Championship Round Foolery

Let's start with B.J. Raji's touchdown celebration. Who approved this? I mean, it was a great play by the young fella (even though he almost Leon Letted it), but what's with the hip roll? Was he celebrating a touchdown or auditioning for a Sean Paul video? I'm not gonna lie, I laughed when I initially saw it, but don't get it fucked up, I do not approve of any dude rocking his hips like Diamond in Crime Mob. This video simultaneously contains the best and worst moments for big dudes today. Let's move on.

What in the fuck is wrong with Mark Sanchez? That was nasty as fuck! I wouldn't have blamed Mark Brunell if he swung on him after he swiped boogers on him because that was definitely ass whuppin' worthy. Then again, the camera did change right after Sanchez did that and there is no proof that Brunell didn't swing on him. Hmm, maybe that's why the Jets played so poorly in the first half? I guess we'll never know, but what we do know is that that was nasty as hell and grown up Diego from "Dora The Explorer" deserves a Maino slap.

Now, for the pause-worthy clip of the year thus far, I present Rashard Mendenhall humping Ben Roethlisberger.

As Mendenhall was rushing for his 121 yards today, I was thinking about what could've been if my Dallas Cowboys had selected him with that 22nd pick in the 2008 draft instead of Felix Jones...then this shit happened and I've been shopping for Felix Jones jerseys ever since.

What was this shit, I mean, really?? Was this Mendenhall's way of sticking up for white women across the world? Was he trying to show Big Ben what it was like to be held down and taken advantage of without knowing what was going on? I don't know, but whatever the case, this behavior is HIGHLY unacceptable, and is also Maino slap worthy. If I was Mike Tomlin, I'd bench Mendenhall for the first series in the Super Bowl like Bill Belichick did Wes Welker in the division round.

Richard Seymour Lays Hands On Big Ben

Dammit man, this shit is too funny! Richard Seymour put the hand of God right underneath Roethlisberger's facemask lol. I'm not sure why been flopped on the ground like he had been shot or was doing his best Vlade Divac impression, but this is all just so great. This is what the NFL has been missing!

Random News Shit: SportsCenter Edition

Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger points at the sky after his team kicked a field goal in the first quarter against the Denver Broncos in their preseason NFL football game in Denver August 29, 2010.
1) Roethlisberger Has Suspension Reduced To 4 Games
This is no surprise, everybody expected this to be the decision that came down since we found out Ben was gonna meet with Roger Goodell today.

Big Ben's returns will come October 17th against the lowly Cleveland Browns, so that should be a nice welcome back victory. For Steelers fans, hopefully they'll be 2-2 by the time he's back, but with the Falcons, Titans, and Ravens on the schedule, there's a strong possibility they'll be 1-3. Especially now that we know Byron Leftwich is gonna be out for at least the first game with a MCL sprain and the Steelers will be forced to rely on either Dennis Dixon or Charlie Batch.

2) Manny Ramirez To Cut Hair Today
Also happening today, Manny Ramirez is expected to cut his hair. Chicago is allegedly flying in Manny's barber from Boston to do the job, but I'll believe it when I see it.

3) Agent Wants Crayton Released From Cowboys
As a Cowboy fan, this whole Patrick Crayton situation pisses me the fuck off. Forget Crayton's agent asking for a release again, the fact that the Cowboys would even consider letting him go when we have to cut our rosters down to 53 players tomorrow is what bothers me. Yeah he's a trusted veteran and all that jazz, but besides that, who's to say Dez Bryant and Miles Austin are going to be healthy for 16 games?? What if one gets hurt?? What if both get hurt?? I'm sold that Dez and Miles are great players, but I'm not sold on their durability. I know Miles stayed healthy in 2009, but before that break out season, he was known to be injury prone. Hell, he was even hurt for a good portion of training camp. And in addition to my concerns with Dez and Miles, Roy Williams' big garbage ass is hurt right now too.

Look, I could go on and on, but the bottom line is this: on top of it being fucked up to keep PC for camp and then dump him at the end, we need this guy on our team! We'll see what happens tomorrow when cuts are made.

4) LenDale White Out For The Season
Tough off season for LenDale, first he's traded by the Titans, then cut by his former college coach, and now he'll miss the entire 2010 season with a torn Achilles tendon. To be fair though, this injury could be due to his falling out of grace with God after his contribution to Tim Tebow's friar haircut. Just putting it out there.

Random News Shit: NFL Headlines Edition

Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb warms up before their pre-season game against the Baltimore Ravens in Landover, Maryland, August 21, 2010.
1) Shanahan: McNabb May Miss Season Opener
B.S.! There is no way Donovan is not gonna play in that game versus the Cowboys. I wish he wasn't playing, but there's just no chance he misses the opener. The ankle isn't never seemed to be that serious. I mean, the dude had on an air cast last week. Not a boot, AN AIR CAST! Besides that, the game isn't for 2 more weeks, he'll be fine. Don't try to pull the sheet over our head Shanahan, take this opening night ass whuppin' like a man! lol.

