I can't be the only one noticing this shit on every song lol.

Damn I love these soul singers from the UK! Amy, Adele, Joss, Duffy, these girls are BAD! Young black girls trying to be R&B singers you are all on notice, step your game up! These UK chicks are bringing more soul to the table and we invented this shit.

Anyway, this song is stupid hot! How hot, you may be asking? So hot that I wouldn't even mind if Nas' verse was left off! Now that's hot!

Mary J. Blige - Skycap (feat. Timbaland)

The skycap concept was a bit of a stretch, but I love the vibe of this song. This might be a monster once it gets mixed down and everything. Timbo could've not said anything on the track, but I didn't mind it that much so its all good.

R. Kelly - Religious

So there is still a real artist inside of R. Kelly somewhere. Hearing Kellz making a joint like this is refreshing because I was getting tired of him riding T-Pain and The-Dream's coattail like he wasn't that nigga in the R&B for a solid decade. Its not quite Chocolate Factory shit yet, but he's getting warmer. We really need him to get back in the studio and finish that song Baby Girl with Pharrell if he hasn't already!

Chris Brown - So Cold (Prod. By Polow Da Don)

Another song about Rihanna?? He only about 3 or 4 leaked songs into a comeback and half them shits either been about Rihanna or can be interpreted to be about Rihanna. I think he might be in the "Puff Daddy after he loss J. Lo" zone right now so maybe we should just prepare ourselves for more songs of this ilk.

Whatever, this nigga still has a terrible singing voice to me either.

Now I very well could've heard it wrong, but a little after 2 minutes in, did T-Pain say he was in booty dance contests in 1994 and the crowd cheered him on??

And that concludes the Timbaland portion of the album lol. Hov absolutely destroys this track! I can't co-sign that hook or whoever that is singing it though (not surprised her name wasn't included in the tracklisting). I loved it though and shots to my homie Joel for giving me the heads up right after I got home from work lol.

On some real shit though, I hope this actually serves as a Reminder of who Hov is and what he means to this game. I'm not gonna lie, I was doubting him big time when I saw that weak looking tracklisting, but this track coupled with yesterday's Off That has me a bit more convinced. Then again, this is the last track not produced by Kanye on the album so it could easily go back down hill from here BUT I'm just gonna think positive thoughts.

For real though, what is wrong with this song?? You can't say the beat isn't hot because it is. You can't the hook is hot because it is. You definitely can't say Hov wasn't going in on the verses because he was. So what's the problem?? Are y'all that attached to your chains and rims that you're mad that he made a song saying it was over?? Are y'all mad because y'all still making it rain and he offed that?? Stop it!
