Thursday Billboard Update - 4/29/10

Glee
There's nothing of interest of us going on on the Billboard 200, so lets move on.

B.o.B is practically running the Hot 100 right now. Of course Nothin' On You is sitting phat at #1, but Airplanes cracks the top 10 in his 2nd week at #9. And that's not even to mention he has another debut this week, but we'll get into that below.

The Billboard 200 1-10
first week debuts in bold

1. Glee Cast - The Power Of Madonna (1)
2. Lady Antebellum - Need You Now (3-2)
3. Justin Bieber - My World 2.0 (1-3)
4. AC/DC - Iron Man 2 sdtk (4)
5. Usher - Raymond vs. Raymond (4-5)
6. Various Artists - Now! 33 (5-6)
7. Jimmy Buffet - Encores (7)
8. Justin Bieber - My World (10-8)
9. Zac Brown Band - The Foundation (15-9)

  • Cypress Hill's new album Rise Up debuts at #19 with 18,500 in first week sales.
  • Devin The Dude's Suite 420 debuts at #87 this week with just 6,100 albums sold.
  • And finally, Little Brother's last album Leftback comes in at #134 with 4,600 sold.
The Billboard Hot 100 1-10
first time top 10's in bold

1. B.o.B - Nothin' On You (1-1)

10. Lady Gaga - Telephone (7-10)
  • Don't look now, but Jay-Z's Young Forever is actually sitting at #12 right now. That's crazy! Will it crack the top 10?? I don't know, we shall see.
  • Alicia Keys' Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready) jumps 25 spots this week 83-58.
  • B.o.B's Bet I featuring T.I. and Playboy Tre debuts at #72.

Muzik!!!! Ghostface, Joell, Keri, Busta & More!!

I don't feel like making posts for all these individually so here we go lol.

Ghostface Killah - Message From Ghostface (feat. Novel)

I should have put "(Chris Brown Diss)" on the end of the title up there to draw more attention to my wesbite lol.

Joell Ortiz - Covering The Classics (Sampler)

Sickness! Lets get that Free Agent out in these streets!

Keri Hilson - Turning Me On (Remix) (feat. T-Pain & Lil Wayne)

Why is she dissing Beyonce?? It took her 3 single to get 1 marginal hit so I think she should probably chill lol. I still love you though Keri ;-).

Busta Rhymes - Turn My Swag On

Not sure why he rapped on this shit.

Rapper Big Pooh - Homage To Pete Rock (feat. Sta Stimuli & Kurupt)

Sickness!

La The Darkman - World Is Filled (feat. Willie The Kid)

Hmm, this is the best record I've ever heard dude make.

AC - Head In The DJ Booth

AC always comes with that shit!

Hip-Hop MuZik!

Slaughter House (Royce Da 5'9", Joe Budden, Crooked I, & Joell Ortiz) - Onslaught

Man, I don't even know who ripped is the hardest. This shit is crazy, I hope they do more tracks because our last super group (C.R.S.) hasn't done shit since their first track lol.

Sheek Louch - Can't Stop

Sheek is too much man. Only he can get away with a hook like this lol. This shit is jammin' though, I fuck with it. He's supposed to be dropping a mixtape or something on the 25th, but I don't remember where I read that so sorry lol.

Little Brother - Playin' To Lose

Dope beat, good lyrics, I co-sign with this.

Q-Tip Feat. Busta Rhymes - Gettin Up (DJ Scratch Remix)

I wish Scratch gave us another one of those New York Shit type beats (damn that joint was so classic!), but I guess this is all good too. Good old school shit and Busta ripped it.

Curren$y - You Love It

I always loved this beat...that's pretty much the only reason I'm posting this lol.

Nicki Minaj - Beam Me Up Scotty

Oh goodness, why do niggas try to spit their verses all proper?? I hate that shit lol. Either way I don't really get the point of this track, but okay lol.

Little Brother - Getback (Review)

Little Brother is a group most people have never heard of... hell, I didn't even know who they were until 2005! Regardless of their commercially small following, these dudes put in work at the studio. That's been evident in all of their albums and their latest, Getback, is no exception. I must admit, I am a bit puzzled by the title, but at the end of the day what does the title matter if the music is on point? Exactly!

I'm sure I wasn't the only one skeptic about the beat selection since 9th Wonder left the group, but it turns out they faired extremely well without their in-house beatmaker. Much better than he faired without them on his somber solo album Vol. 2-Dream Merchant. Anyway, it was a given that the lyrics and concepts would be on point and they took no days off seeing how I found nothing worth skipping either of the 3 times I listened to it. Plus, all the features work, even Lil Wayne's!

Like I said before, you can listen to this album without skipping any of the songs so there is really nothing bad I can say about the album. In fact, if I HAD to say anything bad about Getback I guess it would be that there's really no overtly incredible tracks that stand out...that's it.

Overall, Get Back is a pretty dope effort by Little Brother, but unfortunately it won't get them any commercial success...even with a cliche Lil Wayne feature lol. I'm not sure it really matters to them at this point, and well it shouldn't.

This Week In Flops 10/23/07

Whats good yall? Sorry I couldn't come this with The Week In Flops last week, but yall know how my internet situation was but anyway fuck that I'm back! Now, don't expect a big debut from anyone this week because if you are you'll undoubtedly be disappointed. The #1 album WILL be Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride, but a lil further down the chart will be Chris Hurricane Chris' debut album 51/50 Ratchet. His label did him a TERRIBLE injustice by releasing his album about 2 months after his single A Bay Bay played out and his buzz is all but gone. Whatever the case, his album actually wasn't half bad, but that won't stop him from doing about 50-70k first week.

Even further down the chart will be JD's greatest hits album Y'all Know What This Is... The Hits which I'm guessing do about 15-25k with little to no promo.

Its all downhill from there because none of the rest of the Hip-Hop debuts will even sale over 10,000 including Little Brother's Get Back, Bizarre's Blue Cheese 'N' Choney Island, and Trae's Life Goes On. The good thing is that none of those albums are on majors so they'll be fine.