2) Bengals Cut Antonio Bryant; Owe Him $8 Million
Looks like the CowBengals are down one ex-Boy, but this had to be done. They knew it, I knew it, you knew it. The guy has a bad knee and he only practiced with the team once, which makes it all the more curious they picked him over T.O. in the first place.

Oh well, their receiving corp is full anyway with Ocho Cinco, T.O., Matt Jones, and Jordan Shipley. And you can't forget rookie TE Jermaine Gresham, that kid is a player. We'll see if Carson Palmer can get them all the ball, but that's the biggest concern to me because I'm not sure he can anymore.

3) Ben Roethlisberger, Roger Goodell To Meet Friday
I'm assuming this meeting is to make the final decision on whether Ben's suspension will be 4 or 6 games. I'm sure it'll be 4, but I guess we shall see.

4) Jets' Calvin Pace Breaks Foot; Ravens' Stallworth Does As Well
Tough breaks for both team (literally), but even tougher for the Jets. Stallworth isn't even a starter, so he's replaceable, but the Jets are probably going to have to bring a new player into camp to replace Pace. This ESPN article says that guy will be Adalius Thomas, so we shall see.

5) Laveranues Coles Cut By Jets
Nigga retire! It's over.

Random News Shit: NFL Headlines Edition

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger looks on during the team's NFL football game against the Miami Dolphins in Miami, in this January 3, 2010 file photo. Roethlisberger was suspended for six games without pay on Wednesday and must undergo behavioural evaluation for violating the NFL's personal-conduct policy. The 28-year-old Roethlisberger, who won Super Bowls with Pittsburgh in 2006 and 2009, was accused in March of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old female college student in a nightclub.
1) Ben Roethlisberger Gets 6 Game Suspension
I guess that seems about right. Be clear though, this was the lightest suspension he could've gotten. Yeah, they floated the idea of 4 games out there on Monday, but there was NO WAY that was actually gonna happen.

Welp, I know one NFL player who will never fuck in a public restroom again lol.

2) Roethlisberger Also On Trade Block
I discussed this possibility back when the Steelers traded Santonio Holmes, but I never thought they'd seriously give it much thought. Clearly they have now that we know they are openly shopping Big Ben.

I'm not sure they'll pull the trigger though, even if the deal is really enticing. Then again, they did trade Holmes for a bag of beans, so who's to know. All I know is that if the Steelers don't trade Ben by the end of the draft, that probably means they aren't going to.

Bill Simmons mentioned it in his draft column yesterday, but why wouldn't the Raiders offer up the #8 overall pick and some other picks and get Big Ben?? It make perfect sense, and it would be right up Al Davis' alley if he were still alive. Its not like talking a O-lineman with the #8 pick is gonna make JaMarcus Russell any better anyway. I'm just saying.

3) Tebow Decides Not To Attend NFL Draft
Why was he even considering going?? Besides the fact that the NFL saw fit to split a 7 round draft up into 3 days, but Tebow could be nothing but embarrassed in the situation because he is NOT going in the first round anyway. Its just not gonna happen. I can definitely see early 2nd round, but 1st round is just unrealistic, and he would've just been sitting there alone looking like a dumbass when his name wasn't called at the end of the (now) first day of the draft.

4) Jason Taylor Signs With Rival Jets
I'm not mad at J.T. for leaving, I'm not mad at him for going to a heated rival, I just don't get why he's doing it to himself. He wants to be in Miami, end of story. Now, its not sure if Miami even offered him a deal, but I don't see this Jets experiment ending well.

Jets Rob Steelers For WR Holmes, Leave Behind 5th Round Pick At Scene Of The Crime

PITTSBURGH - DECEMBER 06: Santonio Holmes #10 of the Pittsburgh Steelers looks for running room after a first quarter catch while playing the Oakland Raiders on December 6, 2009 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Man, where was The Situation to warn us a robbery was in progress?? I mean shit! Santonio Holmes, aka the best receiver on your team, you trade him to the Jets for a 5th round draft pick?? You turn a 26 year-old, former 1st round draft pick, Super Bowl MVP, and 1,000 receiver into a 5th round "maybe I'll make the team, maybe I won't" pick?? You can't tell me that's not a robbery. I'm not willing to be convinced the brass in the Jets organization didn't run into Dan Rooney's office with guns drawn demanding this trade. It's the only conclusion that makes any bit of sense.

Seriously though, what the fuck?? And where was Jerry Jones when this robbery was taking place?? After being robber by the Lions in 2008, ol' Jerry should have been first in line to commit this crime!

Dan Rooney like the bizarro Al Davis now. That's right, instead of bringing in over-the-hill players for ridiculously high prices, Rooney gives young players entering their prime away for ridiculously low prices. Nice.

And here's the biggest question stemming from this trade (besides what gun the Jets used in the robbery, of course): What does this mean for Big Ben Roethlisberger?? Is this a warning?? Is he gonna get traded too?? Can they score a 7th rounder and a few practice footballs for him?? I don't know, but I'm intrigued.
